Does the V+ HD do mpeg4?

Eventually, yes.

The SA V+HD isn't MPEG4 and I'm sure the Samsung V+HD isn't, but Spiderplant will know :)

I think DF meant the non PVR VHD box.

Yes you're right; I spotted that after posting.

Is it possible to change parental control ?

All I can find is hide adult channels......

I thought it would be a good idea to hide the adult channels.... with a 6 year old in the house.

The only problem was that it made CN and CN-Too 'unavailable'..... which just happens to be the 2 channels he watches

To be honest, I should hope it's no better a deal than I got.

I was an existing customer too, after all.

The real trick is VM trying to get V+ customers to switch to TiVo in the years ahead!

The Samsung V+ is MPEG4 ready, the older SA V+ box isn't.

I'm also going to have to experiment with this New only/New and repeats/All setting when scheduling recordings.

Noticed an item in my 'future planner' had a little note to say it was going to be clipped to avoid a clash....which was an intersting little feature I hadn't noticed before.

However, having investigated a little more I noticed that it was caused by the exact same program being scheduled to be recorded on 3 channels (using all 3 tuners simultaneously) at the same time

BBC2, BBC2AD and BBC HD

Was it stated somewhere that VM could possibly load TIVO software onto the Non PVR VHD box?

Yes I am sure Df said that TiVo software can be loaded onto the V HD box.

Remember the VHD box and TiVo PVR are both Cisco boxes, so I think the hardware must be compatable!

Yes! DF did say that the plan was to eventually install TiVo software on the Cisco V HD box.

Indeed that is my assumption.

Shouldn't take long then :erm:

There are still Pace boxes out and being used some 10 years since TW:AD launched.

The fact they're both from the same manufacturer is neither here nor there. Cisco (at least the Set Top Box division) was previously known as Scientific Atlanta - doesn't mean the SA V+ is going to get this upgrade. The Samsung could be a possible candidate but I doubt they'll do their customers that much of a favour.

The Samsung V+HD is not compatible with TiVo software. The SA V+HD could take the download in theory, but is unlikely.
