Everyone got the update at the same time. :)

The fact you have a red and green light when in standby, shows you are on the latest software release too, so you already have 3 active tuners ;)

Re: TiVo

Not sure if I have seen anybody post something like this before, but interested how Tivo handles this situation.

If Tivo is recording 3 programmes at the same time while you are watching a recording, if you come to the end of that recording and want to go back to live TV, Tivo needs to cancel one of the recordings for which you are prompted I believe.

However, does Tivo then search for a repeat of the recording it has to cancel in order to reschedule that recording, or do you just get the original recording but cut short if you decide to go back to live TV?

The reason I ask this is that I can see this happening for me as the extra flexibility you now have in permitting 3 recordings at the same time now creates this issue, while V+ couldn’t do this, so never an issue of needing to free up a tuner to go back to live TV.

I tend to set up a good deal of series recordings so will be letting Tivo decide on the specific programme timing. It is common for us to be watching a different channel in live TV to recordings especially at 9pm when more adult content programmes start but the children may have not gone to bed yet (often happens for us!).

This could mean Tivo selects 3 recordings all starting at 9pm say by default rather than 2 at 9pm and say a 3rd on a +1 channel at 10pm. So if you are watching live TV and 9pm comes up, I assume Tivo gives you a message to decide if you want to cancel a recording, but being a series recording I would rather want Tivo to tell me it has rescheduled one of the current recordings (to a +1 channel time say), rather than just cancel an individual episode of a series recording which you would clearly want to watch.

It’s almost as if you want to reserve a tuner for live TV and only use 3 if you know you are not going to watch anything. Extra flexibility of 3 tuners including the one that would be used for live TV is welcomed and very nice, it’s just working out the consequences here that I’m thinking of.

I don’t have Tivo yet and patiently waiting the call/email now. So if anybody who has Tivo can explain or do a test recording of 3 programmes at the same time to see how it behaves when you want to watch live TV it would be appreciated.

You will still get the part recorded programme, but TiVo will then class it as a clash and look for a repeat.

It happened to me when my partner cancelled a recording by accident

Ditto. Registered on first day, then also applied for the "Free Tivo" competition. Received confirmation emails in December and February respectively.

Have not received any further news (or the "Sorry, you haven't won a free Tivo" email). Not sure whether my details got lost in the system or what. Still don't know if they are still phoning people regarding free Tivo boxes?

Excellent, so it does set up another recording of the programme you stop to watch live TV if one is available of couse (and it has 3 to choose from). The partial recording is fine, either watch that and see the end on the repeat recording later, or delete and wait for the complete programme!

I registered first day and in the competition as well. Have only receive the email saying VM will be in touch in late March but have not received any email saying I haven’t won 1 of the 1000 free Tivos.

Patiently waiting that email then which sounds like I will have a web link to order through now.

Yes, you will get an email inviting you to order online and choose an install date.

Emails should start being sent at the end of this month.

Am I right in thinking that if you have 3 recordings set to start at, say 9pm, and you're watching a different channel to the 3 selected to record, the default tivo action will be to switch the live TV channel to one of the channels needed to be recorded?
