Re: Football Season 2014/15

I am still here. I think that Spurs have to heavily invest in new players, and get rid of crap players - plus Baldini, who l believe will be going soon.

I don't think Levy will be happy that we don't have European football next season. That means we have to go two years without big football at WHL.

It doesn't surprise me though. Hopefully, we might get in by the Fair Play League

I think that Pocj has to sit down and decide what we need to do, either invest in academy players or buy something big.

I think the good news this season will be that Kane will get a hat trick - PFA BOTH awards - plus l believe he will be Footballer of the Year, with Hazard in second place.

I think that Kane has had a brilliant season, and will hit the target set by Clive Allen

Re: Football Season 2014/15

That's two results in a row ground out now - they're going to be deserving champions in fairness.

Normal service resumed at Selhurst. You won't believe the number of people who were talking about how we were the better side and had more possession - as though last season hadn't happened and we shouldn't know better than anyone that these things don't actually matter! We were out-Pulised. The thing about Pardew is that we'll beat Man City but won't be able to find a way past the likes of West Brom. Under Pulis it would have been the other way around coupled with the remote possibility that we'd edge out a top side for a draw. 30% possession, defend the point you have and maybe nick a goal on the break might be bloody awful to watch (trust me, last season was torture, and this season has been much more enjoyable) but it does work, whilst our current course can only really work in the short to medium term. At some point the bubble will burst and we'll have to go back to basics. After all, our four wins in a row until yesterday included (luckily) beating Stoke away aswell as the champions. 6 points that you simply cannot have been counting on - arguably 1 might have been considered an acceptable return. Take five points from our current total and we'd only just be above West Brom who we lost to yesterday - if we'd spent a season doing that and those results had gone against rather than for us we'd be in serious trouble, something which should be unacceptable given the high quality of the squad. And the reality is that West Brom and their like are our immediate rivals and it is they who we need to be taking points from consistently. If we have a poor start to next season I genuinely don't know if we will have the organisation required to make a fight of it in the latter stages.

Name me the last Liverpool manager who did not fail to win some sort of trophy in their first 3 years?.

Sorry but when the crunch matches have come along he has failed in every single one of them and the reason is because he is tactically clueless and fails to handle the pressure of the big games wherever managers like JM and LVG are rarely found wanting in those big pressure games.

Some sort of trophy, what big club cares about league cups and community shields. I'll tell you a manager who didn't win a trophy for his first four years at man utd and look how that turned out.

Actually howard wilkinson was doing something similar with Leeds at around same time albeit with a promotion thrown in for good measure. Modern game pffft what is that, a game where spoilt billionaires throw toys out of prams and sack people after not winning the league cup for a season, that's not how dynasties are built. Real fans should know better.

denphone 19-04-2015 18:02

Re: Football Season 2014/15

Of course that how dynasties are not built TD but we are in the reality of the modern game where supporters pay of awful lot of money to follow their teams and see players getting extremely well paid and thus if success does not arrive they expect the managers head on a platter at the end of the day if results don't go their way as we saw with DM last season.

And Lovren, and Markovic ...

He's essentially wasted the Suarez money, which is criminal.

I'm inclined to agree with Denphone, Rodgers has not done a good job at Liverpool and finishing in the top two off the back of a world class player and a very good striker while the rest of the team shipped goals for fun shouldn't be allowed to mask that fact. They do need to get rid.

They are a horrible football club though, so in the meantime we can all stand back and laugh.

Some times Karma happens....did anyone see the appalling tackle my Bayern Munich defender Badstuber on Tuesday night, it was a two footed, off the ground, studs up, Kung Fu dive into his opponent. If that had been in the Premiership Martin Atkinson would have given him a straight red but as the game was in Munich he bottled it for me and gave a yellow. I have just read that Badstuber will now be out of action for 3 to 4 months due to injury.

Its another bore draw between Chelsea and Arsenal. Typically. And there have only been ONE penalty in the game, l believe it Cahill handled in the box. I have seen penalties given for the that.

The other one people are talking about, the keeper's box his is domain, the keeper comes out, he cannot stop himself, there hits the player.

I think Oliver done a brilliant job, the players from both sides were guilty of 'diving' and therefore Oliver was aware of that.

If you go down in the box, both hands should be by your side, not upwards - Yes, to a penalty

I know what I am trying to say but can't word it right. What I mean is, I get wanting both to lose. But that means in order for a loss to happen, one of them has to win. Which is why a draw is a better scenario for me than one team getting all 3. But that only applies when facing each other, so for instance every Chelski v Arsenal game I want a draw for a result. It goes without saying that for the other 36 league games I cheer on the opponent. Think I explained what I meant this time.

No need for explanations Mark I got what you meant, I envisage something slightly different, like a tsunami enveloping the pitch or a sudden earth shift/quake swallowing the pitch up, job done, both loose and it'd prove what we all already suspect that even mother nature hates Chelsea

Well done Bournemouth.

We are almost champs, though playing defensively (boring).

Maybe they are a junior team of Chelsea, who would rather sit back in defence and do sod all attacking.

Well we beat Leicester 3-1, it did not seem as boring to watch as previous 4 matches.

I like the way Leicester play I hope they stay up.

My moan today is Premiership clubs which are getting increasingly greedy with Hull charging Liverpool fans £50 for a away ticket and now West Ham are charging Everton supporters £55 for away tickets although Everton are subsidising the cost of tickets by £10 which should be applauded.

I agree Den, football will price itself out at the rate they are going there will be no fans to watch it in the stadiums. I was watching on TV a few 1st and 2nd Division games and the grounds looked rather empty.

Remember when the Newcastle fans were happy Pardew left lol :)

They're lucky the season is nearly over otherwise they would be going down.

See the Blackpool game had to be abandoned after fans staged a protest in the centre circle after 48 minutes. Game was at 0-0, to be replayed apparently. To prevent a further protest, I'd make it behind closed doors myself.

We are lucky to be drawing, you should be ahead.
