Re: General TiVo Discussion Part 2

Just tried rigging up the HDMI and SCART outputs simultaneously expecting only one or the other to work, but both do. Have to say I'm very impressed: could be handy for watching some recorded shows on a smaller set while the main TV is tied up with, say, games console output or something.

OK, press the Home button and select 'Settings'

https://www.cableforum.co.uk/images/...2011/09/21.jpg

Select 'Display'

Select 'Screen'

Under 'Display Area' select 'Full Pixel'

I've done that now, I had to turn Auto Display Area off.

Thanks a lot. :)

No problem. You should now find that HD channels look slightly sharper as they're not being rescaled.

If they are staff wouldn't they know the full list of updates? There is at least one biggy not in that list.

Maybe they were holding that one back ;)

To be fair, that one has to be coded from the ground up I'd imagine. It's not simply a case of dumping the source code that handles the red button functions from the older V or V+ HD boxes. As I know it, the TiVo Premiere uses Java (i.e. the "old" looking parts of the UI which were clearly optimised for 4:3 SD sets) with Flash overlay for the HD parts, and the older boxes Virgin used are something entirely different.

Every time you press the red button on a sky channel it sends a small electric shock to Rupert's nether-regions! It's my new number one used feature!

Plus if the CNBC red button app is anything to go by, the red button apps are separate from the main code downloads.

Sky Movies subscribing App added to Tivo although l see the Sky Sports one is still advertising August's highlights.

Re: General TiVo Discussion Part 2

I was hoping VM would add a temporary subscription option to the Sky Sports channels, I'll be honest. When you load the new app it boasts "75p per day!", which for certain events I'd be happy to pay for 24 hour access. Temporary passes would be better than spending £22.50/month when I'm not going to watch those channels most of the time.

I suppose it's asking a lot, but if PPV access is going to be added for big events like WBA boxing matches, why not PPV on Sky Sports or Movies channels for a week or less? It might tempt some of the more fairweather sports fans like myself to eventually upgrade to a sports package if the household finds it useful.

Just a thought!

The trouble is that l suspect Sky dictates the carriage terms of their contract with Virgin and l somehow doubt they would allow Virgin to do this unless they were doing it themselves.

Re: General TiVo Discussion Part 2

Yeah, I thought it might be too much to ask. The clue is Sky channels not watchable in the top-right PiP when you're in any HD TiVo menus. Sky are such rip-off merchants, it's a shame they have the rights to so many event these days and people are happy to pay to be gouged, even VM customers by proxy.

My TiVo crashed & rebooted again during my evening viewing yesterday.

Has it been mentioned that the new update will include stability fixes to iron out these crashes?
