Read this statement at the VM community forum:

A faulty server is their explanation. That must have been one very important server to have affected every corner of the country!

Unless that 'server' was performing traffic interception, inspection, throttling, or shaping it should have had nothing to do with this.

Hm! A lot depends on what one means by a server. Could be DNS, problem with a server ( gateway between networks?) or whatever. I believe its just to confuse one by saying server. The big question is why did it take so long to find out? Of course it was a weekend !

No it couldn't

We don't normally call those 'servers'

Compared to the 2-3 weeks it took last time?

Virgin Media struck dumb by NATIONWIDE packet loss balls-up
Turning it off and on again fixes glitch 12 HOURS LATER
Makes me wonder what single server (rather than router) could cause so many problems, unless it is the censorship filter server again.

Envious of all these interesting graphs. Since leaving VM almost 2 years ago mine has been consistently flat every day without fail :P

Censorship server still shouldn't be messing with ICMP...

Re: Think Broadband Ping Monitor Results (POST YOURS)

It's nothing to do with the IWF / censorship filter.

The censorship kit isn't a single server for obvious reasons, it's a cluster.

Suspect they're trying to keep it simple by referring to a router as a 'server'.

Only other alternative is that a piece of Allot kit broke, though they shouldn't be wasting that thing's CPU time with ICMP.

Another reboot in the small hours. I'm not sure why.

I had the same TBB glitch but there was no reboot.

I suspect that Roughie didn't have a reboot either.

Re: Think Broadband Ping Monitor Results (POST YOURS)

Yet another glitch in the routing between VM and TBB it seems.
