I read somewhere that he Taliban agreement under Trump was follow it or we'll bomb you to hell. Biden probably said 'Oh Squirrel'....

That's a more nuanced and great question.

I think the answer you'll find is that there are people on this forum and elsewhere who believe that Trump was a better leader than Biden and hence would have handled it better. I've even seen one poster who believes that the Democrats always make a hash of things.

IMHO whilst Trump instigated this shambles, Biden didn't have to stick to the roadmap. His arguments regarding maintaining forces in 'forever wars' hold no sway as there is still a US military presence in both Germany & Korea decades after their respective conflicts ended.

And still a presence in Iraq.

Still in the UK too . . . but not really relevant to the Biden/Afghanistan subject ;)

They should have done that anyway.

No it isn’t, not when the person asking it, you Maggy, is venomously anti-Trump.

 We'll bomb you to hell, we've been doing that for years donny and were doing it with depleted uranium ordinance at the start causing a spike in birth defects on top of everything else iirc. Bomb them to hell, they're already in it

I think it is, just because you don't like someone doesn't mean you can't ask a perfectly reasonable unbiased question involving them, especially as no opinion was even proferred

Actual US combat operations ended back in 2015, under Obama. Special Forces may have had a few missions, but other than that, no direct military action took place under Trump.

Not offering an opinion is a lot better than somebody who bases "their"(ie told by somebody else) opinions on falsehoods and bias.

Yes, because the past twenty odd years of the manned and unmanned air campaign have ultimately worked out so well haven’t they?

Is that a really poor attempt at sarcasm?

Nope, it was a question to someone's comment. Do you think that the past twenty years air & ground offensive in Afghanistan has resulted in anything of note?

Apart from the Taliban gaining access to large amounts of US/NATO military hardware of course
