It was fairly descent. It's wasn't LOL like the other films I've watched over the last few days. |

My film this week? London Boulevard. Excellent film in which Colin Farrell plays a London gangster who comes out of prison and is hired by David Thewlis to protect a reclusive actress (played by Keira Knightley). Well acted, particularly by Colin Farrel and Anna Friel (who plays his drug and drink addled sister). Both of whom do excellent London accents (I was actually surprised to hear Anna Friel doing a London accent because I've never heard her speak in anything but a Rochdale accent). Keira also puts in a good performance. She uses her own accent (not sure if she can do any others) but is believable in her role. Ray Winstone is also wonderfully threatening, although he does play the role the same way he often does. If I have to pick a complaint it's in the spoilers. Spoiler:

Re: Rate the last movie you saw
Yesterday I watched The Last Legion on DVD about the fictional origins of the sword Excalibur.
Wonderfully entertaining, although no classic, it was enjoyable though. Asian star Aishwarya Rai was in it, she was very good acting along with Colin Firth, Ben Kingsley and a host of other British stars. Deserves to be better known. |
Re: Rate the last movie you saw

Gremlins (DVD)
8.5/10. The Great Escape (DVD) 9/10. If I was rating it purely as a DVD it'd get a lot lower... Se7en (BD) 9/10. My favourite Fincher film. |
Re: Rate the last movie you saw
Die Hard (DVD)
10/10. Action classic. "Yippee-kai-yay <kemo sabe>" [ITV language there ;) ] Home Alone (DVD) 8/10 Madagascar (TV) Meh. It ain't no Pixar movie... Die Hard 2: Die Harder (DVD) 8/10 "How can the same <stuff> happen to the same guy twice?" Shrek the Third (TV) Crap. The Nightmare Before Christmas (BD) 9/10 Die Hard With a Vengeance (DVD) OK, so 3 & 4 aren't Christmasy, but I thought I may as well watch the whole tetralogy. 7.5/10 Good stuff, & Samuel L Jackson is great. Doesn't make any sense however why McClane is back in NYC, seeing as he moved to LA before DH2, but I guess you're not meant to get hung on on things like that... |
Re: Rate the last movie you saw
You forgot live free or die hard. The fourth in the series.
|
Re: Rate the last movie you saw
I didn't forget it, I hadn't watched it yet.
Die Hard 4.0 Over the top nonsense... loved it. 8/10 |

Kick-Ass 9/10
Absolutely loved this film, went into it blind not knowing what to expect & enjoyed every minute. If you get the chance to see it, do. Tomorrow "when the war began" 5.9/10 Australian Red Dawn wanna-be, but not having read the books I'm not overly impressed with the story-line. Its worth a watch on a Sunday afternoon, after dinner. Something to sleep too. |
Re: Rate the last movie you saw
Casablanca 9/10 very good and worth the score for most of Bogart's clichéd sayings being in one movie.
|
Re: Rate the last movie you saw
Batman Begins (BD)
9/10 The Dark Knight (BD) 9.5/10 The Usual Suspects (BD) 10/10 |

Re: Rate the last movie you saw
Megamind 7/10.
Quite enjoyable, but I am sure the Jor-El/Marlon Brando impersonation will go over most kid's heads.... |
Re: Rate the last movie you saw
It's a Trap 8 /10
enjoyed it as much as the other two Star Wars Family Guy parodies. |
Re: Rate the last movie you saw
Last two films: Gulliver's Travels: 6/10. Quite entertaining. Good special effects. Typical Jack Black take on the storyline. Emily Blunt and Amanda Peet are sexy.
Knight and Day: All I can say is meh.. 4/10. While I normally like Cameron Diaz (she *does* have good comic timing IMO), and like a lot of Tom Cruise's films, this one tried to combine action comedy and serious drama. As such, it largely failed at both, although it was entertaining in places. |

The King's Speech 9/10 most definitely going to be major awards winner this year, much better than I expected it to be as I had to take the other half.

Re: Rate the last movie you saw
Cronos 6/10
Like Devil's backbone, interesting premise, starts off well, but gets a bit slow, and started to lose interest. |

The Switch (Jennifer Aniston / Jason Bateman).
6/10 - not as predictable as your usual romcom, but Spoiler:

Re: Rate the last movie you saw
They have spent a long time converting it though so it should look better than some 2D/3D conversions. I have noticed that no cinemas near me are showing it in 2D at all this week, seems to be 3D only :-( Hopefully it will be just for this week.
Gulliver's Travels 7/10 - Very funny and I really enjoyed it, but probably only cause I am a big Jack Black fan. |

Excellent! 9/10 Colin Firth definitely deserved last night's Golden Globe, & hopefully will get the Oscar too. Pity the film didn't win anything else though at the Globes. |

Re: Rate the last movie you saw
Gomorrah 7/10
quite interesting a lot slower than the trailer I had seen led me to believe. Shows Italy in a different light to what we usually see, much like The Wire in seasons 1 and 2 does for USA. |
Re: Rate the last movie you saw
Severance 7/10
started off bad, but as it got going I started enjoying the black humor/silliness of it. Didn't recognize "Percy" from Blackadder, I couldn't put name to face, when missus said who it was, it was quite obvious! |
Re: Rate the last movie you saw
Inception
Brilliant |
Re: Rate the last movie you saw
Black Swan 6/10
Should have gone with gut feeling, and not gone to see a film about the ballet :( It was better than The Fountain (which missus and I thought was boring pretentious nonsense) but nowhere near as good as Pi. The last 3rd was good, but build up was slow, and very uninteresting about boring predictable characters. However, when it was trying to be a Japanese/Korean horror film it was quite good, although at times it seemed to be ripping off the Buffy the Vampire Slayer episodes when Faith turns up and tries to corrupt the Slayers. Definitely over hyped and over rated. |
Re: Rate the last movie you saw
127 hours. 8/10
Very good but maybe the direction was a bit too wacky for my tastes, still recommended. Perhaps the funniest bit was the bunch of neds up the back who were quite vocal throughout went very quiet during the gruesome bits and stayed quiet for the rest of the film :D |
Re: Rate the last movie you saw
Zodiac 8/10
got it in Currys £5 on Blu Ray over Christmas, only just got round to watching it, really good edge of seat stuff, very interesting in places, Jake G and Robert Downey Jr are excellent in it, well Downey Jr plays the part he plays in everything, but does it so well ;) |
Re: Rate the last movie you saw

` Gary Moore and Friends` `One Night In Dublin` ` A Tribute To Phil Lynott` again. Must have seen this about 30 times now.!:D |

Re: Rate the last movie you saw
Black Swan 6/10 a good movie but well overrated in the press.
|
Re: Rate the last movie you saw
Red - 7/10 - Not a bad film, quite enjoyable
Paranormal activity 2 - 5/10 - Occasional semi scare, some creepy bits, but overrated like the first one. |
Re: Rate the last movie you saw
No Strings Attached 10/10 Starring: Ashton Kutcher, Natalie Portman, very funny movie part of the Movies First Scheme from Virginmedia not released until Friday 25 February 2011 but well worth going to see.
|
Re: Rate the last movie you saw
Where Eagles Dare (BD)
10/10. Absolute classic WWII action-adventure spy film. Richard Burton & Clint Eastwood on an impossible mission to infiltrate a German mountain fortress = win. |
Re: Rate the last movie you saw
Repo Men
7/10 I would have probably given it less (especially because of the ending! I hate when they do that! You'll know what I mean if you watch it) But I gave it 7 as it was pretty violent especially when they repo the poeple hehe! :D |
Re: Rate the last movie you saw
North by Northwest (BD, 50th Anniversary Edition)
Absolute cinematic masterpiece. A classic. My favourite Hitchcock film. 10/10 |
Re: Rate the last movie you saw
Sanctum 3D 9/10 very good movie, based on a true story
|
Re: Rate the last movie you saw
Never Let Me Go 4/10 a rather depressing storyline which is rather nasty in many ways, it would have scored lower except for a stellar cast Starring: Keira Knightley, Carey Mulligan, Andrew Garfield, Charlotte Rampling, Sally Hawkins
|

The King's Speech - 8/10.
