It stopped happening soon after I posted. I'd read about other people having this problem, but it had never happened to me before.

Response times are better now, too. :)

Some people have initially reported this, but give it time ;)

Could you let us know if this is maintained or if it starts to slow down please?

Took 5 attempts to change a padding setting in Planned Recordings, last night. First 4 times, I get spinning circle for 2 minutes only for it not to have updated. Fifth time eventually worked and I finally got the message about the schedule being updated after a few minutes. Bit like deleting recordings, often have to try 2 or more times. Tried to watch F1 on Sky mix today but the old lip sync problem was too bad so watched on free box which I always use as back up to unreliable Tivo and no need to mess with padding as it obviously has "accurate recording".

Have you actually reported these issues to VM? You should be getting a refund until they sort this out. Maybe you should speak to the CEO's Office.

Only way to sort it is to do a full clear and delete everything

That would be a very drastic and last ditch move.

From time to time, my Tivo makes that horrible clicking sound indicating that the hard drive is on its way out. Just re-setting the box seems to clear it and the noise doesn't come back for a few months. I think you should try that before deleting all your recordings.

I've been sent out to slow tivos and all I can do is swap it out. So rather than wasting your time with a technician to "have a closer look" may as well reset the box as the recordings are going to get lost anyway

..and surely the technician should carry out the full reset before swapping out the box?

Technicians only get 31mins a job, there is no time to try and see if a reset works

Do you explain they are losing recordings and settings for nothing? Do you report back to VM that it isn't fit for purpose?

Something similar also happened to me last night. I tried to set a Series Link, it took ages of spinning circle and still didn't do it.

I thought I would try later on, but couldn't. It kept retrying itself until it worked, leaving me unable to use the box for ages. I used the time to put some rubbish out!

Also, it has started crashing either the home screen or the box completely on occasions.

It's pathetic beyond a joke.

The call handler should advise the customer that if I visit there is a probability they will loose their recordings. If you feel the Tivo is not fit for purpose you do have a price increase coming soon so you can renegotiate a different package or try another provider

Re: Major TiVo Update

We only received the update this weekend. Tivo was always slow for me but now it is even worse for virtually every click of a button to move between functions.

Contract is up next month. So based on this disaster and the November price rise - I will be off even if I have to drop down on broadband speed.
