Sorry MB if I got it wrong. Just thought it was somewhat childish to post such a comment. Sorry Carl IF you really had not worked that out for yourself :)

As Sony have says I have seen no news of Virgin being in talks with Sony UK for this channel.

I'm not sure if they are in talks or not yet, but I believe that they made the above statement about wanting to concentrate on Sky and VM on their facebook page.

Diva TV is preparing to make a comeback on satellite. It is not yet known if this is because it is relaunching (in which case it may return to VM too) or simply to serve as a placeholder in connection with the Sky EPG rules (in which case i'm sure it won't return to VM until/if the new channel that it is really for decides to launch on cable)

It doesn't look like there are plans, as of yet, for Sony TV to launch on Virgin.

Sony have posted the following on their Facebook page, in reply to people asking if the channel will be on Virgin:

"Sony TV (UK): Hi guys, currently the Sony Movie Channel will sit on the Sky platform, channel 323 and 324 for +1. if our plans change for other platforms we'll let you know. Thanks."

I do not why NBC who did own Diva TV are testing for as they have sold Diva TV +1 EPG Channel slot to an other broadcaster with Diva TV Slot being sold to Channel 4 for More4 +2 on Sky.

Maybe Style +1 is set to launch on Sky?

That's a pity. They aren't really launching with a bang. Most of their current "roster" of movies have been regulars on Sony TV in recent months such as Panic Room, Secret Window and The Forgotten. I suspect however that movies on Sony TV might start drying up shortly with the launch of this new channel.

What date did they say that Chad?

On 3 February 2012 at 14:42 they said in response to this question:

"Is Sony TV coming to Freesat in 2012?"

Sony TV (UK) "Hi Samuel. There are no immediate plans for Freesat although we are constantly looking at new platforms. But currently trying to consoldiate our presence on Sky and Virgin Media. Thanks!"

Source:http://forums.digitalspy.co.uk/showthread.php?t=1617262

I suppose we must go by the most up to date statement.

Thanks. Yours is the most recent statement, so I guess it isn't coming from the start. A lot of new channels gauge how popular they are on satellite first as more people can get it, before entering into a contract with VM.

I imagine that this is why we don't get a lot of channels on VM from launch day. On the plus side, this does mean we are shielded from a lot of dross and don't have channels coming on and off the EPG every five minutes!

It's almost unheard-of for cable to carry a channel from launch. The only examples in recent memory regarding VM are SSF1, PBS and ITV1 +1.

BBC portfolio cut as ITV takes French Open.

It never rains but it pours for poor old Auntie. Just a month after the Royal & Ancient Golf Club warned the BBC that its dwindling interest in golf could threaten its hold on future television coverage of The Open, ITV will rip another plank from the corporation's platform as a holder of major sports rights with more than 150 hours of coverage of the French Open tennis tournament.

Although the BBC's commitment to the year's second Grand Slam event sometimes appeared half-hearted, with much of the coverage available only via the red button, the loss is significant in that it demonstrates ITV's determination to challenge for a broad range of sports rights.

Bleeding Beeb: Sport the BBC has lost

Cricket England Test Matches – lost rights to Channel 4 in 1999.

World Rally Championship Lost rights to Channel 4 in 2001.

Boat Race Lost rights in 2004, regained in 2010.

Football FA Cup and England home internationals – lost in 2008 to ITV.

Rugby union Anglo-Welsh Cup – lost rights in 2009 to Sky.

Cricket The Ashes – lost rights to show highlights of 2010-11 series.

Athletics Lost the 2011 and 2013 World Championships to Channel 4 (BBC has rights for 2015 and 2017).

Formula One Reduced from this season to just 10 races, Sky will show full calendar.

Golf Masters – last year lost rights to all four days to Sky, but still hold rights to the final two days.

Tennis French Open – to be broadcast on ITV from this year.

Horse Racing Grand National – will be shown on Channel 4 from next year.

I don't get this. In your post, which I also quoted, it clearly states that M4M will be changing to the Sony Movies Channel; or whatever. So is this a different channel to the one that Sony says is on Sky only for the moment?

Hmmm.... a thought just occured. I assumed we got M4M on VM. No?
