This season too I think.

Hence why Citeh were pleased Napoli got beaten as they would have been in pot two in their place if they had won it.

I think they will be anyway. They've changed the seeding process so that league champions are in Pot 1 irrespective of their UEFA coefficient.

l thought with yesterdays Bank Holiday it would be nice and quiet on the sacking front and expected the P45's to be handed out from today onwards but that thought soon became defunct very quickly with yesterdays happenings.

No thoughts now, worst kept secret in football that BFS wouldn't get a new deal, it was the reason for the teams slump from Christmas and the reason why BFS said he wouldn't be signing a new deal because he knew he wasn't going to be offered one! The only thing the two Dave's should've done was secured the replacement before kicking him out, it's no good being at the contract stage with Rafa only to have him usurped by Madrid and they should've made contact with Anchelotti's and Moyes advisers as to their availability before, don't particularly rate any of the other candidates, a mixture of gambles and journeymen.

It doesn't need to stick this time. This has literally torn apart every bit of reputation they had left. I find it extremely hard to believe Sepp Blatter is clueless about it too. I think it's time FIFA was torn down and rebuilt with ex footballers that have the game in mind. As it stands FIFA are on the verge of meltdown. This is a lot bigger and goes a lot deeper than people realize.

And they did stuff West Ham 6-0 in a cup semi whilst still in the old division 2.:p:

In fact considering the Latics have spent most of the last 50 odd years in the lower divisions their record against West Ham is not that bad.

3-0 if memory serves , I think we sent out the youth team that day and still won the tie 6-3.:D

I don't think they did put out a youth team, away from that plastic pitch there was every chance a youth team would've got more of mauling than just three. Shame about what happened in the final to

They made something out of pardew. You give any manager a decent sum of money and he can't do that bad. Then there's a fact he's replacing a guy that's won one match in his Newcastle managerial career.

An apparently reformed owner with money bags at the ready. £70 million available and 6 first team signings minimum. Could be the start of something new, could be another long drawn out lie. We'll see.

Re: Football Season 2014/15

That was stage one of my own process to resolve the FIFA crisis, step two is to overhaul FIFA from the inside, firstly by removing ANYONE without footballing experience, no more ex lawyers, ex w/e else. Only those with the tag of retired or ex footballer at a respectable level should be given roles that directly affect the footballing world I.E voting.

Step three: The removal of the World Cup from Russia and Qatar, both countries instantly disqualified for the following but not limited to: Corruption and bribery, slave labour and multiple counts of human rights violations, weekly racism with minimal punishment by the Russian FA. Because of the time it will take to push that through it's only feasible both World Cups are subsequently awarded to - 2018 - England and 2022 - The United States

This is based on both being the best available candidates in the rounds of bidding that could host a World Cup when asked within a year. (I.E If asked in 2017, England could easily have a successful world cup in 2018)

Spain and Portugal would also have a good shout, but in reality given the 2012 Olympics, England's infrastructure is more than the most capable.

If these changes are not made then nothing's changed, you've cut the head off a Hydra, not a snake. The corruption will just continue under another head and FIFA will resume the way it is.

The way they have it now is the assumption that the same folks that voted Blatter in will now vote to elect someone else, just no, that's hilariously stupid and nonsensical. Prince Ali bin Hussein is another with literally no footballing experience at all.

David Gill to head FIFA please.

I don't think you need to have someone with 'football experience' at FIFA necessarily. Realistically the act of playing football is different from that of running an organisation the size of FIFA. You can have advisory committees, experts on hand and groups to represent the players and managers but a lot of the management can be done by people who have learned their skills elsewhere.

If anything that could be what FIFA needs most. Not someone who has risen up in FIFA or any of affiliated organisations but someone from the world of business or the public sector with experience of running, and reforming, a large organisation.

I think it would be very limiting and damaging to restrict the pool to people who were 'ex-players at a respectable level' when a lot of their background wouldn't be relevant to running an organisation.

I don't think two of the nations most linked to getting the World Cups removed should host it. France, Spain, Germany, Canada (maybe), Australia and a few more would be better placed iMO. Also let's not pretend we were entirely clean over the 2018 bid.

Thus it starts. It's generally accepted Qatar shouldn't be hosting the world cup. However why is this solely aimed at them? Russia and their bid was just as shady. Does this mean we generally accept that Racism and homophobic behaviour is acceptable and should turn a blind eye? Or do we complain after the wold cup is finished and every African player has been racially abused? Do we just take FIFA's official stance of shaking hands with the racist and pretending not to be gay.

Watch a Russian League team, look for the black player and watch it unfold. Even better, ask Peter Odemwingie whom upon leaving was taunted with a banner thanking West Brom stylized with Bananas. Disgusting country with a disgusting attitude.

Ukraine situation.

Corruption.

Whatever other reasons there's left, probably a few.

Sometimes having a sponsor can taint your brand.

adzii_nufc 05-06-2015 00:53

Re: Football Season 2014/15

Barclays didn't taint it and there's not many brands they'd take on that could. Barclays had a ring to it and that's always crucial for something as massive as the EPL. It was always abbreviated BPL or EPL. Diageo Premier League just sounds daft, The DPL. I don't care how much they wanted, some things just sound plain stupid and that's one of them.

This being said Diageo or anyone else should be paying a lot more than what the league actually wanted, £60 million is buttons to have exposure in every country in the world every week.

Anyone come up with a good one?

The Netflix Premier League
McDonald's Premier League
Wonga Premier League
Sports Direct@English Premier League
Samsung Premier League s6 (SPL)
The Dogecoin premier league (see Nascar crowdfunding event)
The EA Premier League (See any FIFA game)

My comment was talking about some clubs who pick sponsors who then don't turn out to be quite what their club was looking for and sponsors in other sports.

I think loan sharks are the last in need of being banned. Wonga shouldn't be allowed to sponsor any premier league club. Fortunately it seems Newcastle United won't be renewing.

King gaming Premier League, here's a tiny bit of the trophy, win 4 more times to unlock it all or pay a one time fee of £36 million to unlock it now.

Back to FIFA, Jack Warner has turned whistle blower and looks to directly implicate blatter, should the evidence be substantial then expect Blatters immediate arrest.

The public expect to see players setting a good example not half of the time but all the time as footballers get paid very well compared to Joe Public and thus must show the responsibility that comes with their astronomical wages and stature.
