Don't forget the 'wooly hat' incident with Rui Faria who all but admitted using it to hide his link back to Mourinho. I wouldn't trust any of Chelsea if my life depended on it.

You've ducked the main issue- and that's the double standards from Ferguson when it's been PROVED he's tapped up in the past [Stam]. When he's on the receiving end he doesn't like it, but it's OK when he does it. Clive Hunt of the highest order, right up there with Neil Warnock and his scheming tricks.

It is double standards to slag off chelsea for what he's allegedly done himself.

Just that Chelsea may have done it in a way which casts doubt over the incident.

I mean that you'd automatically assume that they wouldn't do it in such a public place. But who knows.

For me though, the agent seems to be playing the 2 clubs off each other, saying that Chelsea are after Ferdinand, so utd will increase their deal.

Yep.

The club was founded on 18 December 1899 as the 'Milan Cricket & Football Club', by a group of English soldiers and sailors. These English origins explain why todays club name still contains the English city name: Milan, whereas the city is named Milano in Italian. Founder Alfred Edwards became the very first chairman of the club

It could well be agents' talk though. It could be feasible that kenyon and ferdinand were in the same restaurant by coincidence... although that said, what reason did rio have to be in london? surely as you say, they wouldn't be so naive would they?

i personally can't see why chelsea would want him, they have terry [former forest player, well on loan anyway], gallas, huth... and they really should spend money on a full back if anything. in any case, i don't even think ferdinand's as good as his hype, judging by his debut today, it won't be long before a certain spurs player displaces him. what's he ever done, besides a few good games in the world cup? he can't even remember when he's having a drug test

as you say, the way chelsea have done it, if they have even done it, casts doubt over the incident itself. and surely they wouldn't be so foolish as to do it just after getting the rap for ashley cole?

i don't believe it, but then, that's probably because i have slight leanings for chelsea anyway [from when they were crap] and hate man u like nothing else except d*rby county...

Just for the ones who think the gooners have gone silent.

No Henry/ no Campbell and we still whipped the dirty tactics of Blackburn and wiped the smile form Sparkys face.

NFFC well me thinks your signature needs updating.

Shall we look at the last couple of results -

16 April 2005
The Coca-Cola Football League Championship

Reading 1 - Forest 0

09 April 2005
The Coca-Cola Football League Championship

Nottm Forest 0 - Plymouth 3

06 April 2005
The Coca-Cola Football League Championship

Coventry 2 - Forest 0

02 April 2005
The Coca-Cola Football League Championship

Crewe 1 - Forest 1

19 March 2005
The Coca-Cola Football League Championship

Forest 1 - Wigan 1

16 March 2005
The Coca-Cola Football League Championship

Forest 0 - Leeds 0

12 March 2005
The Coca-Cola Football League Championship

Ipswich 6 - Forest 0

08 March 2005
The Coca-Cola Football League Championship

Watford 0 - Forest 2

What can we deduct from this well from 8 games, 4 ost (including 1 drubbing) 3 draws and one win.

Sorry to shatter your illusions but face up to it your playing League 1 football next season.

:D

What honour will Forest win if ( when ) they drop into the third division.

No other European club has ever won the European Cup and been relegated to the 3rd division of their national league.

I think you'll find Mourinho is fast becoming the most hated manager in football. Yes Fergie tapped up Stam, that's not my issue, but JM's manner makes it hard for me to not want to repeatedly slap him. The way he stuck 2 fingers up to his recent touchline ban plus how he 'saw' someone go in to the referee's room in another match.....only no he didn't just goes to show what we can expect from the man who learned the majority of his footballing knowledge from being Bobby Robson's translator.

sherer 17-04-2005 13:10

Re: [Merged] Football talk

the fact is until the FA, UEFA stopped tapping up it will keep going on.. yes Man U have done it several times and so have most other clubs in the world.. just look at Real Madrid they do it all the time..

The thing is not sure if banning tapping up is against EU laws and the treaty of Rome. surely any employee can talk to another company about getting a job there if he wants and any owner of a company can ask someone if they want to work there..

I blame all these agents all they really want is to have players move so they can get a % of the money

Whatever the circumstances, there is NO EXCUSE to do that.

If he were mine, I would be expecting him in my office with his resignation.

And if a Forest player did that, I would be ashamed and angered and call for his sacking. Come to think of it, it doesn't matter which team the offender played for.

Utter disgrace there is NO PLACE for that in ANY SPORT.

I remember after the FA Cup game on Sunday everyone on all the United boards I go to was saying how you can critise the team after that performance.. i say the performance on Sunday is why the team should be critisised and also fined 2 weeks wages as well.. we showed no hunger or desire last night and several players were just going through the motions.. to win trophies you have to play well over a number of games not once every few weeks.. last nights performance wasn't good enough..

Also was reading on the UEFA web site that the reason Inter didn't get banned is that the laws in Italy state UEFA needs to look after security in the stadium and the UEFA laws say it is the hosting club..

No, but since the Cantona, Diouf and countless other examples, players have to be careful about doing anything which is seen to be retaliating with fans. I daresay that years ago if fans goaded a player and the player reacted the fans would have just laughed and treated it as a victory that they affected the player. Nowadays they tend to report it to the police and try and sue the player...

Good to hear from such an authority on the matter.

SAF must have a HUGE clear-out this summer. The team is nothing like the force we were in the 90s. He needs to start by admitting he has been wrong in the last few years with his tactics.

Next season will be his last. I guarantee it. Perhaps he'll move up but I don't believe he belongs in today's style of play. We were definately the team of the 90s but the game has moved on his stubborness (once such a powerful trait for him) is now working against him. He won't admit that we're not the force we used to be.

Not making excuses but allegedly this has been going on all season, so some possible rationalisation for the season we're having. Which has also involved for the last 4 months the team being leaked onto the 'net on fridays.

Megson should sack the lot of them, for bringing the club into disrepute and breach of contract. In any other job the same is likely to happen.

Don't have a video.

Neville was standing with the ball at the touchline while a substitution was taking place. A couple of people in the Everton Family enclosure (the same family enclosure where fans reported United players to the police last year for swearing) were shouting abuse at him and making the ****er sign. He dropped the ball and hit it with his left foot into the stand (weakly - it was his left foot remember).

I'm not making excuses for Neville but some of the abuse players get from fans is unreal. I don't know if I could keep my cool, but then again I'm not a professional footballer paid millions of pounds. He should have known better.

No, I'm not going to report posts because I don't see a problem with it, and it's not fair on other users to go grassing to mods all the time.

I'd also like to know where the site rules explicitly state you can't quote articles from other sites.

The new one will be intended for the 05/06 campaign but will be open to any pre-season comments on transfers, friendlies etc. The new thread will open when this one closes and will have a new but football-related title. I'm thinking of calling it "On me 'ead, son"! or even "Back of the net", but you'll find out soon enough what the new name will be.

:D More like contender for fluke of the season.

Or living proof with his face that Man descended from pie eating Apes.

Never mind though he has won the PFA young player of the year award so at least United will have won something this year.

And John Terry has picked up the PFA Player Of The Year Award.

Although Im guessing that can't be decided on Premiership goals as they are all decades behind Henry with 25 goals so far and Rooney and Terry with a meagre 10.

:D

Re: [Merged] Football talk

Probably upset a few everton fans but if Everton finish 4th (which seems likely) and Liverpool win the Champions league (they`ve got a chance but I dont think they will), then the F.A will decide which one will enter the champions league next season. Imo, if that is the case (I am defintely no fan of Liverpool ) then Liverpool will be the most obvious choice to me. I can see Everton going out in the prelimanary stages and that would do English clubs no favours because the further the clubs go in the competion, then the more places they get the following season. I`m sorry but Everton are just not going to be up for European football but (I have to bite my tongue when I say this) Liverpool are a far better prospect.

Mal 26-04-2005 11:16

Re: [Merged] Football talk

To me I think that Liverpool should get it, because, if they did win, they would be the champions and a place in the next competition should be one of the rewards for winning it.

I need to clean my mouth out after saying that. Also, I may need therapy... :)

To be fair, Everton should get the place regardless. After all, they were the first English champions to be denied a place in the competition due to the Heysel aftermath, and we all know who got the blame for that. It would be grossly unfair and a cruel irony, to 'do' them again in favour of Liverpool.

Police appeal on football trouble
https://www.cableforum.co.uk/images/local/2005/04/1.jpg
Police are appealing for more help in identifying troublemakers at Saturday's Irish League match between title rivals Glentoran and Linfield.

Four hundred fans forced their way onto the pitch after the final whistle at Belfast's Oval stadium.

Nine police officers and two fans were injured. Children were among hundreds who tried to protect themselves from glass and bricks thrown into the stand.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/northern_ireland/4483219.stm
Lets hope the police can catch the morons who ruined the game at the weekend. Something needs to be done and soon. The fact that they were able to bring bottles into the ground shows the lack of security at Irish league games.

Re: [Merged] Football talk

I heard this on the Radio the other day and grabbed it off the net. How true it is  :

1978
Wales win the Grand Slam in Rugby
The Pope Dies
Liverpool lose in the League Cup final to the eventual League Champions that year (Forest)
Liverpool win the European Cup

2005
Wales win the Grand Slam in Rugby
The Pope Dies
Liverpool lose in the League Cup final to the eventual League Champions that year (Chelsea)

Still not convinced? Read on ...

1981
Prince Charles got married
Ken and Deirdre (Coronation Street) got married
A new Doctor Who was appointed
Liverpool won the European Cup

2005
Prince Charles marries
Ken and Deirdre re-married
New Doctor Who starts with a new Doctor

So the omens are there and in true Liverpool style we all know that they are going to capitulate and lose :D I hope not as I am a Liverpool fan.

gazzae, u must be blinkered cos I saw AC Milan last night and they did anything but impressed me, if PSV can stop them effectively for 90 mins like they did last night (they were undone by one sublime piece of skill from kaka and at 90mins they were tired) then I believe Chelsea or Liverpool will be able to execute their tactics even better.

PSV stopped them effectively???? Milan had 9 shots on target to PSV's 6. 8 corners to PSV's 0. Yes PSV were dominant in the second half but if you watch Milan you know they have confidence in their defense. They are happy to go a goal ahead and then sit back.

If Milan don't win it this year I will get a Liverpool tattoo.

TigaSefi 27-04-2005 10:39

Re: [Merged] Football talk

9 shots on target and only 2 goals ? poor ratio. I heard of teams getting more shots on target and still come away with a defeat. Statistics means nothing really. Liverpool were all over Chelsea three times and still lost. Just luck and creating luck + hard work will get u the results. Plus a one off final means anything could happen. Last time AC Milan won it, it was via a penalty kick out so they aren't the overpowering all conquering team everyone makes them out to be.

Who makes them out to be an overpowering, all conquering team?

I don't. I make them out to be a very good defensive team. A team who knows that chances are they will only need one goal to win, so once they get that goal they are very happy to sit back and let the other team come at them.

'Rio Ferdinand Urged Jody Morris To Kill Photographer'

Quote:

Rio Ferdinand urged the Jody Morris to "kill" a photographer and "stamp on his head" during a late-night fracas, according to a report in the Daily Mirror. Rio's agent has branded the story "nonsense" - although, sadly, there's been no denial that Rio would be stupid enough to spend time with Morris
Apparently Rio also "pushed a tin of paint at the photographer and thrown a bag of CDs".

Is this another load of nonsense?

Interesting article

here
On why Liverpool could be in the Champions League next year, and the reasons why UEFA rules deliberately do not include a clause that the holders get automatic entry the following season.
