It's rare to see a mud heap like that even in the lower league's.
Given the start perhaps they should plough Old Trafford. :D

l am surprised that the standard of the pitch was not questioned given they like things to be a certain standard nowadays.

FT and Wall street journal report Mike Ashley told his accountants that Newcastle United was disappearing from the books. This is fairly insane. Two massive sources reporting the same story.

Imagine knowing you're hosting Man United and turning out with that monstrosity of a pitch.

Tranmere boardroom conversation

Well chaps, we host Man Utd in a few days and the pitch is in a terrible condition

We could get contractors in to tart it up for the TV, but then we couldn't afford to pay the players & staff this month

hmmm, and the police bill will be larger than usual too . . . sod it, it's only Man Utd :D

With all the modern pitch technology these days it’s unusual to see any in that state, the Shrewsbury pitch was perfect. Can’t be doing Tranmere any favours either?

A great comeback by Shrewsbury and a very tasty further payday in the bargain as well.

Tranmere's pitch looked like a ploughed field and maybe its the incessant rain this winter that has done the damage.

But all the pitches in this area have had the same amount and I can’t think of any that are remotely as bad as that.

What other reasons could one give for the state of their pitch?.

Lack of maintenance/investment, I am not privy to the exact reasons.

But was there not a standard that all clubs have to adhere to in terms of the standard of their pitch.

On Man United's current form the old stager would still get into the current eleven.;)

Businessman Yasir Al-Rumayyan is expected to become the chairman of Newcastle United if the Saudi Arabian-backed consortium takes control of the Premier League club. [Telegraph] #NUFC

Re: Season 2019/2020 Football

Looks like Staveley and Co were the ones that leaked takeover talks. They're saying everything is done and the club could be sold in the next 48 hours. Effectively saying the only obstacle is Mike Ashley's signature.

Translation being that this could be catastrophic for the club that failed to sell 10,000 season tickets and has routinely undersold games all season because of a failed takeover in the summer. If he fails to sell now he may just hit a nail he can't take back out. Nice bit of destabilisation for the rest of the season.
