I just went via the "Want to make a change to your package" route and spoke to a scottish sounding guy, could be wrong but definitely didn't sound offshore.:

I've just been through to a very nice british lady who has upgraded me to 152Mbps, I recently agreed a new contract last week so they put mine through with no change what so ever.

Happy days, 152Mbps and no download limit. Finally Virgin, like being back on the original 50Mbps and 100Mbps when we weren't affected by STM :)

I'm pretty sure it said - July - August 2014.

Just checked and it is in fact June - August 2014. Amazing how I could be upgraded 3 months early :-)

I went on the VM website and entered a neighbours details to see if they could get 152Mbps, as soon as it said they could I thought I would try my chances.

Tested it via wired cat 6 and achieving full speed!

excellent. I am going to get a coffee and wake up and then I'll give them a call and report back. I don't need the speed increase and probably won't notice it but I want it for the sake of having it :) The increased upload will be nice.

Good luck let us know how it goes, the guy I spoke to did ask if I already had "the latest virgin hub" so they might try and send you one out :(

Upload is still 12Mbps, same as before I'm afraid :(

Finally managed to get my speed upgrade :)

How ever downstream speeds are now suddenly slow for some reason (80Mbit) getting 12.2Mbit upload, Have been told to wait an hour or so for it to get up to speed, we'll see :)

Anyone else had this?

i was half expecting that. I am hoping they'll push the config down and send a shub2 out and I just won't activate it (if I can get full speed on my vmng300). Otherwise I have no probs banging it in modem mode.

As long as they don't try and charge you for the SH2 :p: but to be honest after we had our first duff SH2 swapped out this one has been fine, no lock ups or anything.

Most I saw last night while testing was 163Mbps on my usenet client, highest I got on speedtest was around 158

Re: Virgin Media 150Mb Coming 2014

We can all see what VM are doing. They are having to play the big willy game with BT whilst at the same lamely trying to throttle back demand because area capacity upgrades aren't yet complete.

I'm not privy to the detail on those upgrades (I'm referring here to downstream). Any DOCSIS 3 bonded channel segment can be configured for 152 meg; it's just a question then of congestion. So my guess is that the upgrades required in most cases are in the form of a simple resegmentation involving more line cards and possibly CMTs.

So all yous getting early upgrades to 152/12 may expect growing congestion until your area has been resegmented.

Seph, any way to spot from shub stats if this is the case? I live in a heavily student populated area but never experienced any kind of congestion, a tech we had one once told me Newcastle is the biggest / busiest part of their network, not sure if it's true but hopefully it's already been sorted so this doesn't cause us any issues.
