Arthur, you keep saying this over and over. The clear response to your question is that confidential negotiations are continuing with BT. VM have told you that. We all know it. VM have said they will tell us more when they have news. There is no news yet.

Wrong, I'm afraid. VM are holding out for the best deal for their customers and we will all reap the benefit of that when the channels arrive. If you would rather pay more for the whole year for the benefit of the first couple of weeks of broadcasting, you are probably (almost) on your own.

Freesat with Sky is a different service from Freesat, so I'm afraid you're wrong again.

I wouldn't keep repeating that, but you don't seem to be taking the message on board. As said in a previous post, we all make mistakes, even you. And the more you say you don't, the more we will point them out to you.

Now let's keep on subject and stop all this posturing and swagger.

Old Boy, I have made no "mistake" whatsoever son.

I said in my post that I will get BT Sport via Freesat. The kid responded with "you can't get it via freesat, just freesat via sky." as if to tell me that I will not be able to get it. To inform me i'm wrong. But here's the thing, I'm not wrong am i? because i only have freesat via sky. i don't have any other freesat setup.

i've not been wrong about anything. all i did was make the FATAL MISTAKE of calling sky freesat 'freesat'. instead of bloody freesat via sky.

Oxford Dictionary
Quote:

Pedant- noun
a person who is excessively concerned with minor details and rules
i've not been wrong about anything i'm afraid. as much as people are trying to say i am. it's wishful thinking.

if anybody is too stupid or unaware that in reference to freesat in context of bt sport i mean sky, and none other, then that is their problem. up your game and up your knowledge of said topic before debating. as the rappers say, don't hate the playa (me) hate the game.

but in context of talking about BT Sport i did not need to. i said i was going to get it via freesat, having previously mentioned i have a sky hd box with a viewing card. not my problem if people are not with it enough to understand i obviously meant freesat from sky. considering freesat from sky is the only advertised freesat service which gets BT Sport.

i am not "wrong" about anything thanks very much. because i never once said, as the poster implied, that i was expecting to get BT Sport from standard freesat. i have mentioned numerous times that i have a Sky HD box and viewing card. so there. i win.

Alas that might be the case Sirius but Virgin should not expect to sit on his laurels and think everythings rosey in the garden because it ain't by a long chalk and one would hope they have plans in the pipeline even if we don't get BT Sports because if they ain't got plan B or C then they could lose quite a few customers in the short , medium and long term.

Mods, if you know he is a "provocative posturing braggart" (nice description BTW - I still prefer troll though) why let him use the site? Everyone has the right to post on here, but I have never seen him bring a useful post to any discussion in any thread. I fail to see any purpose he serves, other than to wind people up.
Also has anyone seen, the well-off, unemployed, living with his parents, playboy living, lover of expensive clothes and nights out who lies to his most current good looking girlfriend, post during school hours?........:erm:;)

Why don't people just use the ignore button if his posts upset them so much? And I know his posts turn up if they are quoted, but they are easy to spot, so you just don't read them.

I fail to see why people are getting so upset about him. The attitudes that come over in his posts are so outrageous that the posts become amusing and fun to read. And to be fair, he does seem to know quite a bit about TV sport.

I'd miss his posts if he was banned :)

You need to go into your User CP. Under 'Settings and Options' there's an option to 'Edit Ignore List'. Click this, and fill in the username of the person you want to put on ignore.

Many people, including myself, do ignore him. Although it gets harder to do when people quote him. If you can find his posts amusing, and wish to engage him, I commend your patience, but please don't quote him.

All I ever saw him post was post info about football (I don't recall much info on rugby, cricket, tennis, darts, athletics, swimming, golf, rowing, badminton etc.) Plus all his "info" was/has been available from the internet, so I would doubt his actual knowledge is that good. Goodness knows, he is neither intelligent nor bright.

Please do keep feeding the troll if it makes you laugh, but as I stated earlier please do not quote him, and save me, at least, from his childish behaviour.

I also fail to see (mods) how he is much worse than Carl Waring or HD Boy who have both been banned in my time on here. At least Carl Waring offered advice on TIVO from time to time. I still fail to see what tiny tim from troll-land brings to these discussions.

oh, confirmed today by Virgin CS... you can get just SS1 and SS2 on Virgin for £21, the newsletter was true. but not in HD. so really it's not an option. pretty gutting. opted for the full sports collection in HD. shame as would have rather just had SS1 and SS2 and spent the £4 i would save on a huge kebab every month.

Carl Waring with his 'My way is the only true way to use Tivo' attitude used to irritate me quite a bit at times, but I was still disappointed when he was banned. The 'discussions' his posts often led to, used to liven the forums up a bit sometimes ;)

I've never put anyone on the ignore list or wanted anyone banned; just my way I guess.

Fair enough to you and Devilincarnate, I have never wanted anyone else banned in my time on here, but this guy does not bring anything to the forum. He just spouts antagonistic garbage for the sake of it. I simply do not see what he brings to the party, other than frustrations. Again, I commend your ability to ignore his dross.

Anyway, I will attempt to leave my prejudices here and not bother the mod's again over his rather pathetic behaviour.

I hope you continue to enjoy his posts:)

P.S. Carl's posts did liven it up abit, but at least he was somewhat sensible and somewhat relevant to the threads, unlike Young_timbo.

Cool, that is probably going to be cheaper, and healthier than the pub. Place a few 50p/£1 bets over the course of a game and save lots of money:) (I am not a gambler and have only frequented a bookies only twice in 33 years, so it's not for me)
Also interesting to see the comments about pubs and hotels etc. Lets hope BT Sport helps improve their businesses in these tough economic times. I, personally, would prefer to go to a quiet, local pub with genuine fans, a real atmosphere and appetite for the game with decent and/or local lager/cider/ale to watch some rugby or football rather than a loud, large national pub chain with the mainstream guff lagers/ciders and a very poor and indifferent atmosphere.
If that paragraph does not show I am getting old, nothing else ever will:(:D

He posted something about him being here for ever and that he would do nothing wrong and then posted all about his reputation given and taken

Dont know if that was the bit that had him banned however or if it was just the fact he was a complete and utter anker.

As for BT sports as i predicted for myself i had an excellent night watching the Giants eat the Pies in a thrilling match on Sky sports and with no need for me to need BT sports to watch it at all. :D

I honestly feel in the long run he will be good for utd because he is highly motivated but I think there will have to be a couple of hair dryer blasts first, but as a mad utd fan there are a few players there at the moment who need to step their game up, nani, Anderson, cleverly, wellbeck and I'm sure in a few weeks these players will know who the boss is and that they ain't kids anymore and they will have to get their fingers out.

 What a douche! I would have loved to have been a fly in the room to see his face when he found out he was banned. If he genuinely thought he was never wrong, he is probably still confused as to how he became banned:) Sorry mod's, that is now the last time I will mention it.
Back on topic, those who can watch BT Sports, I recommend you watch (nope, I recommend more that you get down "The Abbey" and watch it there, if you can) the mighty Cambridge United on Sunday, as they kick off another season of disappointment and dashed hopes and probably mid-table mediocrity:(:D
