Re: [Merged] Football talk

Erm everything, because it shows no matter much money you throw at a team it does not mean that they can go and win a cup like they should have!!!!!HAHHAHAHAHA,
They were a load of tosh and they had ample chances at goal, but they could not do it. Scholes wants a good smack for missing that penalty!

Russ 21-05-2005 21:10

Re: [Merged] Football talk

A load of tosh??

You either did not watch the game or do not understand football?

I'm assuming it's the former :disturbd:

allieyoung666 21-05-2005 21:12

Re: [Merged] Football talk

Actually I did, I sat and watched it with Paul and I do understand football. Just face it Man U were a load of ********, I love u Man U fans you cannot accept defeat!!!!!! You are all like Wayne Rooney!

Russ 21-05-2005 21:18

Re: [Merged] Football talk

No - if you'd watched the game you'd have known that United completely dominated the game, we kept the Arse under pressure. Read any news report - here's one for you, just to make it easier. Read the 4th paragraph down, it says....

Quote:

United dominated the match and missed a host of chances to win.
Also try the first paragraph here. So I assume you didn't really watch the game. I would never suggest you know nothing about football of course...however if you want to argue with the sporting journalists' views then go right ahead....

You don't often hear of teams being 'tosh' yet still dominating. The problem was RVN missing 3 great chances to score.

Unless of course you're one of those types who support lesser teams and have little else to look forward to other than United losing?

allieyoung666 21-05-2005 21:24

Re: [Merged] Football talk

Erm no. They were all over them yes, but they couldnt break the wall that Arsenal had put up, I just think Man U supporters are the worst at losing things. Just accept it and move on. I do hope I am not going to have this twoddle all night as I cannot be bothered, asI still feel like I am driving the car!

Russ 21-05-2005 21:27

Re: [Merged] Football talk

Break the wall???

Now I KNOW you didn't watch the match!!

United had 10 shots on target to Arse's 3.

United had 11 corners to Arse's 1.

I think I can see why you're not bothered to carry on!!!

I'll tell you what, wait til the papers come out tomorrow, if you can show me any which agree with your 'notion' then I'll step down immediately :)

I also suppose it's going to be a LONG time before we get a league game to see who's the better side out of United and Nottm Forrest.

Oh hang on, we don't need to wait for the league game to work that one out....

How's about TOTALLY missing the point?

No need for the welcome back as I have been here all along.

As for Scholes and Ruud I think they go straight to the top of Glazers for sale list.

BTW if Man Utd were so much more superior.... why did they fail to score in 123 mins of open play and eventually lose on penalties to a lesser team? :dozey:

As I said above Man U Buccaneers.

Also says it all really they could not put the ball in the back of the net legally in 123mins of open play but eventually lost to a team that could put penalties away and a goal keeper who could save one.

But as you say, Arse won the cup. But it's not as if they played or even looked like winners.

edit: taken from the BBC's report:

Yep United were all over us and bad finishing from your so called top class strikers were to blame but on the flip side top goal keeping and resilience kept us in it.

Probably not going to happen but fingers, toes etc. are definately crossed.

I would have put Smith on insted of Vanistelroy, Smith and Rooney work better IMO. Vanistelroy has been a yard off the pace since his injury last year. Someone said yesterday how many goals has Vanistelroy scored from outside the area?? I had to think about it it's none.

Oo, I like a challenge:

2005 FA Cup - 0-0
2004/5 prem - 0-2 away, 2-4 home
2004/5 LC - 0-1
2004/5 CS 3-1
2003/4 FA Cup 0-1
2003/4 prem 1-1 home, 0-0 away
2003/4 CS 1-1

That's your 9, with one win for Arsenal and 4 draws and 4 United wins. However, Arsenal have won the FA Cup and Premiership in that time (against 1 FA Cup) and finished above United in the league in both seasons, thus proving that it counts for ding dong all. Arsenal's record v. United hasn't been too hot lately, but it hasn't needed to be.

So, all in all, you're agreeing that I'm right? Gee thanks...

Anyway, welcome back to this thread! Hadn't seen you around over the last few months, your presence seemed to wane from around when we beat a certain record - but you're back now, right when Arse win something...and that's all that counts, yeah? :)

I cannot agree that Arse were resilient (seems like most/all of the sunday papers are with me on this, plus Sky, BBC etc) as it was some great goalkeeping and abysmal finishing which kept the ball out of the Arse net. Oh, and a linesman's flag which called for an offside which wasn't interferring with play. But still, the result stayed the same.

I'd agree with you if he was a long way from the ball, but he was within a few yards of it and I think the possibility that the other Utd player could have squared it to him is "interfering with play".

Russ 22-05-2005 12:23

Re: [Merged] Football talk

I don't think he was that close to him - it was fairly obvious (not just to me, also in the Express and Mail) where the ball was going to be played.

Re: [Merged] Football talk

think the cup final yesterday was a good picture of us all season.. had loads of chances and dominated the match yet we oinly tested the keeper a few times and just couldn't get the ball in the back of the net..

don't think pens is the way to win or lose a cup final.. after tossing the coin to see who goes first they might as well of just tossed it again to see who won..

still well done to arsenal on beating us.. with the team they had available not very adventerous tactics but not sure what else they could have done..

shame about giggs.. he deserved to start on the bench but think about this.. you are playing in your home town,, it's a cup final and you started on the bench.. surely that is motivation enough to get you fired up.. not if you Giggs it isn't i'll just take my 90 grand a week and then go on holiday

Real Madrid last night admitted they want to sign Cristiano Ronaldo. Real boss Vanderlei Luxemburgo is even considering converting the Manchester United winger, 20, into a striker. That would push Michael Owen down the Bernabeu pecking order and could pave the way for a swap deal. Luxemburgo said: "Cristiano is a very strong kid. He plays on the wing, but could play a bit more as a striker. He's a great player. But signings are something we discuss internally. You always have to be careful."
