Re: Moans and Pet Hates part 8

Nash I would write something like this to your local council CEO but first of all I would write to the housing officer a similar letter if not the same and keep copies of all correspondence. I would keep a diary of everything they do that you feel is unreasonable as a neighbour i.e breaking plant pots, children playing noisy late at at night, rubbish being left for long periods of time etc. You could also take this letter to your local Councillor on Monday and see if he thinks it is okay or if anything thing needs added or removed, who knows maybe he will pass it on to the relevant parties for you. I do hope you get this problem sorted soon as I know what it is like to live beside a neighbour who thinks nothing of making your life an utter misery all I can say is I'm fine now but there was a time not so long ago my life at home was unbearable through her actions and inaction at doing something about it. You really do have my sympathies in this situation you find yourself in, I know it's hard but try and not let it get you down too much take care.

Dear (Mr xxxx or Mrs xxxx) or To whom it may concern,

Private and Confidential

I feel that your home should be a place where you are able to relax if you so choose, but inconsiderate neighbours can ruin this, and some of the worst offenders are those who shatter your peace with constant unbearable noise and total disregard in what their children are doing by allowing their children as what I can only describe as the freedom to run wild and do as they please with no consideration to their neighbours or neighbouring properties. I'm saddened to say that is the situation I now find myself in and I am truly at my wits end with this situation.

I feel sadly I have no choice but to get the council involved in the hope that I may finally get my once peaceful home back. I'm quite sure that you would be in agreement that ones home should be a place where one should be able to relax and enjoy.

To name some things that is spoiling the enjoyment of my home and these are:

They keeps black bags full of Rubbish in the house this causes myself great concern where mice and rats are concerned. I think the council have had to come and take them away outwith the allocated collection dates (please correct me if this is not the case).

The house in question has had the Pest Control out 4 times within a year (please correct me if this is not the case).

Their children have not been allowed to stay there till the house is clean, the children are never at school (once again please correct me if this is not the case)

As the children seem to absent from school during the day my enjoyment of my home is also being shattered during these hours through their behavior.

In my opinion their children have been running wild destroying things which is a no no in my book as they a simply not giving their neighbour's any consideration.

By leaving rubbish about that makes our address look both unsightly and is removing the enjoyment of my home, it also looks as if I simply do not care for my home which I can assure is not the case.

I am now making a complaint to you as my local council in the hope that this problem will be hopefully solved in regards to this matter. My neighbour to whom the complaint is about resides at this (address here) I feel they are causing a nuisance through persistent and excessive noise and unacceptable behavior which adversely affects my enjoyment of my home.

It goes without question I feel as a neighbour I have a duty of care to my fellow neighbours in keeping my property neat and tidy and allowing others to enjoy the peace and quiet that your home should bring by not any causing disturbance in any shape nor form.

On a final note and I feel is needed to state is that I would be deeply ashamed if I thought I was causing my neighbours such distress and taking away the enjoyment of their home.

I trust this matter will be treated strictly confidential and my name and address will not be given to whom this complaint is about simply because I do not want any repercussions from this family as my enjoyment of home is bad enough without being added to due to this complaint.

Please advice if this will not be the case before any action is undertaken by the council.

Regards

(your name)

Well it looks like instead of a ICD battery change they are going to implant a new ICD now plus it looks like it won't be done till late June or sometime in July now when the original plan was to do it much earlier this year.

Take care den and I'm sorry to hear implant won't be going ahead as planned.

They are leaving it to the last moment sadly so any plans to see the family up the line are delayed for now.

Internet crawling to a standstill, spent half an hour on phone to tech support. Gotta actually give Virgin kudos for this, might have got offshore tech help but I was able to understand every single thing he said, I did have to ask him to repeat one thing but a car decided to beep its horn just at that point.

Been escalated to second tier support, give 48 hours if not better engineer visit needed.

Some people in hospitals.

Just for a change it's not me that's in it's my dad. He's going to be fine by the way not to worry.

But in the bed next to him the patient keeps having 8 or nine visitors at once which is disturbing the whole ward.

Reminds me of when I was last in hospital. Due to me being on an infectious ward, we each had individual rooms and were not allowed visitors in our rooms. So, when my sister bought my neice and nephew in, I went and met them in the visitor's room. My nephew decided to walk up to the other patient in the room, who immediately said "Get him away from me! I am infectious!". He did not have any visitors, and was just sitting there watching TV (which he could have done in his room). How selfish of him. We ended up having to have our visit in the corridor outside the ward, which I don't think was good for anyone.

Anyway, my moan this morning. Also selfish people, ironically. It's also a question. Why do people who don't want to get on a train that pulls in to the station stand in front of the doors (and I mean immediately in front), then moan when other people, who do want to get on the train, ask them to move? Why stand there if you aren't going to get on the train? Why not just stand a little further away then move into position when the train you do want comes in?

That is, of course, assuming people getting on the train ask.. I was getting on a train the other day, and someone grabbed hold of my rucksack and pulled. They did apologise, and were apparently looking for something to hold on to to get on the train (ignoring the bloody great handrail above my head). I did point out that I considered them rude, and that all the sorrys in the world wouldn't have made a blind bit of difference if I had fallen out the train and injured myself (which was a distinct possibility given how hard they pulled).

Julian 16-05-2016 12:15

Re: Moans and Pet Hates part 8

Also about trains....

People who sit in the aisle seat having put bags on the window seat.

Stuart 16-05-2016 12:42

Re: Moans and Pet Hates part 8

I think they should be charged for 2 tickets. Might seem harsh, but I feel that we need the train companies to stop people doing this, and a punishment like this would be the solution that is most likely to work.

Related to this, another moan is people who sit in the Aisle seat, leaving the window seat empty, then grumble when a person asks to sit at the window seat (and yes, I have been known to ask them to move so I can sit down as a matter of principle).

I remember something similar with mother, the elderly woman opposite was pretty much unresponsive except for cries of pain and yet had loads of visitors at all times having loud long conversations over the bed with each other visitors completely ignoring the old woman, to top it all the fat lazy dollop of a daughter was using the old womans mobility scooter!

Running late due to the wee one dilly-dallying and not feeling the need to rush, he is usually at school by now. I swear he is worse than a girl when it comes to doing his hair and the hair products that he uses.

Re: Moans and Pet Hates part 8

The price of a new combi boiler :( our old one stopped working on Monday and started to leak water all over the kitchen work surface tbh it has done it's job well as it has been in the house since we bought it, so goodness only knows what age it actually is (I reckon maybe 18 years old maybe more)

On a plus side I'm now getting a new combi condenser boiler and replacing the radiators and in the bathroom a chrome towel rail tbh I really hate the white one that is there atm. Roll on next Thursday although I have been told the work will take 1.5 days so while I can't wait for the new heating system I'm not looking forward to the upheaval.

denphone 19-05-2016 13:12

Re: Moans and Pet Hates part 8

Yes it is a bit of a upheaval weenie as we know from having our new boiler put in a while back as boilers generally last for around 15 to 20 years dependant on factors so your old boiler has done pretty well in my opinion.

Yes boilers are not cheap as some can cost £3000 plus from what l hear.

Uncle Peter 19-05-2016 13:29

Re: Moans and Pet Hates part 8

Our Vaillant one was just over 3 grand with the fitting although this was about 3 years ago or so. That didn't include radiators but did include decommissioning the old boiler and header tank in the roof.

Money well spent though, it's knocked the winter gas bills down a fair chunk and the old one was chewing through a new pump every few months.

weenie 19-05-2016 14:18

Re: Moans and Pet Hates part 8

The boiler we are getting den is half that price thank goodness but it's the hidden extra's that seem to have bumped up the price a fair bit. Magnetic filter, drayton RF3 programmable room thermostat, radiators, towel rail and then the Labour/materials/system cleanse. I have never heard of a magnetic filter tbh and don't know if this add on is needed or not but hubby is happy with the price and the 7 year manufacturer's guarantee so that's all that matter's I suppose.

Yes the chap did say that we would notice a difference in our gas bills hopefully we will be the same as you Uncle P. We are just under the 4 grand as we are not renewing the kitchen or the two living room radiators as these were just replaced last May. I think we got a good deal compared to what British Gas quoted us they wanted over 5 grand which I thought was very expensive so we phoned around. I think we got a good deal because it's a family business and not a large firm.

Good Luck with the upheaval Weenie, but it will be worth it, The magnetic filter is a blessing, I got one installed, but my neighbour never and eventually she had to get one as her radiators were not heating properly as they were clogged, I think it cost her a good amount of money,

So cross, I paid that debt off last month and they said they would cancel the DD and everything. They didn't, and took it again yesterday. Taking me 2p over my overdraft limit. I called the company, and they said they could either refund the money which takes 10 days or call my bank and claim the DD as an indemnity. Called the bank, they did it and now the money is back in my account. However, won't show until Tuesday morning.

I would do what SnoopZ has suggested asap.

Mark I did not think they are allowed to take a DD or Standing order out on a Saturday, what they may have done is reserved the payment this will show as a (pending payment) on your account.

I would also ask your bank if this company cancelled the DD then if they did not then I would phone the company and say you have now have confirmation from your bank that they in fact did not comply with what they said to you in cancelling the DD therefore this has now put you into financial hardship as you did not budget for a cancelled DD and why should you after all it was meant to be cancelled. If you get no joy with the company then I would request that they email you stating as to why the DD was not cancelled when they clearly stated to you on date xx/xx/2016 that it would be cancelled and if they would be so kind and attach a copy of their policy in regards to refunds in regards to this matter that you now find yourself in at no fault of your own and you find it extremely unfair that you are in this position due to their error. Ask them if they think it's fair that you are out of pocket due to their error!

Good Luck and hope you get it sorted soon, this link may of help Mark.

I'm getting fed up with not having a boiler as I am really missing my Radox bubble bath last thing at night, whereas the two boys and hubby are used to showers and very rarely have a bath so it's not bothering them too much if any.

Den, I'd be on the phone to my consultant (via the secretary) bending his/her ear and explaining how this terrible uncertainty is causing you considerable, understandable, anxiety and putting your health further at risk. Given all the other patients they have to deal with it's unlikely that they have any idea of the situation you're in and you may at least come away from any conversation feeling a little reassured. Best of luck.

Well on Sunday I decided to create a Recovery Media of my HDD in preparation of Windows 10.

The process took over 9 hours, then dud a factory reset of my computer, back to Windows 8.

My data was on the USB HDD, several attempts it refused to see the USB HDD (The IT guy at work said it possibly failed as I had other data on it).

Yesterday I decided to start again, I connected my laptop directly to my router and downloaded 185 updates (1.8GB) again another 3 hours of my life lost, thanks to M$ restricting how fast you can download.

But by 10pm last night I was back to Windows 8.1.

Tonight I installed Thunderbird, and Avast.

My only problem is VAIO Care keeps saying a newer version is available despite being the latest version, it kept crashing so I downloaded the latest version.

But I'm drained after this nightmare.

When are you installing 10 have you been offered the free upgrade yet?

I don't have any problems with it and it installed all my drivers automatically once it got to the desktop.

Not sure why we went back onto 8.1 and installed AV etc and didnt just install 10, unless it hadnt offered you it yet?

Anyway there in a Windows 10 thread for stuff like this. :)

I now have the Windows 10 icon in the notification panel, but I need to install something that Sony recommended., before I put on 10.

My IT guys said it might have failed the recovery media because I put it on a drive with other data.

Just because I'm a trouble maker, I'd complain about her. No matter what state your feet and/or legs are in, that is not a professional response.

Highlighting your situation with the head honcho never hurts. They're not constantly monitoring what's happening to all their patients and you might be pleasantly surprised at what happens. The thing is, you now have it on record and there can be no excuses for further delays etc. If you don't hear back within a few days, I would follow it up. To be fair to them, they have no idea of what toll all this is taking on you unless they're informed of it. They'll certainly want to avoid a problem, especially having been warned of it in writing. Best of luck Den.

Oh right. When I bought my petrol strimmer/multitool a couple of years ago I bought about 90m of the stuff - only used about a foot to date :D

My late father's use to buzz quite loudly (wrist). Quite an odd thing to remember.

I hope yours is good enough not to have it redone anyway.

There's 30m on the roll and I only needed about 4 to fill up the split spool so perhaps it's not so expensive. Still £6 seems a lot for a bit of nylon thread.

Yes huge mark-up. Mine's 2.4mm and comes on 15m rolls.

Right hand side suggests it's not a heart issue, more likely gall bladder. Get the quack to check it out.

When my gall bladder played up last year it was agonising so I can sympathise. If you're still worried and in pain after seeing the doc, I'd head off to A&E. After my first night in A&E they told me the cause of my pain was constipation and sent me home even though I told them it wasn't. I had to go back the following night because I was in such pain and was finally admitted with a severely infected gall bladder which was later removed.

Best of luck whatever it is Weenie. :tu:

Sometimes both Painkillers and anti sickness tablets can require several doses to work. It's as if they build up in your system.

I've recently had my gall bladder removed, and the GP put me on Motillium for anti sickness, with instructions that I only take them if I feel sick. Trouble is, they take at least a couple of doses to work.

weenie 07-06-2016 11:25

Re: Moans and Pet Hates part 8

The anti-sickness medication I was given were stemetil that I just could not take as they made me feel very drowsy so the anti-sickness med I'm on now is metoclopramide 10mg one three times daily, I must admit I never thought that it would take a couple of doses for them to work.

The doctor has arranged for a scan and should hear within the next few weeks 4 weeks max. The doctor was very good took blood pressure 97/76 and examined me he did state that my tummy area was tender along with tenderness where the gall bladder is located, he also stated that if I should be in that amount of pain again go straight to A&E. He then went on to say stuff about pain management just like Stuart has stated it may take a couple of doses for it to work to the desired effect he has also advised that I take my anti sickness tablets as prescribed one three times daily.

Thanks everyone for your kind words and advice.

Gall bladder and associated problems can lead to pancreatitis which is potentially life threatening so don't hang around suffering for too long and go for the scans even if you feel better.

In my case I'd had what I didn't know was the first symptom of my problem some months earlier. Several hours of intense stomach pain in the night which, after being sick, then gradually dissipated the following day. Being a normal bloke I ignored it but promised the wife I'd go to the quack if it happened again which it did a few months later. Pity they didn't get the diagnosis right first time, however, and I was admitted as an emergency from A&E and put on morphine and strong IV antibiotics for almost a week.

The consultant told me that these problems don't tend to resolve themselves so surgery is often the only answer. The good news is it can be done via keyhole surgery which means a hospital stay of only 2-3 days.
