I'm stuck in work and the game is on bt sport. do we have access to the bt sport app to watch it or just stuck to the vm app which won't let me watch over 4G?

I have 16Gb of data to use up in 10 days i could have enjoyed watching the game!

Vodafone tie up with Liberty Global could pose fresh challenge to Sky football dominance.

Premier League opens TV rights bidding process.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-30451616

Quote:

The Premier League has opened bidding for the next tranche of television rights, for live games and highlights, from season 2016-17 to 2018-19.

There will be 168 live matches up for grabs - up from the current 154 matches, split into seven packages.

No single bidder will be allowed to acquire more than 126 matches.

The current live rights are shared by Sky with 116 games, and BT with 38, and the pair - in a battle for sports fans - are sure to be among the bidders.

Saturday tradition

Up to 10 Friday night games will be offered as part of the new rights offering.

They will be drawn from the package that covers Monday night matches, so the broadcaster that wins that particular package will have up to 10 Friday night games and 18 Monday night games over the course of the season at their disposal.

Friday night football is a good start, but I was hoping we'd see an end to the Saturday 3pm blackout this time around.

Good for some maybe but I work night shifts so miss many night games as it is so not so good for me personally. That said night matches do seem to be more exciting especially under the flood lights

I do shifts as well, and it's precisely the continued moving of fixtures to suit the tv schedules that means I can no longer commit to a season ticket. For shift workers like us more matches shown means more opportunity to catch a game over the weekend.

A joint Discovery/BT bid for Premiership football rights maybe? If so, they could outbid Sky for the lion's share. If they manage this, I think it will be very interesting to see how this translates in terms of consumer benefits.

Speaking at the FT Digital Media Conference in London in March 2015, David Zaslav, President and CEO of Discovery Communications, said that the broadcaster would consider acquiring premium sports rights such as the Premier League. “We have a real advantage keeping the costs of second level sports manageable. The question is do we go up a level. In some cases taking a big swing might make sense to do in a joint bidding. In some cases might make sense to leave bigger high end sports to big broadcasters. We’ll just have to see,” he added.
