If it is the gall bladder avoid fatty foods, my mum's had hers removed and get discomfort if the eats fatty food, but then you have to have fish & chips form a chippy every now and then.

What she does before though is have a Gaviston sachet which does help.

To top it off my sister might have a gallstone, which doesn't help the week you start a new job.

I've not had any problems with fatty foods and haven't noticed any change in my digestive system at all since my operation.

Good tip on the Gaviston Hom3r I will keep that in mind if I need a operation.
Sending your sister my best wishes and lets hope it's not gallstones I know I am.

If I need a operation Osem I hope I'm like as I'm bad enough with the illness that I have where tummy problems/certain foods are concerned.

l was told once l had my gall bladder operation to just stick to a balanced diet and that's what l try to stick to but occasionally l have the odd fried meal but the key is not to have it all the time in my book.

The thing is that it's possible that gall bladder problems (if you indeed have them) have been the cause of (or contributed to) some of your existing digestion problems. If this is the source of your pain, taking it out might actually alleviate some of the other symptoms I'd have thought. I my case I had gall stones (actually a sludge rather than stones) but my gall bladder had become badly infected and that's something else which is far more serious.

Anyway these will be questions you'll want to ask the quacks in time. Just don't hang around for ages waiting if you're really suffering in pain. If I hadn't taken myself off to A&E when I did I'd likely have wound up with pancreatitis. Only you know how bad you feel. :tu:

I always advise against having fry ups in books, you can't easily read them afterwards.. ;)

My mother's been in hospital for the past three weeks after being found collapsed in her house. We thought she was improving and would be able to come out soon but today she was found out of it sitting in a chair. A stroke was suspected but after tests it seems not.

The prognosis is not good as her heart is also weak. :( My older sister is keeping us posted.

Because she's been suffering from dementure which seems to have got worse quickly I've been prepared for the inevitable final result but had hoped to have her for a little longer.

Commiserations there mate, it sounds awful. Mind you we were told my old man probably wouldn't make last Christmas and he's still with us. All we can hope is that whatever time they have left, their quality of life is bearable.

My moan is that i rely on being able to use the live traffic cameras on the bbc travel site to check my journey to work, but everytime there is a delay of some kind they switch the bloody things off so i cant evaluate just how bad it is to decide whether to find an alternative route.

Sorry to hear that Heero. Out of these very trying situations, dementia especially, maybe you can only take what comfort you can from the knowledge that she hopefully won't suffer for very long. A slow lingering death isn't nice for anyone and I know which way I'd rather depart. Best wishes mate. :tu:

Thanks my valued CF friends for your thoughts and prayers. I really helps and I've sent them on to the rest of the family (my two sisters) I visited the hospital today with them but I can't just sit there and watch her slip away even though she looks so serene so I've come back to the house and I'm throwing myself into some domestic tasks after a beer at the local and use of their WiFi. At least the OH is only a call away.

Hi heero, my heart goes out to you. I went through the same with my Father. I guess we all know that one day we will have to say goodbye to our parents but that doesn't make it any easier. I would go into hospital each day and watch him fade away. I poured my heart out to him in the hopes that somewhere deep down inside of him he knew I was there.

We all have to manage in our own way and it sounds as though you are continuing to be the caring son that we, your forum friends, have come to know. Stay strong sweetie.

Jo.

So my fistula has definitely not worked which will need replacing and then they told me there is a problem with my chest catheter (which is what I use for dialysis at the moment) so it looks like more hospital time to come.

Oh and I have to get up at 2:30am tomorrow to do a blood sugar for the course I'm doing.

I hope if I do have gallbladder problems I don't need to wait that long finger's crossed.

I'm now in panic mode!

I'm just trying to get the last minute stuff organized for the wee one's school trip. I'm in total panic mode now so checking the to do list and done list over once again and hoping that I have not forgot anything. Hubby and I will have to go over the his first aid/medicine as each child is responsible for their own pain relief, anti-histamine, insect repellent, sun lotion, after sun etc I'm not to worried about that tbh as he is quite a sensible boy for his age.

weenie: As you may recall I had a surgical procedure that required special blood medication that stopped my blood from clotting (not warfarin) this I had to take for 12months. Then I had to wait till this medication left my system, another 2months.
So in reality 10months on the waiting list.

Sincere commiserations matey - thankfully she didn't suffer too long and you'll be able to concentrate more on all your happy memories without the pain of an awful lingering death.

I have a feeling my old man is nearing crunch time now. He was given months to live back in October and has been gradually getting weaker, although not suffering any pain. Last night he told us he's been peeing blood for a few days so it's off to hospital this morning for tests. I'm hoping it's just a urinary tract infection but part of me is thinking the cancer has spread and he might not be coming home. Worrying times...

It's never easy when a parent gets older it is very much role reversal for us "children" I worry about my Mum all the time as she is so secretive just last week when I was cleaning her house I found a load of medication hidden under her bed and here was all of us thinking she was taking her meds. The trouble with my Mum is she is hard work I mean that in a nice way although it is very frustrating at times, whereas my Dad not a problem but then again he faces stuff head on instead of head in the sand.

Let's hope it's not the latter Osem fingers crossed it's a urinary tract infection. Hugs to you and your family take care.

Re: Moans and Pet Hates part 8

Well the old man's being kept in for a couple of days at least. They don't think it's an infection but it could be anyone of a number of things not necessarily with his cancer. He's got a catheter and is being well and truly flushed through, plus having a blood transfusion as he's anaemic. The doctors have asked whether, given his ongoing situation, he wants them to bother doing lots of quite unpleasant tests or just treat/ameliorate his symptoms and see how it goes. I feel he'll opt for the latter option.

I have been compiling a reasons why I left list (this is my list I would give if I won enough money to walk) it has 11 reasons.

Sorry, precedence of operators, multiply comes first, then addition, result is one.

Only if operators are of equal precedence is associativity left to right. ;)

So because I want an end to immigration, want Brits to be put first and I have voted leave, I am now branded a racist fascist thug on another Forum.

Hmm. Time to think about whether I stay a member much longer there then tbh.

The best thing you can do Mark is just ignore them as people who throw out vile and nasty insults are really the lowest of the low and should be totally ignored in my opinion.

Sadly, there are lots of nasty folks around who, because they have no argument, resort to bullying and intimidation. When they resort to that you know you've won the argument.

1+(1x0) = 1.

When I'm programming sometimes I need to look it up in K&R THE bible as there are a whole family of operators apart from +/-/x and divide.

For clarity parenthesis will force the operation.

We were called to the hospital last night as the staff had increasing concerns for the old man. Low blood pressure, lung infection, serious bladder issues and that's on top of the cancer in his major organs. He looked so tired and weak that I was pretty sure he'd pass away in the night but he's still hanging on today and it isn't a pretty sight. He's always been a fit, strong, active man (hardly ever been ill until last year) and now he's reduced to a bag of bones. It'd be far more humane if he had a simple button he could press when he felt it had all become too much. As it is, the suffering's continued and I'm just hoping he'll pass away restfully in his sleep without enduring too much more of this. It serves no purpose. :(

Being dismissed. I told my relative a week and half ago she had a chest infection, but refused to listen. Now on her second weeks course of steroids to kick it, and been told that she has to use her other inhaler which I'd said all last week.

Why I bother is beyond me, sometimes I wonder would anyone miss me if I just quietly ate a cyanide pill.

Yes guys, it is hard to watch but so much worse for him because he's fully aware of what's going on so doesn't even have the luxury of being 'out of it'. Mum's been over to see him for what'll probably be their final goodbye given her situation and I'll be off to see him later - just hope the end to his suffering will come soon.

The other week I hit a water covered pothole that was so deep you could have gone scuba diving in.

Well since then I've been hearing a weird noise form the front left.

Booked into the garage but no luck until the 1st of July.

I looked and discovered the spring has jumped out of the bottom mount and obviously rubbing, so I have to borrow my dads car.

After suffering sinus infections constantly for over a year, I got referred to an ENT specialist a couple of months ago and after many antibiotics and sprays/tablets that did very little I got some tests and a CT scan.

I got told last week that I will need surgery ASAP as I have nasal polyps and a papilloma that all need to be removed ASAP. The tumour has a 90% chance of being benign I am told.

Still doesn't stop me thinking about that 10%. They are also going to open up my sinus to try and stop it getting infected as easily.

I will be glad when its done as I have had a blocked nose for over 6 months and a constantly running nose due to the papillloma.

MRI coming up on the 7th so they can see it all in more detail before the surgery.

Feeling rather down today as I had it in my head that the wee one would be home on Monday don't know why I thought this date but I did it was only last night when I was looking at his return flight details that I realised I would not be seeing my youngest till Tuesday and I just burst out crying. Oh weenie, you are a great mum. I know how hard it can be when a child is away from home. I also know that tomorrow will seem like a month of Sundays .. as my Dad used to say.... but once you have him safely back home on Tuesday the extra wait will just disappear like a puff of smoke.

Think, just two more sleeps and he will be home, full of all he has experienced, showing you all those pictures, talking a mile a minute and ....... totally knackered.

I remember Peter coming home after a whistle stop 9 day tour of Europe, he was 10 and those 9 days seemed like a life time to me. We picked him up from school at lunch time, by the time we were home he was fast asleep in the back of the car, snoring like traction engine. We carried him upstairs, undressed him, put him to bed and he didn't surface till mid morning the next day. :D

Well my father finally passed away this afternoon. It wasn't nice watching him slowly fading away over the last week in particular but at least he wasn't in too much pain or discomfort at the end and we're only too well aware that many people aren't quite so lucky. Anyway he made it to 92 and in his own words it was a good innings...
