That's exactly what I was thinking. Surely the ones charging more should be doing the explaining, otherwise this shows that Premier Sports are basically asking for cartel pricing?

Maybe when contracts are signed there`s an agreementb saying there`s a minimum charge?

That would be illegal (retail price maintenance). Presumably Virgin can get away with covering its costs as it sells other services to customers whilst Premier Sports has to make money on each sale so can't as it's a one-product company.

It totally agree, it sounds like an inverse version of Watchdog! I did think it a strange comment for Premier Sports to make for it must be in its interests for Virgin to charge less as it increases subscription numbers and presumably Premier Sports still get the same amount per subscriber.

£7.99pm Virgin Media
£9.99pm Premier Player on www.premiersports.tv
£11.99pm Sky platform sold by Premier Sports

What does Premier Sports say about VM being cheapest?
On Premier Sports' Facebook page 6 August:
Tina Lamb: Please can you tell me why Virgin subscribers only pay £7.99 a month and yet Sky subscribers pay £9.99 a month?? Surely we are both getting the same package.
Premier Sports: That is a good question and we recently asked the CEO of Virgin channels to explain this. Still to hear! But we will keep you posted.

Didn't Premier Sports initially want to launch on VM as part of the XL TV pack? Obviously they would have stood to make much more revenue from a wholesale deal than as a standalone but VM weren't interested. I think it's safe to say that it's quite a niche channel and would imagine subscriber numbers are relatively low across all platforms so VM probably charge a lower price to try encourage subscriber take up.

Plus didn't it only arrive on VM just in time for the Rugby World Cup last year due to the outcry from Rugby fans?

Cheers MB. So potentially it might never have arrived on VM had it not been for them obtaing the RWC rights. Be funny to see the discussion between their CEO and VM's if that Facebook article is true, maybe something like:

PS CEO: Will you charge more for PS on VM?
VM CEO: No
PS CEO: Please
VM CEO: No
PS CEO: Ok

;)

Haha premier sports are basically saying on the internet they want to charge MORE for their channels???

Surely they should be saying "We're going to get in touch with sky and find out why theyre charging so much more as we want to help our loyal customers..." rather than we're writing to get virgin media charge more so you lot can suffer

Companies these days!

If it looks like this

Then its vm's replacement for the numbers which appeared in the top right

The funny thing is that the price on the Sky platform is set by Premier Sports itself as Premier sells the channel directly, Sky just sells Premier Sports encryption and the EPG.
