Why? He was asked a direct question "Are you surprised Chelsea are selling Juan Mata to a rival?" and he answered it. He has said nothing that no one else has already said and he was surprised because Chelsea had previously said they would not sell to a direct rival.
Obviously though some people have a problem whenever a manager or football gives any opinion at all. No wonder press conferences and post-match interviews are such boring affairs.

What is the players can't be found or don't fit into the squad? What if you buy a world class striker and he doesn't adapt to the Premier League? Transfers can lose you a title as well as win you one. It's especially risky when you need them to hit the ground running and more difficult when you consider that we're mid-season. Arsenal fans want Costa but he is at a team that are fighting at the top of the league, in the Champions League and for whom he is on form and looking for a World Cup spot.
Methinks Wenger has a pretty good understanding of football. |
