Look at historical data. When have VM ever released a box that had the bugs ironed out. For gods sake just look at the V+ box that still dont work right

I do want this box eventually but not until its stable and a lot cheaper lol

From what I've read on these forums they have only just starting to distribute the boxes, so what are the chances that an engineer who came your house a few days ago has already got his hands on one?

I think that is standard procedure.

When has any complex software been released without bugs? In this case it is software that is already in use in Tivo boxes and hopefully most of the bugs have been ironed out.

He has the same chance as anyone else who has had some kinda information. Please be aware of what I posted. I covered myself with flame proof pants by ackowledging the fact he could be talking poop.

I have looked very hard and I can not find anywhere on this forum where I have ever said complex software is bug free.

Does the TiVo Premiere do that? I don't think so, so I'm not sure why the V+TiVo do it?

Also on my Android phone offical firmwares do not wipe settings and I only do a hard reset if the update creates an issue

The V+ updates and all settings are saved. The Sky+ updates and all the settings are saved....

yes, but you have to reset all the bios to get the operating system to work , a backup would be best option, I dont know the ins and outs of a tivo and again we're speculating on rumour so will wait till its released.

Let me try and clarify on what i was meaning ( i may have to open my mouth to put my other foot in it :D ).

What i meant to say is that that with the programme already been written ( as is used in the US ) the bugs should be ironed out and the only problem that i can see it been is due to the 3rd tuner as it is not activated at the start and going to be activated in early 2011.

I hope this clarifies what i meant:confused:

. V+ owners usually refer to their box by manufacturer. Is it a Samsung, or did you mean V HD?

Just because yours doesn't work, doesn't meant that they are all bad.

I have the SA V+HD box and apart from it running slow compared to the CISCO VHD i have not had a problem with the SA box.

They are just a bit slow at changing channels , tendancy to reboot and freeze, hopefully tivo will address all these issues.

I had a SA one that was crap too. I lot of peoples views are similar to mine. Sluggish menu system dropped recordings reboots freezing after midnight. My view is not unique again I have to ask why are people jumped on if they have negative experience with VM? I have been a customer many a year and the cable BB is the best available but the TV comes a poor second to Sky with its only plus point VOD

I do truly hope the Tivo box excels against the V+ it certainly needs to

I've had a lot of good use out of my SA box also. It has rarely caused problems and I dont know of any tv box that is perfect.

Ive had loads of Sky boxes fail but I must say while they work they are leaps and bounds ahead of the Virgin boxes. Virgin at least will keep changing them without charge whereas Sky charge after a year ( unless like me you manage to get the newest box out of contract cuz I been with them over 12 years with a couple of breaks)
