If you have an old ambit or previous versions then yes you need a superhub when they upgrade to 60mb

Any timetable for these upgrades?

(might have already been answered, don't have time to read 4 pages!)

Up to 20Mb anything higher and you would need to upgrade to a Superhub.

Re: Virgin Media to Double Broadband Speed

It's pretty easy to tell if you'll need a new Modem or not.

The ONLY modems capable of 30Mbit and higher are the Superhub and the Ambit 300 (This one: http://www.techfresh.net/wp-content/...rgin-modem.jpg). That's it.

Any other modems can only do up to 20 at best. Some REALLY old modems can't even do that, but it's very unlikely you'll even have any of those (You're talking NTL 120's and the like).

SO as a rule of thumb:

10Meg users won't need a new modem
20Meg users that don't have a Superhub WILL need a new Modem
30Meg and higher users won't need a new modem (It's impossible to be on 30meg and on an old modem - believe me, I've seen Engineers try it!).

The jury's still out on what happens with the Ambit 300 users on 50meg, but don't be surprised if they need a superhub as well.

IMPORTANT THING TO REMEMBER: MOST of the issues with the superhub are regarding its capabilities as a router. As a modem, it's absolutely fine - and if you have a standalone router (Such as a netgear or a D-link) you OWN it and can continue to use it with a Superhub, just remember that unless it's wireless-N, you won't get much benefit out of your new speeds.

Anyone going to 40Mb will receive a Superhub, anyone on 2Mb or 10Mb can use their existing kit as they will not be upgraded past 20Mb

As this is from the Community forum and was posted by Mark Wilkins the Forum Manager then I believe him, not aimed at the poster whose post I am answering by the way just a good post to use as a soundboard.
