I agree but why do you have an aversion to conducting your own diagnostics so you can reply to them with evidence?

Seems total stupidity to me but then again, what do I know?

I send to my own thread on the VM forum: thinkbroadband graphs, network logs, levels logs, status logs for EVERY occasion this fault appears. As they requested.

A new PSU, new SHUB2ac, 2 tech visits... and they appear to be none the wiser. As a telecomms tech myself I know how frustrating intermittent faults can be, so I am providing them with as much evidence as possible.

If I was not tech-savvy at all, would they expect the same?

Quite true but I note the use of the word "should". e.g. how many times have you seen a light bulb fail when you switch it on compared with a bulb failing when its on ? :D

So you've proved it happens every 3 or 4 days after powering down every night but not that it doesn't if you leave it powered on 24/7 as you've only done that once (24/24).

From the forum team...

I can see there are some issues with SNR and FECS (Signal to Noise Ratio and Forward Error Corrections).

What are they doing about it?

"Monitoring" I think. And it's getting very frustrating for myself and the family in the meantime. :(

Tech coming sometime in the next week to "reset" things.

Tech has just been. External splitter changed. SNR levels improved but still poor. He's going to access all logs and call back later.

He thinks it's an area problem.

The Network Manager is going to be involved.

New connection after rejoining Virgin. Last 3 days have been more or less the same.

A VM guy on the forum said SNR was now in spec and the fault was closed. Ahem... it's still doing the same thing. And today we have only 1 upstream.

You got some serious problems, try rebooting it again to see if you get 2 upstreams!

You have contacted the CEO office i guess?

Re: Think Broadband Ping Monitor Results (POST YOURS)

The second upstream just reappeared.

It's been a long period of the same problem, dating back beyond 23rd September when I started a thread about it on their forums.

http://community.virginmedia.com/t5/...up/m-p/2917052

It's not every day, but about 3 or 4 times a week. I've been posting them the relevant info as it appeared.

Long periods between responses from VM though. Moved to SHUB 2ac, new PSU, multiple checks... same fault.

Time to take it higher as you suggest.
