No but they do 'group' them so the ones you like might (hopefully) be in a different group :)

Thanks Carl

No, it's the other way round.

But normally the sub-woofer would connect to the amp (sound system), and you'd connect the amp to the TiVo using an optical lead or HDMI. What make & model is the amp?

Thanks. But I still don't think gsc140107 needs one.

Re: General TiVo Discussion Part 3

Morning all - i don't have an amp. As i say its only a very cheap surround sound system from one of our larger supermarket chains !! Basically the subwoofer plugs into the wall and from there it powers all the speakers - I can't see it accepts a DIGITAL input anywhere on the back of the subwoofer unit.

So I'll definitely need a convertor box then as mentioned and linked to in andy.m's post ??

What connections does the sub woofer have on it?

Re: General TiVo Discussion Part 3

Yes, the convertor in andy_m's post is what you need. It takes the optical output from the Tivo and converts to rca stereo. Don't forget to order a toslink and rca male to male cable.

Re: General TiVo Discussion Part 3

alwaysabear - as far as i can remember the connections are all phono (RCA) female ones.

jempalmer - do i need the TOSLINK if i buy this convertor box from amazon ?? If i'm reading it right, it says this is a TOSLINK ??

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Neet%C2%AE-D...=2Q28B0QL10PCN

Also is it just a standard RCA male to male cable I need ?? It doesn't need to be anything special does it ??

Re: General TiVo Discussion Part 3

You need the toslink cable to connect the tivo to the convertor. It's a fibre optic cable. The output from the box is, as you said, a standard male to male RCA cable. Btw, I use an HDMI splitter made by the same company and I can vouch for the quality of their products.

Hi guys, this was reported by Nialli over on vmhdblogspot.co.uk

Virgin Media has published its results for Q1 2012 and actually beat forecasts on signing up new customers and sales, which were up 2.4%. It has also announced first quarter revenues in excess of £1bn, another first for the company.
They added 21,200 customers to its network compared with the previousquarter, the highest in two years. The VM cable subscriber base now at 4.827 million, edging at a glacial pace towards 5 million.

"The appeal of TiVo is driving strong pay TV performance. We added 242,000 more TiVo customers during the quarter to reach a total of 677,100 at the quarter-end, which represents 18% of our TV customer base. This already exceeds the proportion of our customers on our lowest free tier, which now stands at 17% having fallen from 21% a year ago, as we successfully increased the number of paying TV customers by 50,600 in the quarter."

Virgin also added 45,700 cable broadband customers in the period, their highest figure ever for a single quarter.

Full results presentation: Virgin Media 2012 Q1 results

There is no mention of any new channels, HD or otherwise, on the horizon. The only ones confirmed as "coming soon" I'm aware of are Alibi HD and the Olympics BBC bonanza
.

Not sure if any one has seen this or posted it elsewher though

As stated in other post its good to see that the figures are in the right direction. I for one like using cable. I have to say I do not really care who supplies it . As I cannot see even this government allowing pay TV to be a near monopoly.

Re: General TiVo Discussion Part 3

I've been watching the IPL on ITV4, but every now and again, I get pixelation, then loss of picture, followed by a message saying this channel is unavailable, if you keep having the problem ring etc etc.
A reboot normally does the trick, but is happening a lot.
I tend to have to do a reboot at least once a week either for this or similar loss of a channel.
The V+ in the bedroom is fine.
Any ideas ??
( Mrs D&C has already suggested that I watch the cricket in the bedroom, while she watches the big plasma in the lounge !!!!)
