British soldier paired with US soldier now where have I seen that before.:D

Always a problem when you have a British broadcaster co-producing with an American broadcaster.:D

Somebody hinted on an earlier post that the Premier Sports deal could be ending soon. Is it possible that Virgin are looking to do a new deal which would include Premier Sports in HD as well as Freesports?

According to that fact about Sky One going Ultra HD that’s incorrect because at moment only doing shows in UHD because I work in call centre for Sky we not been told this and long wait how not done either Sky Cinema nor Sky Sports yet in UHD channel format

TiVo have literally only just launched their new UI in the US. When the Virgin TV V6 launched there was no other TiVo UI to use.

It also means that there is a consistent UI for all TiVo boxes Virgin Media currently install.

You work in a call centre because you guys know what's coming. You didn't even know about skygo not working on chrome or firefox (not you personally btw).
So i'd trust call centre workers as much as i trust Theresa May which is zero.

Having had one for a couple of weeks now, it is damn quick and as for looks...it's a box and as mine is behind the TV on the floor, you can't actually see it, so not that bothered what it looks like.

As I say agreed regards speed , as you say looks is not an issue for those who have it where it can't be seen but these days many people do factor how something looks in hence why the likes of Apple , Samsung etc spend so much money on design.

The V6 bix is small, quick and unobtrusive - what is there not to like.

It doesn't have lights that go round when you play a recording (unlike sky box) but personally I don't watch those lights I'm watching my tv.

Had the V6 boxes since Feb and very impressed overall

For the record I hate the light myself , the only consolation is since the last update it's not quite as bright.:D

Clearly looks will always be subjective , I'm not on my own in this though many of the reviews say similar. If the worst I can find is the looks then clearly I agree with most of what you say.

It is a bit of an ugly beast but I agree that the functionality is what is most important.

So the topic is coming soon to Virgin Media. So what is coming to VM?
I really don't think this is the thread for the various virtues or defects of
the V6. Plenty of V6 threads for that.

That's always been the case for Virgin Media Store. You don't need to be a customer to use the website or mobile apps.

However the only TV app for Virgin Media Store is on a Virgin TV V6 box

Following on from Sky Sports and Sky Basic having been given an new look.

Last night saw Sky Cinema given an new look - logo now all red and white.

Sky plc has still to do Sky News.

Also the new 5 Spike logo has appeared on TiVo Boxes.

At least there's development on that front to look forward to.

I'm afraid that channel re-namings, logo changes, renumbering of channels and DNPs that no-one knows what they are and we rarely get to find out about until the change is actually delivered, all leaves me cold.

I don't know, though. The BBC haven't changed their idents for a while and ITV may find themseves with a different channel number...

I think MB is just trying to keep the 'Coming Soon' thread alive with all these DNPs that we don't have a clue what they refer to and rarely seem to arrive. It's become nothing but smoke and mirrors.

I doubt we will get any worthwhile new channels in 2018, but I am hopeful that we may get some more streaming services and additional UHD content.

Anyone hoping for more than that is likely to be disappointed. :walk:

Only channel we're aware of that should be arriving early 2018 is Freesports we know talks are on going.
Other than that we have no further channel info, however a year is a very long time in the media industry so who knows.

Yes, Freesports is the only channel that I've been told about (though there are those 16 services that jj20x found).

I wonder if the delay to adding Freesports is anything to do with this:

My word, Den - thanks for the commentary!

Where else would you go? As I've explained zillions of times, I don't want Sky, the others are inferior services and a move to streaming only is premature at this stage, given that we are in a transitional period.

However, the point I am making is that new channels have all but dried up and VM are on a go slow when it comes to new streaming services.

Well, the only decent channels worth having now are AMC and Sky Atlantic. If we get AMC, it will be under a deal in the 2019 negotiations with BT, and as for Sky Atlantic - well, I'll let Dave answer that one. :D

Any developments of note next year, if they happen, will relate to streaming services and UHD. I am not expecting any other major changes. I'm still optimistic about Amazon, that would be simply wonderful, and an indication that VM are firmly in tune with the future.

Vm seem to have accepted being behind sky and BT. Rather than new services to compete they’re happy with the lot they’ve got and can brag to shareholders of increasing profits mainly due to such massive price hikes constantly

Hope Liberty sell up. They’ve been awful owners so far

Don't quite agree there, Vince. We are only down on two worthwhile channels (AMC and SA) and VM, in all likelihood, will step up our access to streaming services/apps which Sky don't have.

With the new UI just around the corner and more exclusive content promised, I think that VM are catching up fast now.

I was cancelling Premier Sports for a couple of months after the rugby league World Cup

If Premier Sports have lost NRL rights I will not need to re-subscribe.

The article only mentions streaming, nothing about being on scheduled channels,

Is there anyway to record streaming for viewing later (cannot watch when games are on live)?

Sports get badly treated on I-player/catch-up facilities, I hope your assumption is correct but would far prefer to be able to record the stream in some way.

I wonder if I could utilise my hard disk on my DVD recorder having set the streaming up through virgin?

This would have the added benefit of being able to edit out pre-amble, half-time and summaries.

"In 2018, that promise comes to life when Fox Sports delivers the world's first international NRL streaming service to feature every NRL game plus Fox League's famous entertainment shows – anywhere, anytime live and on demand."
It also says Fox sports will be handling the UK and USA broadcast rights which suggests it may still also be available on a Sports channel just no mention of who.

I'm quick to slate vm but i disagree with vm being behind yes they have less channels than SKY and bts AMC isn't nothing exciting, however vm have the most channels on their online tv service i can't remember what it's called and unlike SKY vm do not use the clunky outdated silverlight either.
