even if BT sports does appear tomorrow i really think we shouldnt be in this position. a company making deals to not announce anything until launch date...even if that happens is that really customer friendly? is that really the way to do things?

if it doesnt appear i'm fuming. VM have hinted at it for months "dont worry good things are coming ;) " when you talk to customer service.

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2013) Vol. 3.

I would not be shock if sky and bt done deal to shaft virgin by telling bt make unrealistic demands that virgin never go for.

At end of day virgin now suffering not having its own channels as leverage with sky power influinence there able to block negotiate with companies exclusivity deals.

XL package now getting very thin without replacements. You wonder if you going mental keep it going either drop down or just take plunge for vip.

virgin backed into corner here goto shape up to fight. If this american says he got bottle take on sky then prove it.

Do deal for bt sport then do discount for XL owners vip on scale depending you pay.

Say 50% discount towards paywall bt sport vip
30% for xl package infact scaling prices should be for any charge content from online movie rental to sky sports for say 5 years loyal customers.

To many times you see companies ignore loyalty

Let war begin virgin cant take customers granted anymore they become sloppy to think they wont walk. Virgin cant afford to let customers leave.

Got this through the post today, think someone at Virgin is having a joke...

My favourite part is the opening line of the inserted letter:

"we don't want you to miss a minute of the action so we've pulled together everything you need to know about the best upcoming sports events all in one place."

Either testing just in case a deal goes through last minute or maybe Sky Atlantic SD & HD, and SPN HD and SN HD?

loving ginx pops out in sound and picture freeze at times likely teething issue.

Still would like to see bt sport replace espn not for prem cant stand the plastics cash machines but for other leagues. German league way better than rubbish premier.

Wanted to watch conference with noway getting tv other freeview stuck with virgin.

Just wished they took blinkers off I understand they torn 2 factions those who dont want increase due to not interested in sport those who do.

So change the way they set up tv packages bundles might be solution.

At end of day virgin got to sort the tv arm of its business strategy they focussed way too much on broadband.

I have my suspision why liberty bought virgin was only pile it with its debt to hell with virgin. Inactivity to improve virgin is making me worried.

BT confirms no agreement to put BT Sport on Virgin Media
Wednesday 31 July 2013 16:02:02 by Andrew Ferguson

After some speculation on Monday that Virgin Media may have been about to add BT Sport to its cable TV packages, BT has issued a statement that confirms that no wholesale agreement has been reached yet.
"Following the large number of enquiries from Virgin Media customers and press speculation, we can confirm that we have not agreed a wholesale deal for BT Sport with Virgin Media. But we are open to doing it at the right price and talks continue. In the meantime, we have an excellent offer for Virgin customers who move to either BT TV or to satellite."
BT statement on possibility of wholesale access to BT Sport by Virgin Media
Today is the last day Virgin Media cable customers will have access to ESPN if it was in their package line-up, the question now is whether the right price for BT can be shuffled around to be the right price for Virgin Media.
BT will of course not be worrying too much if when it looks at the numbers of new customers on its Infinity service a good number of them are arriving from Virgin Media. For those BT customers looking to commit to a new 12 month contract or have 12 months or more left to run on their contract and want access to BT Sports on their Sky satellite TV service or BT TV box, today is the last day that you can order BT Sport and get the HD upgrade for free. It is also the last day for the current batch of £40 and £60 Sainsbury vouchers for new signups to BT Broadband and Infinity.

Is this a offical statement from both BT & Virgimedia press offices or just BT , and does andrew ferguson work for virgin or BT or is it a marketing ploy on BTS part

Are we on this again? Come on. not this again.

there is no "substitute" for BT Sport. This isn't like getting rid of MTV, but replacing it with The Box. you cannot get the coverage BT Sport gives on any other channel and if you're a sport fan there is no substitute for missing your team playing. And if you're somebody who didn't watch ESPN then you don't need it replacing. So I have no idea why non-ESPN viewers are demanding some kind of replacement?

Looks like it's a ridiculous situation where i will have a TIVO box next to my Freesat SkyHD box. and paying two bloody people.

Still holding out hope though, even at this point. Until VIRGIN confirm no deal done there's a chance. On twitter, they are still saying they're in talks. Reckon the talks go on all evening tbh until Virgin cave. They're going to have to, because BT won't just give it up on the cheap and why should they.

Obviously there's nothing to say at the moment I sure we will find out something tomorrow Bt are trying to get as many to sign up with them before an announcement is made so officially we are not getting it until it is officially announced so calm down and be patient

I was told that at 10.50 when I got a call fom vm head office,he told me bt didn't want to deal then.why would they there taking vm's customers cost price will probably go up now.what annoys me they ain't got a big Channel to compensate for this,Bt and Sky must be loving this and my prediction earlier this year of vm slipping to numb 3 provider still remains on course.with the recent rise in talk talk take up they could end up 4th yet

A question - how many people were clamouring to pay extra for XL when ESPN was added to the package?

If BT said VM can't do a press release until 1st August then VM might as well carry on negotiations until the latest possible moment (5.30 today maybe) ... that is the only thing giving me any hope the moment and maybe why four channels are being tested at the mo.

Excuse the newbie daft question, but how could VM be testing channels which, to our knowledge, they currently have not settled negotiations on?

Would be the other way around, Shirley?

Not many but once you set a example of adding something to a package then customers will expect that all the time Hugh.

I do think that the BT line of saying there is no deal with VM so VM customers should come over to us for BT Spprts does sound like a bit of a desperate last gasp to me. I don't know why, but that's just the way it seems to sound to me.

It's not just the time they'll negotiate up until, it's the time BT customer services closes at tonight - the last opportunity to draw in all the VM panickers. Or for that matter, Sky's customer services if people decide to move, rather than wait a day.

If we can exercise some patience to get to within the final few hours, then we can survive them too.

Not if the "still negotiating" party line is just bollox and both BT and VM know fine well that those channels will be launching at 6pm tomorrow. They couldn't wait till the last minute and then try and connect them up for deployment.
