Any programmes you like mate just use the thumbs up button and the Tivo will learn the type of programmes you like and will automatically record stuff it thinks you'll enjoy.
I personally love this feature as found some hidden gems through it.

Mainly because of the fact that customers can be on all sorts of existing packages, it's quicker and simpler to do it via the phone

Isn't when my phone is knackered. Even tried to download digital home support to use online chat. But it keeps saying I'm not a virgin broadband customer.

l am not surprised by the XL TV pack hike as that's due to the deal for BT Sports but £2.50 is still far better then the £15 plus Sky charge.

If the sky channels had arrived/or do and a discount on Netflix for VIP customers far enough but extra £2.50 is a bit to harsh

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2013) Vol. 5.

Any idea how much the essential collection is going up by? When I got the 12 months half price for sky I knocked my VM package down to Essential so that I could have tv in the bedroom as living in a block of flats multiscreen (the new name for multiroom) is not a viable option

Trouble is don't we have to use the get out clause when we get the letters rather than leave it till the price rise in February ???

Will xxl 120bb be going up? Or just upto 60?

If it is then ill have to remove the 08 add on on phone and downgrade from 120 to 60 to compensate and xounter attack these prices.

However, if you are talking about completely new Sky channels (such as Sky Bravo), I don't disbelieve you.

Virgin XL is already £5 more expensive than Sky Entertainment Extra + due to the fact you have to pay £5 for Tivo and there is no alternative free PVR anymore. So it will be £7.50 difference after this rise.

I'm not interested in BT Sport, I am only on XL for HD. If the rumours about HD moving down to L arn't true then I will probably look into moving to Sky again. £7.50 is a big difference even catering for Sky putting prices up.

No rumours about HD moving to L. The rumours are that all channels except HD and BT Sport will be in L.

I must have misunderstood then, in that case I will have to take a serious look at Sky. The only problem I had before was finding out how to get it installed in my flat, I kept getting send round in circles between the management company and the communal dish provider because there were no points already installed in the flat.

If you have Sky Sports or Sky Movies I'd reccomend having laptop as primary because you can't watch Sports or Movies on Tablets. If you don't have sky channels then it doesn't matter which is which.

Also bare in mind that you can only make 1 device change a month.

Loyalty isn't worth anything these days and so price is the rule as far as I am concerned. So now taken the plunge and taken to Sky (Sky World HD). I am now getting all those Sky chanels most on here are so eager to get, retaining the 120 meg BB (only other local otion is 2.5 to 4 meg adsl) and saving £11/month. Will miss some of the TIVO attributes but at the end of the day they are not worth the £132 a year extra.

As for 12 months time will look again to who can give the best deal based on the services I require.

This happened last year, one phonecall to retentions and my bill came back down to lower than I was paying before the price rise.

---------- Post added at 08:56 ---------- Previous post was at 08:53 ----------

The one thing that Sky has that I can't get is Game Of Thrones, with all the recent additions to VM I wouldn't personally go to Sky. With Netflix I am a happy customer, anything else I can pick up on Blinkbox.( that is an app, I would like to see on VM).

The way to go reap the benefits to the consumer of competition, all customers should do it, it's the only way to put downward pressure on prices.

Will miss some of the TIVO attributes but at the end of the day they are not worth the £132 a year extra.

As for 12 months time will look again to who can give the best deal based on the services I require.

I'm doing same, just waiting for letter then I will ring up and cancel TV.urge others to do the same and regards loyalty sadly old loyalty means nothing to new owners this 6 months Netflix non offer proves that :(

Agreed. It really can't be stated enough that, given that you get a month free anyway, 6 months free Netflix is less than £30 value. Better than nothing but across the length of a minimum term contract with a tv provider it really shouldn't be enough to inform a decision to stay or go.

That said I did well by phoning retentions after the last pay rise and I'll be giving them the opportunity to keep me again when this one is announced.

I'm not interested in BT Sport, I am only on XL for HD. If the rumours about HD moving down to L arn't true then I will probably look into moving to Sky again. £7.50 is a big difference even catering for Sky putting prices up.

aye but remember additional boxes on sky are much more expensive than on VM this balances things up a tad i find

Depends which box you get - an additional TiVo is £11.50 (barring any bundle inclusion for an additional box)

Hi,I would have thought if the sky channels were coming to virgin they would be advertising it at the beginning of Dec.something along the lines of "here is our fantastic Xmas present to you"/"here is what you have been wanting for your Xmas ". personally the only one I want is universal HD. as mentioned before if you are knowledgeable you can find most shows on the net.or legally through/netfix/love film or just buy the HBO shows with box set DVDs new or second hand through eBay/amazon. Price rises are just a fact of life and obviously you can just move if you are not happy.cheers john

HTC One isn't supported thats bs. Its one of the premiere Android phones available. Especially when the s3 mini is supported thats absolute rubbish in comparison.

I wasn't informed of any offer, not complaining like not a chance I'd move from virgin anyway there's no way I would be able to afford to put a sky+ hd box in my bedroom.

Unless your either "sad" or "lucky" like me when you don't actually watch BT Sports.

One of my work colleagues mentioned netflix as an added VM benefit but as me and the wife have about a three hour nightly window to watch what we want (Rest of the waking/non-working day the remote is in the hands of my 5 year old grandaughter) then between live TV and on-demand our schedule is full anyway. Besides which can get it on my computer at the same base cost if I was desperate.

At the end of the day one of the major determining factors is the inviduals or families prefences. What I have is in line with my families requirements and at the best price I can get it for.

To the person calling me a liar in my inbox i'm not going to name and shame you but i'm going to post something here as people in this thread will confirm 70% of things i say are happening on VM do happen , here's some of the stuff i have posted.
I said FOX would drop to a lower package ok i said M+ but FOX did drop from XL to L pack so i still spoke truth.
I said SYFY would drop to M+ , SYFY did indeed drop to M+
I said FOX+ would launch on channel 199 , it launched on channel 199.
I also said the Chellomedia channels/cbs , horror would drop from XL to a lower pack , guess what? they have.
I said about broadband speeds getting increased , lo and behold the broadband speeds are being increased.
Do i get things wrong? Yes i'm not a Oracle and i only give information out that has been relayed to me so in future before calling anyone a liar you might want to look around , it saves you a lot of embarrasment.

Now a bit of news GINXTV are looking at launching a HD channel nothing is confirmed yet it's just chitchat at the moment.

I can understand your annoyance but things like this should really be kept to, and dealt with via private message rather than being aired in the main forum for everyone to see.

What? Advertise something that is coming soon? This is Virgin Media we're talking about! I was told last weekend that I could now receive BT Sports. Nice of them to tell me, better late than never!

As I've said before, the missing Sky channels are unlikely to be announced in advance, they will suddenly appear and take everyone by surprise.

Nothings been said yet , VM/LG are still going through each package with a fine comb and more channels will be moving packages.
HD swap isn't on the agenda at the moment.

Not too bothered over this one to be honest, with having 5 on demand it's a bit pointless.

Channel 5 are only launching it due to Top Up TV closing (Channel 5 own the stream on Freeview).
