New customers will pay exactly the same as existing customers for the 500GB box. The reduction for existing customers is for the 1GB box.

The TiVo fee is charged once per account, however you would pay the standard additional box rental of £6.50 if that's what it is

The £3 charge is per account, not per box.

Unless you're one of those people who've been given multiroom free when having the first Tivo installed?

From what i have read it is £3 per account and not £3 per box. They will need to to pay the £49.95 + £40 install as well? I stand to be corrected?

Even better when you consider you end up with a 10Mbit connection per TiVo box as well

Agree that HD charge per box is a complete rip off , I think with Sky as well if you have a Sky+HD box as your multi room box you have to pay 10.00 and 10.25 HD charge , thank god I only have one box LOL :D

Of course it's relevant! It means that your broadband is unaffected by the tv service and the tv service has it's own broadband which is not depending on the broadband! Brilliant!

I think this 10mbit thing is a bit of a marketing ploy as the V+ downloads its on demand stuff through its own connection which doesnt interfere with your BB connection.

But TiVo has to download a whole lot more. Not to mention You Tube.

Because if you didn't have Tivo you wouldn't have the extra broadband connection. It's only used by the Tivo not the customer.

You probably need to reboot. There's a bug where it doesn't show the logos on newly-installed boxes.

How fast was the dedicated connection on the V+ box?

I have a problem with subtitles, when the titles change position on screen it is leaving a black line where the titles were, so i have 2 permanent black lines running through the picture.
I cannot reboot at the moment because it is recording.

Anyone else getting this :(

I'm getting a bit bored with mine now.
It's giving me all I expected and performing well.
The niggles don't really bother me, I am happy with the HD and SD pictures, and it has recorded all the series links as requested.
I've got no new things to try now, just sit back and watch TV.

Not to the internet. It has a connection to Virgin's VoD servers, which TiVo also has

Iv set a wishlist for a daily programme. Ideally id like to keep just the one copy. So everyday it records the new copy over the last copy. Iv set the wishlist to one only. But it just records the next episode and keeps that one until i delete it and then records the next. Anyway around this?

The blue light is the download light. It comes on when it is downloading data.

Yes. Also set it to "Keep until: I delete" :) (Perhaps you hadn't found that option yet!)

Edited to add:
Hang on.... what you have posted is correct behaviour. So I don't understand the problem. If it's already set to KUID then it shouldn't be recording one every day

Right, what i want it to do though, is to say, record mondays edition, then record tuesday edition over it, etc, etc. This is available on the US tivo. Only keeping one edition at a time, which is an option on the wishlist.
The options available are only, keep till i delete or till space needed though.

There is an option for keeping the amount of episodes though, not sure if it can be set to 1?

If you are an Existing customer that should be the date:

Coming soon...
We'll be releasing our 500GB TiVo box in May for existing Virgin Media customers for £49.95. TiVo monthly fee and standard installation fee will apply.

If not you will need to wait until July?

The fact that some people are finding the picture as good or better than V+ and some finding it worse (me being one) is puzzeling.

I wonder if there is a problem in the Cisco box production and some boxes are not being set up correctly?

Tivo 500gb will start to be installed on 11th May, seems a cheap way to get extra pvr.

1 v+ = £49
1 500gb tivo = £49

1 v+ = £49
2 500gb tivo = £49

2 x 500GB Tivo = 2 x £49.95 = £99.90. The price is per TiVo box

EDIT: Just realised that's not what you meant.

However the whether you can do what you've said or not hasn't been confirmed. As the TiVo box is an HD box, then it's likely the V+ would actually cost £99 as per the current additional HD rules (or the TiVo will cost more)

I wonder if there is a problem in the Cisco box production and some boxes are not being set up correctly?

I have the same concern about the TiVo remote. I have no problems with it but there are many reports about how directional it is. I can point my remote in any direction, even bouncing it off the opposite wall, and it works the box no problem. If so many others are reporting the opposite there must be a variation in production that has not being picked up by quality control.

With those numbers who in there right mind would chose a V+ as a new install/upgrade, the only thing I could think of is the £3 monthy charge for TiVo!

I seriously doubt they are commissioning anymore V+ boxes. I think once the current stocks run out your V+ will get replaced with a TiVo 500GB one, unless they have a 250GB TiVo in the pipe line(which I doubt)

Regards

John.

Too true but they have said the V hd box will be able to run the TIVO software so they may start replacing them with these (unless they want to pay the extra for the PVR).

These are just my thoughts?

Define old? I'm sure some old people may have issues but my parents (both over 60) had no problem with the S1 Tivo and don't have a problem with the V+ either. Though, of course, I suppose I should add that 60 isn't that old :D

Re: General TiVo Discussion Part 2

I know it used to take 3 days or so for the S1's to react to schedule changes. I don't know what the figure is for the VM Tivo. If CC have changed their schedule at the last minute, this could explain the problem.

I don't know if that is the issue. I'm just offering it as a possible explanation :)

DigiGuide seems to be right though.
