I can;t understand why you all waste so much effort/memory on such trivia.

I find my desktop 'wallpaper' takes up less memory and doesn't interfere with my icons in any way.

Maybe, but I find that most of my applications get in the way!
If you know of a way I can enjoy that view AND work on my computer, then please don't tell me, as I'll only get jealous!!!
