Re: New Speed Upgrades 8th March. (Part 4)

I live in the Stockport area and called up to upgrade my 300k connection to 1MB. They said I would need a new STB to be able to do this - is this right as I can't see any reference to a new box for that speed anywhere?

BTW auto upgrade not yet on the Oldham UBR come on IGN & BBK let us get upgraded
You're on Rochdale UBR, aren't you, if memory isn't playing tricks?

Anyway, AFAIK I'm not doing anything with this round of upgrades, because they're being done in the billing/provisioning system rather than just be amending the CM files. Ask Debsy nicely - plenty of STB folk are on the new tiers, according to my monitoring.

Incorrect info being given I'm afraid from previous info posted on here by 'associates' the Pace boxes can handle 1M easily, let them send you a new "sammy" anyway supposed to be a lot better on the TV side (tho I had no trouble with our old pace2000)

Re: New Speed Upgrades 8th March. (Part 4)

They'll do 1.5Mb fine as well, the problem isn't that they won't take the speed, it's that they won't do it reliably = unhappy customers = fault calls. Many people would have no problem even at 3Mb, BTW.

Anyway, *officially* 1MB is the max limit, which is why 750k Pace STB users get 1Mb pending a box swap. The new 1Mb/100k tier is likewise no problem.

Re: New Speed Upgrades 8th March. (Part 4)

I live in the teesside area and was told on the phone to wait for a letter. I tried the manual upgrade but got this message:
Error looking up cable modem details for <ADMIN EDIT - not a good idea to post your mac addy> (no SMS details).

Any ideas? Anyone able to manually upgrade me?

Thanks,
Paul

you have 2 options

1) wait for the automatic upgrades
2) contact customer services again and see if they are willing

or

maybe there is someone on here who can do something, but i really would edit that mac address out ;)

Re: New Speed Upgrades 8th March. (Part 4)

I was hoping after the disaster of NTL disconnecting my service for almost 48 hours in SO22 region that I would now be on 1MB via my Pace STB, but alas bandwidth testing show I still got 750K.

Having said that, I can live with 750K, just as long as they keep the damned line up. Service is probably more important to most people than pure speed.

CS are swamped and I got fed up waiting on hold, so will have to try again later :(

probably that your internet billing account (SMS) is not linked to your cable modem account (SABS) correctly

to check for definate you would need to check with customer services

I'm afraid I don't - but I'm sure someone else will come along shortly who does, we have a few people who work for ntl who help out here in their spare time. If they can help I'm sure they will :)

Welcome to the site :) :welcome:

What kind of box do you have - stand alone cable modem. Or set top (TV) box?

I'm sure some nice person will be along to help you shortly.
