They should have hired Joe Kinnear instead. He'd get the best out of Ninja Shagawa and Van Persil. Then he could've hired Harry Redknapp as assistant and brought in Dennis Wise as director of football.

Kagawa is going back to Dortmund. Man Utd havent got a clue, i doubt they even knew what type of player they were buying apart from knowing he was voted the best player in Germany.

i agree Fergie has shown a masterclass in getting out of a sticky situation, Utds debt and all by winning but Arsenal had major success post 2005, 01-05. Arsenal should have won the league by now but hey the average Arsenal 1st team wage is £70k a week, thats 31st highest for all sport clubs in the world right now. Man City are highest average payers in world sport, just ahead of LA Dodgers. Chelsea have not outperformed their spend any year since 2000. If you ignore agents fees then Arsenes net transfer spend in 17 years is estimated to be around £23m, + estimated 80m fees on signings (agents, signing on fees etc.) and thats around 100m net. Fergies total net around 226m, spent 546m, received 320m. Total on wages since 2000, Chelsea £1.508bn, Manchester United £1.221bn, Arsenal £1.055bn, Liverpool £1.007bn, Manchester City £845m, Spurs £619m. Tottenham have spent around 100 million more than Arsenal in last 12 years.

most importantly though Arsenal hasnt had starter stability since the invincibles. you have to have starters in the team for stability. Utd have had that.

Like Park Ji-Sung he was bought purely to tap in to the Asian market.

no way Russ. Park Ji-Sung turned out to be a secret weapon. Dong i dont know but Kagawa is an actual talent. Arsenal 'apparently' done similar when signing Park Chu-Young to get momentum behind the push in Asia.

btw Klopp has today sung the praises of Arsenal in his press conference. Although Klopp did once rule out moving away from Dortmund journos have squeezed him and got "Don't know where, don't know when" on moving to England to manage. the guy can sit tight at Dortmund for now. he can replace Wenger when he retires :D

I can have them if you pay me! freeloader ;)

like i said though, we should have won the title by now. Wenger wants to go back to the invincibles, having starters and developing, i dont totally agree but hey since 05 funnily enough 05 - 07 were both flops for performances on the field because too many changes were made. in 07/08 Arsenal were 4pts off Utd who won the league with 87pts.

Re: Football Season 2013/14 & Summer Window

 Fergies opened up a can of worms, snakes

the question from Nick Robinson made me laugh. he may well of just said get involved in the Labour push for leadership.

Fergie denied Tony Blair asked him if Gordon Brown should be sacked.

Fergie felt sorry for Wenger during the 8-2. Also says Jack Wilshere is the only true homegrown player Wenger has produced. Fergie said sorry to RVP because Robin was told by Fergie he wouldnt leave. RVP took a lower package to join Utd than what he was offered by Juve and Man City. Wenger wanted 25m but they settled on £22.5m to £24m (winning league bonus). Wenger told Fergie 'You don't realise what a good player you're getting'.

Fergie says Rafa was more concerned with destroying a match rather than winning, he found Liverpool dull to watch. Rafa shouldnt have made things personal, Fergie had success on his side.

Wayne told Fergie to sign Ozil in 2010. Fergie "My reply was that it was none of his business who we should have gone for."

There is a way Wayne could still be teammates with Ozil ;)

On Steven Gerrard, "I'm one of the few who felt Gerrard was not a top, top player. When Keane & Scholes were in our team, he seldom had a kick."

Gerrard and Lampard better than Paul Scholes? "Absolute nonsense", says Ferguson http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/foo...op-player.html

Sir Alex Ferguson has claimed that Ruud van Nistelrooy called him a “****” during the 2006 Carling Cup final for his failure to bring him on as a substitute.
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/foo...d-manager.html

Sir Alex Ferguson has revealed how Arsène Wenger had his “fists clenched” during a furious confrontation between the two managers after Manchester United ended Arsenal’s 49-game unbeaten Premier League streak.

RK'well, ive just told you, he's entitled to his opinion, he was the manager'
AC 'ok Lee, has Fergie thrown people under the bus?
LD 'wait until Wenger releases his book'

Not really. I think he is a very underrated manager. He has achieved well at most of the clubs he has been at, expect Inter, and what he did at Liverpool isn't given the credit it deserves. That team had no right to win the Champions League and get as close to the title as they did. He only left because he took the blame from the fans that should have been directed at their owners.

He is relatively polite and respectful in press conferences. He only got in trouble because he took on Fergie and wasn't good enough to deal with the fightback. The way Ferguson's friends (or those managers who aspired to be his friend) stuck the knife in whenever they could has always counted against Sir Alex in my book.

I'm not doubting his ability as a manager, just i've never heard another manager say they like him/get along. Also you don't hear many players singing his praises. I read Craig Bellamys book, from what he said when Benitez was at Liverpool no one liked him, many hated him and his way of managing players. The way he told Bellamy he wanted to get rid of him seems to sum him up.

We have to win in Dortmund or Naples now. This was always a tough group but we really shouldn't have lost today and we did so because we were too lax towards the end. A win would have been deserved but equally so was this loss. We do have to win one or two of those away games now.

The fans behind the tunnel often stay if a opposing team has played well or is otherwise respected. They did for the defeat against Swansea last year and Munich too.

A extra body is better then nothing bud because injuries are only a match away sometimes.

I don't think it will make any difference, nothing new has come from the book about the current squad, only stuff about Rooney but that was already known.

Wenger is rumoured to be given a 2 year deal next year. Klopps deal runs until 2016. Both clubs have similar philosophies.

Klopps a die hard Dortmund fan. He would not slap the Dortmund fans in the face by joining Bayern Munich. Barcelona advancing for his services will be problem if they are looking for a manager, hopefully they wont be though.

Re: Football Season 2013/14 & Summer Window

Blatter is hinting at staying on further as FIFA president. Just give it up already. I'll never understand how people with no affiliation with football end up governing it. FIFA, UEFA and home governing bodies such as the FA should be led by Former players and referees only. People that have played or officiated at the top level. No chance of it happening. Until then we shall enjoy our fixed world cup bids and world cup tournament in racist countries.

The next round of world cup bids will see North Korea bid and win after promises of Nuclear powered stadiums. 6 months down the line they'll confess they can't do it. (See Qatar and air conditioned stadium's)

Man United really need to win tonight for Moyes sake. The longer they don't perform the more people question it.

Why wasn't the sociedad player sent off for a high boot, higher/worse than Nanis last season, he wasn't even booked. Have the rules changed?

Because sometimes refs are inconsistent and/or miss things.

He didn't miss it because he gave a free kick. It's quite a big inconsistency between just a free kick and sending someone off.

Yup. He could have missed the extent of the foul. I dunno. Nani's kick probably was quite high....

Why does Ramos get a lot of bad treatment on and off the pitch? Chiellini pulls him down in the box and Ronaldo steps up to claim his 2nd of the game. Llorente scored for Juve.

Ronaldos record as it stands, 211 RM matches - 216 goals

Ridiculous player. The way he hits a ball is simply unmatched. His pace for his height. It's almost like he was created for one purpose.

Has he scored 7 goals in this year's champions league already? Gotta be having a laugh. He's only started twice.

Still took an OG to win :p:

Good to see birthday boy Morata get a few minutes in the end :) Shame he couldn't mark the occasion, snatching just a bit. He should have been put upfront instead of out wide with Ronaldo upfront to get his hattrick. Ronaldo would have probably got his hattrick playing the remaining minutes out wide and Morata pulling the defenders apart in the box.

We had so many good chances to kill the game off but didn't take them. Its been like this for a while now, not just this season, which is a bit worrying. It was a deserved victory though. Giggs, Rooney and Kagawa all had good games.

I was only joking dude. I didnt watch a second of the game, I was tuned into Real Madrids vs Juve.

Kagawa had a good game you say ?

Robins apparently had a bust up with Moyes which is why he's out. He was seen in London earlier. Nothing to do with toes

I don't think its true they had a bust up, there were some pictures of them talking, it looked like nothing and has been blown out of proportion. I expect he will play Saturday.

It was the best Kagawas played for a while, even though he missed an absoloute sitter.

Re: Football Season 2013/14 & Summer Window

Just back in from OT, it looked like it was going to be Saturday all over again, Rooney, Giggs, Kagawa played very well, not seen Carrick give the ball away so many times in one match before, Rafeal deserved to be hauled off, he seemed to be away with the fairies for long parts of the game. Valencia reverted back to type and forgot to cross the ball until it was too late.
TBH I didn't think Real Sociedad looked that good.

Still a lot of work to do in midfield and defence, to many sloppy, underhit passes and general fannying about for my liking.

Forgot to add, the all new dancing and 'singing' section went live tonight, hard to say how successful it was, sat on the same level and quite close to them, you can't hear the rest of the ground and the Real Soc fans above and behind us drowned them out a lot of the time. It's an idea worth sticking with all the same but not sure a paddock that only holds 1400 is enough.
