Try going outside of Virgin Media network, as I tried with Namesco in London, where the problem appears to be.
In VM network I can get full speed, outside, I can't

Dunno if they've changed it for new users but my pings come from pingbox1.thinkbroadband.com. Which is still fine. VM problems again.

Looks to me like it's definitely Virgin's problem:

Re: Think Broadband Ping Monitor Results (POST YOURS)

The VM Community forum has a thread about this and James W (Community Lead - Help & Support Forum Team) stated at 17:40pm
"I'm sorry to see that this is occurring: I've escalated it to our broadband support teams a while ago for investigation, and am waiting for an update.

I'll update when I do get that information through."

and gave this update at 21:09pm
"I assure you we do have our networking teams available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

This is being looked into, but I've no updates to share at the moment, I'm sorry.

Hopefully it won't be too much longer, but thank you for your patience so far. "

Looks like a sharp return to normal service.

I hope we are honoured with a proper explanation from VM.

Edit.............................................. ..........................

Despite the improved graph, and another modem reboot, I am only getting 100Mb download now.

Edit.............................................. .................................................. .....

Did a return to factory settings and then back to modem only mode. Now getting full speed, (160Mb), and ping of 11ms.
