Running sucks imo. I went for a 35 mile bike ride today though. Far more entertaining :)

Can't run atm (knackered my plantar fascia) so we did 22m road biking on Sunday & 12m mtb yesterday :tu:

Good luck to anybody (Derek?) taking part in the Great Scottish Run tomorrow.

I'll be doing my second half marathon and hope to remember finishing this time, unlike last year!! .... I will definitely not be dehydrated at the finish this year :D

Yup 1/2 for me tomorrow. As long as I make it round I'll be happy.

Well that was a particularly painful and soul destroying experience.

Made it round, was going well till just about mile 7 then it all went wrong, ended up almost passing out and got really woozy with tingling in my fingertips. I've never had that before even in longer runs in extreme heat. :erm:

Ended up dropping the pace *right* down and walking the hills.

Anyway its done, a new PW for the 1/2 marathon but another medal for the collection and I've got a few months before the next race and 16 miles of hills.

Well done :D

Well done on finishing Deek. Doesn't sound like the best experience but at least you dug in and didn't give up. You must have been tempted!. 16 miles of hills doesn't sound that appealing though:shocked:
Presumably you get regular medicals in your line of work, I'd certainly mention the tingling in the fingers to a medic before you tackle anything else.... Good mods are hard to find:)

I got round in just under 1h:54m, about 7 minutes slower than last year but 2 hours less in the medical tent.... definite result. :D

...also managed to see my good lady and both daughters when I came into Glasgow Green, and again at the finishing line so that was great..... although obviously it cost me about 7 minutes inspecting their banners, good luck mascots and giving/receiving hugs ;)

Just heard there was a fatality yesterday at the half marthon. :(

Poor Man, only 28. The medics would have been there quickly I'd imagine as it's only about a mile from the finish.

My thoughts are with his friends and family.

It was just before the 12 mile marker, a few members of my running club were there. Despite him getting medical attention very quickly he never came round. :(

Always terribly sad when something like this happens.

The family of Aubrey Smith, who died suddenly during this years Great Scottish Run, are raising money for research into Cardiac risk in the young. :tu:

Anyway as part of my aim to get back into a good shape for running I've started a 5X50 challenge. At least 5km a day running, walking or cycling for 50 days! A week in its going well, getting used to 4-5 runs a week rather than the 1-2 I have been doing recently.

You'll be a long way from home after the 50 days;) :D

Just went and loaded up the entire load-space of my XC90 with wood from a friends garden.
Now I'm chainsawing it & chopping it prior to stacking it along the fence for the winter. Sweating buckets. Functional exercise :tu: :D
