A £3,000 kitchen from Ikea.. Also, while I was planning that, the TV in our living room blew up, so I bought the http://www.lg.com/uk/tvs/lg-43UH610V to replace it. Nice 4K TV (although the only 4K content I have access to is on Youtube, Netflix and Amazon Video), but I'd rather have waited until my finances recovered.

I still haven't finished with the kitchen. I've got to buy a dishwasher, not to mention pay someone to install all the cabinets (including electrical and gas work, neither of which I am qualified to do).

So after an hour of reading reviews online, I've decided it's not worth buying a replacement paper shredder.

A garden incinerator at £17 works out a lot cheaper even if it only lasts one year!

Why my sister does is shred the paper (small cut) then put in with water and makes paper bricks via a mould which when dried go on the open fire.

My sister and I have decided to get my Mum a stair lift as the council will not be able to fit one till a assessment is done which would more than likely be next year now and goodness knows when a stair lift would be fitted after that. This way she will have her Brooks stair lift next week and at the end of the day it's my Mum and Dad's, although I did phone to see if anyone rented these and I was shocked when I phoned Stannah Stairlifts to inquire about renting one, they wanted £1095 upfront :Yikes: and £77.00 monthly to rent it. So I phoned around and got The Brooks Lincoln Straight Stairlift with added extras that my Dad wanted for £1700. I personally think £850 each is well worth the peace of mind this will offer not to mention the help and confidence it should give our Mother when going up the stairs.

Thanks heero it should be of help to my Mum. I was over this morning for her assessment for the alert system through the council, the good news is this should be fitted by the end of the week and this will give me great peace of mind as I am the main contact and key holder.

I treated myself to this and what's even better is the three easy payments and free steam mop :) I just hope it's as good as they say as I don't know anyone who has a Shark Vacuum Cleaner.

That is excellent news to hear that the alert system will be fitted by the end of the week weenie for your Mum.

Our friend mentioned the Shark Vacuum Cleaner to us the other day as his wife is giving him hints that this would be a lovely Christmas present for her.

We all like to pick our fresh veg and fruit for starters as we can get the best date then and see what it looks like and we also like to pick meats and other things we can see with our own eyes too Mr K.

A lot can be achieved in planters and tubs you know. Even a decent window sill can yield plenty of nice stuff like herbs, chillies, cherry tomatoes etc. With your exotic tastes chillies would be right up your street I'd have thought Den. :)

A new 4W LED filament bulb for the landing stairwell light. I was rather disappointed that this had failed as it was also LED filament and I'd fitted it as the lamp is a bear to get at but being a glass and brass star affair needs a sparkly bulb. I used to use a clear 40W golf ball incandescent.

I took the old bulb apart just to see what had failed and it seems to be the drive chip. The filaments still work fine. I guess the technology is still to fully mature.

The kids are happy. I'm pairing the phones with giffgaff £20/month unlimited everything. They've been told that the phones have to last them 3 years which will bring the cost down to £24ish/month. The only snag is if a phone breaks. Must look into insurance.

Yup! :p: What fascinated me was that I could track my phone from the moment I had my order authorised. Being informed when it moved from one location and arrived in the next. Transferred from airport to airport through China, Japan, France to finally reach the UK.

At which point it has been handed over to DHL and I have no idea what so ever what they are doing with it or when it will be delivered to me.

So roll on technology reaching the delivery systems in the UK. :D

Yes, it would be nice to actually know where the delivery van is so you can plan on being in at the right time. They must have this information as each item is delivered and checked off.

I bought a second hand piece of equipment form a dealer in California and it was fascinationg to watch it trickling from state to state and different carriers in the US before finally on a UPS jet to Gatwick. Then saw it put on the van but it took most of the day to actually get to me.

Still a bit of kit that originally cost over £1,000 for under £50 including shipping second hand was a bargain. Just needed a light service of the switches and it worked perfect.

New tumble dryer as the old one we got for £20 some 13 years ago is starting to make some nasty noises. Gone for a Bosch vented model as we already have a hole in the wall and don't want to pay silly money for a heat pump version that costs twice as much or even more. Reviews are mixed and very polarised - excellent or terrible. One review changed from bad to good when they found it was installed incorrectly and there was a plastic device blocking the vent.

Shame really but the old one is OK some times then starts making a very loud noise and we don't have an utility room to mask it in else we would keep it.

Three books courtesy of Waterstones.

The irony is that I hadn't intended to buy any books - all I intended to do was kill half an hour or so while waiting for part of my prescription to arrive at the chemist.

After all these years I still haven't learned that I shouldn't go in there unless I do intend to buy a book. To me it's like trying to fight a black hole's gravity...when you're already past the event horizon.

On the other hand, they were all discounted and they should be good reads: Catalyst, Rogue One and the latest Honorverse novel from David Weber, which I didn't know had been published and therefore came as a nice surprise.

We have a simple hand one by Betterwear. Making your own burgers is great because you know what goes into them especially the quality of the meat if you can mince your own or get your friendly butcher to do it for you.:)

Three sets (1 colour, 1 black) of ink cartridges for my Epson 680 for £7.90 including delivery. Probably Chinese but at that price worth a punt. The black one I usually refill keeps losing its ink, not quite sure where it's going :erm: but a new one should seal better.

No alcohol consumption sensor then?? ;)

I've just bought the missus a new Android tablet for her birthday. Hopefully it'll live up to expectations... :)
