The videos are amazing. Its a shame they don't offer the movies in high quality for download. What frame rate did yours render at mate?

phew just pipped you at 783. no wonder things go a little slower during COD for me.

Lower than me mate, I get 1090 in 3DMark03. And no one ask me to run 3DMark05, as my Radeon 8500LE is Dx8, so Pixel Shader version 2 is not possible :(

Dual-core is slower for gaming until they code the apps to run on both CPUs.

I think its greatest benefit will be multi tasking,I used to watch my old hyperthreading pentium4 pretend it had 2 cpus,The 2 cores will just allow you to do regular number crunching better till the said code is written,A little side note, good old intel's low end dual core cpus dont have hyper threading so im not sure of how much better these will be than the old one, however the ludicrusly priced extreme edition does hyperthread giving 4 virtual cpu's

Re: Building my own PC

I almost feel ashamed to post in this thread, but just in case it helps...

I have an ATI 9800se 'All in Wonder' graphics card - yes, I know, but I wanted the TV tuner & a full, not 'se' AIW9800 was big bucks, at the time...

I heard of a 'softmod' driver that would turn on the extra 4 pipelines on the card & make it nearly equivalent to a full 9800 card, but the driver only worked with windows xp - I had win98se...

But then - I recently upgraded to XP and decided to try it.

I found uninstalling all existing drivers was the way to go - once the softmod driver & WDM files were installed in a 'clean' system I loaded my multimedia (MMC) package as another seperate install, using the cd supplied with the card. The trick here was using <shift> to avoid the autorun installation, which in my case kept overwriting the modded driver - groundhog day, anyone...

- so, running just the MMC install from the original cd restored my TV player

- and my 3dmark3 score is now 5381 (athlon 2600, 512MB pc3200, 40GB 7200rpm ide)

nowhere near our 'bleeding edge' members, but, hey, I am old enough to be easily pleased ;)
