Sad to hear your news. You must have a lot of happy memories from those 92 years to take with you which must be some consolation at this time.

So very sorry for your lose Osem.

My moan and pet hate, had a cracking day out on the motorbike on Sunday, down to Thirsk, up over Sutton bank to Helmsley, Pickering and then onto Whitby.

Parked up at the Whistlestop Cafe, had a cup of tea. Got my gear back on. Went to swing my right leg over the bike, my back locks up and i fall over backwards in slow motion comedy style.

Two nice people helped me back onto my bike, rode home in excruciating agony. now in excruciating pain & taking painkillers like they're going out of fashion

Well the funeral date's been set for a couple of weeks and that'll properly signal the end of an era. It wasn't always a trouble free relationship as my father and I were poles apart in many ways but I admire what he managed to achieve through sheer hard work and with precious little help from the welfare state or education system along the way. I must admit that, during my childhood I greatly resented the second hand clothes, lack of holidays etc. etc. but, had my parents not been frugal all their lives, none of us children would've had the help we later did. He was a tough old boot and as infuriating as he often was, I will miss him.

For the first time ever, last night during work I had a hypo. Insulin injection, plus not eating from 8 Sunday night to ten past 6 yesterday evening = a hypo. Manager, whilst at first angry (but then she had just had a screaming match with a co worker) was very sympathetic and when I felt sick she accompanied me to the toilets and waited outside to see how I was after.

I think, despite the moaning the co workers do, I am going to enjoy it there.

I'm apparently the number one child in the family. My 17 year old sister failed her hazard perception part of her driving theory test, and my 16 year old brother, along with 2 friends, got arrested and cautioned by police at 4 this morning for weed.

I'm so disappointed with him, for all the faults I've got/had, I never touched drugs, cannot abide cigarettes and very rarely touch alcohol.

People who steal and break in someones home leaving them scared  One of my neighbours got broken into on Saturday when she was in her bed sleeping they woke her up with the noise they were making but she did nothing and pretended to sleep through it very brave and smart woman IMO.

The weird thing is I went down the stairs roughly about 2am as our dog was going mental at the patio doors and when I let him out he went straight to the side gates and started to growl with his hackles up so this is when I felt uneasy at his reaction to something that was obliviously there although I saw nothing I decided to shut & lock the door leaving him outside and got hubby to check and bring him in as he was not going to come in for me as he was not budging from the side gate. Hubby saw nothing but did admit that the dog was acting rather strange makes me wonder if they in our garden and the dog moved them on to their next victim. The thieves have been caught on a other neighbours CCTV that has now been handed in to the police.

We remember 16 years ago when l was in ITU in a specialist London hospital when my partner received a phone call saying our place had been broken into so a family member had to sort things out until my partner travelled back several days later to see the mess and talk to the police but being broken into is like getting your privacy invaded as it takes a fair while to get over it.

So I did, I apologised 3 times to her during the shift and she was fine about it. I think she has a soft spot for me, she shouts at everyone else but speaks to me like I'm human.

Of course it might be because I'm new still to the job.

Bias dress codes in shops.

I mean the one that allow a woman to wear a size 12 leggings when she's a size 24.

But a security guard runs after a guy (nearly knocking someone over) who walking in in tracksuit bottoms but no top, he did have a six pack.

There is an large hilly embankment round half of our building and the council have been cutting the grass for 28 years, now they say they have no money and with cut backs they are no longer going to cut the grass, unless we pay for it, They say it would be cheaper to get someone to cut it privately, but the two council tenants are on benefits, so no chance of getting money off them, ,

I also asked if we fill in a form as we are over 70 and have a blue badge and fit all the requirements would we get our garden and back green cut for free as stated on the website. They said it would cost us £140 a year. Makes you sick when you here about all these people who get everything that is going.

That works until they change whats in the aisles. I went to Homebase yesterday for a bulb and couldn't find any. Then I realised they had moved them upstairs with lighting. What was really annoying was when I got home I found the bulb I wanted. Still these will probably needed shortly as this is the second bulb to fail on the chandelier so the others should be going soon.

So er, finished work last night then had to wait an hour for the minibus home. Solicitors and IFA's

IFA because he gave the wrong solicitor details to the mortgage company who have then sent the mortgage offer to said wrong solicitor.

Said wrong solicitors because they're dragging their heels to send us a letter saying we havent instructed them regarding the purchase of a house which the mortgage company now need.

The entire house buying process can go take a flying......

Unfortunately with modern bonded screens any flexing of the bodyshell will make cracks propagate. Looks like you'll need to bite the bullet.

Yup, a lot of people seem to be doing everything behind the wheel except paying attention to their actual driving and what's going on around them. They're far too interested in their phones, coffee, sandwich, makeup or whatever but I really don't know what this woman's issue was as I didn't see anything obvious. Just not thinking I guess...

In all seriousness neither do I Julian but hubby will get his own way on that one I think but atm I'm not budging on the CCTV. The CCTV idea imo will just be another toy/gadget so show his mates and a total waste of money as my opinion is they want the cars then they can take the cars as they a just chunks of metal with wheels I have no emotional attachment to them what so ever.

I'd be wary of cctv given your run in with that neighbour, last thing you want is complaints to the authorities that is capturing footage of the street in front of your house from them even if it's isn't. Rather than spending money on that I'd go for a monitored intruder alarm, you might even get a discount if you ask for them to supply and install it to.

Re: Moans and Pet Hates part 8

I think I will go for a alarm TD like you say she could complain and at the moment we a squeaky clean something that annoys so much that much I know as I have been told that she would love to get us on anything and is just waiting for an opportunity imo and i won't give her one, if we were to go for the CCTV it would not over look the neighbour we have had a dispute with as it would monitor our driveway as where I live my house is basically a corner plot, the CCTV would monitor our garage & driveway with some of our front garden although it would over look part of the other neighbours driveway. Hubby already discussed with our nice neighbours that we were thinking of getting CCTV and they were delighted with the thought that their cars would be covered. We get on very well with them and have each others house keys at all times ICE and to let the dog out when needed, they have had our spare key basically since we moved here and I theirs. I was working when we gave the key and I have never asked for it back. I have known them for years long before I moved here as she used to be the nurse at my doctors practice. TBH I think that is what is putting me of CCTV as the other neighbour would just love a excuse to make our lives awkward but since she speaks to very few people in the estate I can only imagine that she would phone the police on something like invasion of privacy as that was her excuse when the judge asked her what her reasons were for not removing the trees she replied privacy and the judge said not at the expense of someones property and well you know the rest interdict etc

Thanks TD for once again the good advice.

Oh no den.

Mine is part moan, part happy.

My manager called me this morning, and my heart sank. I wondered if I would be asked to work today but no, she called the wrong number. Dopey woman lol, gives me ammunition to tease her next time I see her.

Ordered English Heritage 'Family (2 Adult)' membership with Tesco Clubcard vouchers, i followed the link in the email to fill out the form to signup and use the code they gave me but the bloody form doesnt have any option for Family (2 adults) on it so i can't do it, and wont risk it doing another option.

So my only option is to phone them up or use webchat on Monday morning! so frustrated.

My little moan of the week - BLOODY PATIENT TRANSPORT...... I am constantly surprised at how appalling this company can and are on a daily basis. Normally drop me off at dialysis two hours late and then make me wait up to SIX hours before they take me home.

I've got a can of raid "Yard Guard" might spray the area with that and see if it banishes / kills them. I want to put some shredded branches etc in the composter but don't want to be subject to a wasp attack.

Yep they remind me of a company called Caring for you as their name was something they never lived up too as they were late plenty of times or never turned up sadly.

Yes l hope so dilli but like others with more then one medical condition and all the medication one takes its a fine balancing act in that if l take painkillers too much that then impacts on other things as you probably know only too well yourself.

Glad to hear it den as being in pain is not nice at all, take care my friend and hope you have a better night tonight as your not a very good sleeper at the best of times so being in pain must make this matter worse for you.

My moan is hubby is still going on about CCTV honestly what is so hard to understand that I don't want it or feel we need it. My eldest son is not helping matters as he is on his Dad's here and thinks it's a great idea which is a shock as he is usually on my side no matter what even if I'm in the wrong he usually sides with me.

Waking up and realising that no, yesterday was not a dream and yes I really did make a complete fool out of myself. Not helped by someone laughing in my face.

Put it behind you Mark, throughout life we all make stupid mistakes and feel embarrassed by it, nobody is exempt including the laughing face. :)

Don't let it weigh on your mind Mark. I can assure you that I have made some lulu's over the years but the consequences are rarely as bad as you might think they're going to be. Just be honest and most people will forgive.

The garden shreader blades are dull and won't cut. The screws holding them to the carrier are siezed. I've managed to get the carrier nut undone and got the carrier off. I've soaked the blade screws in penetrating oil. I can always drill them out and re-tap the holes if they won't undo. The shreader is a discontinued model and the spares are ridiculous prices: £7 for a blade, £25 for the carrier, even £1.70 for a single blade screw.

Looks like I'll be sharpening up the existing blades on an oil-stone.

Just come home from hospital feeling stronger than I have for many weeks. Good news I hear you say but the gusting wind that felt so refreshing when I left the hospital had a sting in its tail. My wisteria has been ripped from its wall support breaking most of the old stems as it bent under the weight of the upper branches and now my beautiful old friend lies forlornly across my patio. All those years training it to go around the conservatory. :mis:

i'm now sat watching John clearing away the sad remains.

Sorry to hear about the damage to your wisteria Jo. We've had those tearing winds this afternoon and they've shredded the fronds on my Japanese banana palm. It just about gets a whole frond out and then the winds come again.:(
