Rather than park in all the empty space behind my car, a taxi driver in a minibus decided to pull over right in front of me. Not only was there not enough room for him to do so (the front passenger side wing of the bus was left protruding into the carriageway) but he completely blocked my line of sight so that I had to reverse well away from him before I could safely pull out. If there'd been a car behind me I would not have been able to do so but I don't suppose that registered with the idiot. :nutter:

Sure it was a taxi? I know of a couple of drivers for my company who would pull the same stunt.

Yes it was, had the appropriate signage on it. I imagine he was doing the same thing as me and waiting for a pickup.

I wish some people from time to time would just step back from the PC when a thread/social media starts to go all Pete Tong. There really is no need to just have the last word. One loses nothing by just not engaging with those who annoy. Walking away is not a defeat..it's just another option.

Mad traffic this afternoon. Had a meeting over in Brighton all day and I kindly ran the visiting German engineer back to his hotel near Brighton station. Took me over an hour to then get back the 14 miles to Worthing. Insane traffic jams everywhere.

Trivial compared to the previous posts (get well soon)

Went to start the bike last night to go for a quick blast, nothing, nadda, dead. Will bump start, electrics and ignition all come up just when pressing the button I dont even get a clicking noise.

Loose wire i think, possibly to the clutch. So this weekends job is removing lots of bits of fairing to find the problem.

But on the +side I get the new bike tomorrow

When I had my ICD fitted I complained about deep seated pain around the device location, was advised that possible pocket depth was too shallow!
To relocate to a deeper pocket they said they couldn't guarantee the site to be infection free afterwards.
Forget it I told them, didn't fancy going through the replacement procedure so soon after install!

All additional med were to protect the stent from blood blockage, only for 12 months.
Still have wonky heart muscles (that's why ICD fitted).
Still waiting decision on gall bladder removal because of stones, currently on what I would describe as a no fat diet.

Yes any invasive procedure comes with risks attached RB that is for sure so its important that the patient with their family think carefully about their options before committing to a procedure.

It's been a long time since I bought a football shirt, the last being Man United's blue Vodafone top which must be circa 2003 however a mate from work recently went out to Thailand where they're ridiculously cheap and brought back a load of different ones and offered me the United 3rd shirt for £10. They're authentic too so I figured I'd be stupid to pass on that so I bought a Large.

When I got home and tried it on it was stupidly tight. I'm not particularly overweight and all my other t-shirts are Large or thereabouts but I could bearly lift my arms. He was happy for me to swap it over for an XL which was much better but still pulls a bit around my back.

When did they start doing that?

I can understand players needing a close fit to help prevent their opponents grabbing them in a game but it's pretty annoying that they make fan-replica shirts just as tight.

Currys.

My dad wants a new tablet and Currys are the best price, but the model I want is not available in store:rolleyes:, but the manager said I can order it.

I came home to see if I can get it delivered via online, but it cannot be home delivered or click and collect to my store:mad:.

So tomorrow I'll pop in and try and get the store to order it.

I'm quite sure that is not the case Mark is there no one you can talk to even your GP may be able to help you with your feelings. I know when I was feeling quite down a couple of years back I was put on a short term course of meds for anxiety as I thought I was suffering from depression but after speaking to my GP he diagnosed severe anxiety due to the legal dispute I found myself in honestly Mark it is and was the best thing I did in speaking to my GP.

I hope you spirit lifts soon and your back to usual self but please seek advice from your GP if these feelings continue. Take care x

If you're having thoughts of suicide, self harm or just feeling really down, go to your local A&E, they should have someone from the MH Crisis Team available to speak to and help with how you are feeling. They are there 24/7, I can't recommend them enough. Keep safe.

Re: Moans and Pet Hates part 8

I'm just feeling so stressed out right now, I'm the child with the most expectations now. My sister failed most of her A Levels, and now is only doing English Science and Sports. My brother failed most of his GCSE's so is having to go to college. He has to do a work experience week and he wants to do it with me, but there is no way I want him near my work. For a start, his attitude it appalling and also he, for some reason, doesn't like Polish people so he would clash with my manager.

Talking of whom, I am now in the middle of a massive dispute involving her. I don't know what to do for the best, 2 other managers I spoke to said I should speak to her if I will feel better for talking to her about it. Thing is, I don't know if I will feel better but I do feel she ought to know what is being said about her, and the fact that 2 people are going to make a malicious allegation against her with no basis.

Frankly, right now I feel like going sod this and just giving up on life. I wish I was back at school, there as none of this stress back then. Wake up, go to school come home eat sleep and repeat Monday to Friday.

Hugh 06-09-2016 13:51

Re: Moans and Pet Hates part 8

Mark, we have to deal with the bad things in life, as they rarely go away, and giving up just puts you back where you were previously (and you weren't happy then...).

Ask for a private meeting (but let her know it is work-related, to avoid any misunderstanding/confusion), and tell her what you know - it is then up to her to deal with it, not you.

However, be clear what you know, what you've heard directly from the two people, and what is rumour/hearsay, otherwise you could drop yourself in it if you have misunderstood things.

Just had a call from some offshore call centre regarding my PC, now I don't use a pc, but my parents do, and reading from some of the experiences from other members here in the past, I knew this sounded dodgy from the very start, so I just hung up on them, I'm usually pretty good at keeping things infection free and I know how to secure computers/Home networks. Why are these people allowed to do this sort of thing?:mad::mad:

Re: Moans and Pet Hates part 8

Right, am I being unreasonable here? I am at the office an hour early every shift, I help all 4 managers with their equipment, guns etc even though I am not with 3 of them on a given day, I haul the equipment out for them and help load it, I work my socks off and volunteer for overtime, even offering to go in for free and sort all the tags out for them on a day off. This week, after a 9 hour shift at Waitrose, I was one of 6 who volunteered to go and help out on another job.

What thanks do me and the non management get who helped our get? None. I feel very undervalued today. Monday, I'm looking for a new job. Can't keep pretending I'm happy there, the managers keep asking if we are OK and I turned around once and went does it matter if we say no, they said no. Charming.

Drivers that don't indicate at junctions.

Drivers that don't indicate when changing lanes.

And finally drivers that don't indicate when going around a roundabout and then not indicating to leave it......

They should all be made to retake their tests in my opinion.

Not really a moan or a pet hate but certainly not a happy thought. Osem Jnr #2 is heading off to college in about a week and will be boarding there Mon-Fri. I know it may seem odd to many people but I am going to miss him and worry about him so very much. Whilst I hope it will be a positive life changing experience for him, I'll be praying they care for him properly and that his time there will help him develop towards his full potential. I really can't express how it feels to be handing him over to the care of other people for so long except to say that it's a mixture of trepidation and hope. Despite all the challenges and difficulties he's presented us with over the years, he's the most special young man, I'll always love him dearly and I'll never stop caring or worrying about his welfare.

Never ask your current employer for a reference while you're still in your current job, the last thing you want them to know is you're thinking of leaving!

Most places ask for references after interviews, as it is much more work to do it for 20 unsuccessful candidates than one successful one - they may ask for a reference if you are shortlisted for an interview, but it is very unlikely that all applicants' references are requested, and by telling her this may happen, you could damage your working relationship (and any chances of being given further opportunities, as why would somebody give a good thing to someone who has said they are leaving...).

Can I also suggest you think about an answer (should you get to interview stage) to the question "why are you leaving your current job, as you've only been there a short while?".

You need to think of positive reasons, because if you say it is because you're unhappy due to (list of reasons), they will wonder if you will feel the same way in the new job, and this may count against you.

My advice to you would be to stay in your current job until you have at least a year's solid experience, which looks better on your CV than a short spell after a long period of unemployment.

I know you are having issues, but it is likely the same type of issues will arise wherever you go, and you do seem to (at times) to be enjoying what you do and are gaining good experience.

This is the soundest advice you'll ever hear, plus the can't all be wrong either.

Quite frankly I really cannot be bothered with going to dialysis any more I had to wait three and a half hours to go home. I mean ok if it was once or twice but it happens all the time.

I'm not going to put up with it again.

Dilli you have my sympathy, hospital transport at times can be chaotic.
It's a shame you can't get a friend to offer a run home for you.

They'd have to do it every time iirc. Such are the rules of patient transport

All good points, but I cannot be doing with the office politics anymore. I think my best course of action is to ask my manager for a one on one talk with her, and sit down with her away from others and talk through some of the issues I have.

Yes, I do like the job and by and large like the people I work with but sometimes it gets so bitchy that I just want to walk out on them all and never look back. 2 of the workers I get one with the best are both quitting at the end of the month, so once they go I will be one of the longest serving staff members there at just 3 months!

Sadly this all seems to stem from me being an idiot and telling her how I feel about her. Wish I had kept my big gob shut now. :(

Not a very big moan but it took some time to resolve.

I needed to make some changes to my Harmony remote. Simple enough you would think except that the upgrade procedure has changed. On the bright side it now knows about Virgin Media but it took me about half a dozen tries to get it back working properly.

I visited 2 locations to pick some sloes (public land) only to find the hedges slashed to ribbons. Probably by the guy in a tractor who "trims" them with a grass-cutting attachment.

Had an early start this morning, setting off at 6 am to drive back from Cornwall, back in town at noon. Client wants me to test out some boards before tomorrow. But tomorrow I'll have another early start to be in Leatherhead at 8:30 so can't even have a small lie-in to catch up sleep. No rest for the wicked. :(
