[Can I remove my tin hat yet?]

I am tempted by the NTL ADSL Offnet offering, but everyone else and their dog is upgrading their offerings to 2Mb.

Do you think NTL will offer a similar ADSL upgrade path in the near future?

mid febuary and still no 3MB...... thats bad my cable modem 1.5Mb is now sitting in the courner of the room unused as its not xbox enabled wont be much good anymore, i think the move to ukonline was a wise move 2Mb unmeterd for 29.99 until next month roll on 8Mb. even though the modem comes with router and closed ports you have control over the modem and can at any time turn off the router and open any ports so it is no problem.. speeds are good 230kbytes :-)
though isps in canada have a 15GB cap on a 5.5Mb connection i am told, soft cap and customers going over doesent bother them. but its there
compared to that makes ntl look very good

The ports aren't blocked on your router they would be blocked further down the line where you couldn't change it..

I've just been on the phone to NTL for another issue, but the guy on the phone could confirm the increases were happening in March, and at no charge. :)

Does this mean though that we are to put on these new speeds with the cap without a choice of sticking at the speeds we are at now with the soft cap? If so I don't want to be moved to 3meg

Can I be the first to say,

YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Now we need a definition of soft cap, im guessing it means if you go over you wont loose service but if you take the **** we will send you a nasty letter!

:)

good news all round then.. listed as a soft cap so i assume it will be like now where if you go over it not alot happens unless you hammer it and take 30 GB a day for several days in a row..

i can see this taking ages to roll out in the broadband through a STB areas though, which i'm in..

my understanding is that you need to have a sumsung box for 1 MB or higher so my STB and most of the others in my area will need updating
