Re: *All* ntl 10meg Discussion (part 2)
A few months down the line we will all be 10mb customers,
by natural upgrade or by phoning customer services et al. By then we will be purchasing 'bandwidth' from ntl rather than speed by the service price differences. This is very difficult for the customer to measure (networked computers, voip etc) and does not seem to be tangible as a purchased product. This may create issues for ntl in charging people for things they can not easily 'see'. |
Re: *All* ntl 10meg Discussion (part 2)
I really cant believe NTL! New customers only until next month! They need to look after existing customers rather than just attracting new ones! TUT TUT NTL you should be ashamed of yourselves!

Re: *All* ntl 10meg Discussion (part 2)
I don't have the will to read all the posts since this morning but as I hinted then Ring Retentions, tell them you want the 10Mbps you are entitled to (you could point out that if you downgraded you could then upgrade online).

Its plainly clear not many people in this thread are capable of apreciating what it takes to roll out a product like this on this scale. Billing systems need adjusting for new customers and for existing and the service needs deploying from the headends per area. This is/was never going to happen over night for the entire country. Yes we are seeing it start and possibly ntl could have put out a communication to every customer but can you just think what would happen if they did email everyone. Quote:

1.yes they did but never gave any timescales. 2.Randomly? how do you come to that conclusion? I really would like to know what you base that on. Trial area are picked for their suitability for monitoring and for the types of hardware present. 3. No comment, its all un-official at present and not in a state for a press releases so thereââ‚ƚ¬Ã¢â€žÂ¢s no press release, its not rocket science. 4. Really?, every employee gets given a email or memo stating what they are and are not allowed to say, badgering some might get rumours. 5. Remind me all you like, but its never going to change the way this type of product is rolled out because thatââ‚ ¬Ã¢â€žÂ¢s the way it has to be done. When you have a Qualification in risk management, configuration management, change control or any of the other IT management qual then you may be in the position to criticise them. Also they should have maybe said the first tier to get the upgrades with be tier 3. That way they would have covered themselves because thereââ‚ƚ¬Ã¢â€žÂ¢s always a hand full that can't comprehend whatââ‚ ¬Ã¢â€žÂ¢s happening. Systems like this roll out in three or more stages. 1. Reboot (catches modems that are rebooted) 2. Overnight (catches all modems that are on standby overnight and reboots them) 3. Forced (force reboots the modem as and when it can) This order might not be right though and its based on what they have done in the past so may not be whatââ‚ ¬Ã¢â€žÂ¢s happening now. Of course if you go and do the job your self and migrate to tier three you get it straight away. Its done like this to minimise impact to the network/cs centres. |
Re: *All* ntl 10meg Discussion (part 2)
my advice is to keep phoning until you get someone who will upgrade you.. I phoned 2 times, the first person said it was done, but it wasn't, and the second done it properly. heck, he even said i was the first one he did today...

Re: *All* ntl 10meg Discussion (part 2)
Why do I get the feeling I should have left my account with the 10 meg config until the new modem comes tomorrow. It sounds as though I may have fun trying to get it back again!
