Last resort, try factory reset of the X-box One.

Worked for me with the SH2ac trial.

I tried that last night and it still left it on Strict, strangely if i turn the firewall off on the new device it goes to Moderate, also a person has said even though it is being reported as Strict on the Xbox One he can STILL host games which isn't meant to be possible.

A reset wil revert but as soon as you install the preview app the NXOE should install at next boot, as you're still on the NXOE release cycle.

Don't plan to risk it, more hassle than it is worth as the 360 is also displaying as moderate or strict and it never did with the normal SHs.

Someone has also said that even though their X1 is showing as restricted they can STILL host games which isn't meant to me possible if Strict. :)

I factory reset my console after getting upgraded to NXOE and I didn't lose it. I think you need to opt out to revert back. You can factory reset whilst on NXOE and you end up with a clean NXOE. It definitely made my experience much smoother. You just lose everything saved to the console so make sure games are on external.

I don't really have issues with the new dash apart from MKVs not playing smoothly, but i can avoid that by fast forwarding 30 seconds.

Yes, well it is on my Trial Modem, never had a problem on any of the other 3 customer SHs.

This is purely down to a new kind of modem on Virgin Media, hopefully a firmware will fix it.

Have you guys on the new dash been using the One Guide to change channels and stuff?

If you have never tried it or even never run your TV through the X1 i really recommend that you give it a go as it is the fastest experience at flicking through channels i have ever experienced and i think it is rather good.

Think i followed the instructions when i got the Xbox, you basically have to plug the HDMI from the Tivo into the back of the Xbox in the correct slot and then from the Xbox to the TV then you set it up, although it was years ago so i cant remember what gets asked first.

You will need to tell it your make of TV Box though, try these instructions but it was dead easy.

Make sure you select 50hz in the settings or you will get a judder.

For the old dash board but it will likely be similar.

It is really hard to explain it all and i may say it wrong.

1. Take HDMI that went from the Tivo to the Telly and put it into the back of the Xbox, in the labelled slot.

2. Then take the other HDMI from the Xbox to the TV HDMI slot.

3. Go settings on Xbox then TV & One Guide, One Guide.

4. In One Guide select TV lineup and put your details in.

5. Come back out and go to Device Control this is where your cable box should be entered correctly and also your TV should be showing your exact model if you have never done that before.

6. Come back out and check Audio & Video, make sure 50hz is ticked.

7. Come back out to the settings and go to Display & Sound, 50hz needs to be ticked in there too.

Then when it is all up and running you select One guide which should bring up TV then with controller(i use the media remote which uses Kinect) you can move the left nob to the left or up or down then you can change channels and generally get used to it and learn how it all works, you can even set channel favs, switching channels is so fast, well it is compared to my V+.

Hit a block when I realised you need Kinect to setup the TiVo with console. Don't have Kinect so will have to abandon that. Thanks though for the instructions, will bookmark that post and save up for a Kinect.

Re: The Xbox One Thread

Why do you need Kinect to setup a tv box?

Tezcatlipoca 12-10-2015 20:35

Re: The Xbox One Thread

Xbox One uses Kinect as an IR blaster for channel changing etc.

Without Kinect, the console cannot control the TiVo or any other STB, which makes routing the STB through the console rather pointless, as you can't use OneGuide and still need the STB's remote.

There is a way without Kinect, though:

Xbox One also has a port on the back for connecting an IR extension cable.

https://support.xbox.com/en-GB/xbox-...shoot-oneguide

https://support.xbox.com/en-GB/xbox-...-with-xbox-one

You'd need something like this:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B...=sr_1_1&sr=8-1

http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B...=sr_1_2&sr=8-2

You can use the Xbox controller to use the Oneguide, i do agree it is better with the remote which needs Kinect though.

You don't need Kinect for the Media Remote as such - you need it for the IR blasting so that the console can control your TiVo / Sky box / whatever.

Doesn't matter if the Xbox One controller can navigate the OneGuide if there is no Kinect for the console to then control the STB.

Whether you use the Media Remote or the controller for the OneGuide, it's the Kinect (or separate IR extender thing as I linked to earlier) that actually controls your STB and other devices.

No Kinect (or IR extender) means that the OneGuide is pointless as you still need to control the STB using its own remote.

SnoopZ 13-10-2015 10:02

Re: The Xbox One Thread

On right I understand now, glad I have Kinect then as it is far better navigating a channel list than my slowwwww V+, wonder how I will feel when I get a TiVo though?

MalteseFalcon 13-10-2015 12:50

Re: The Xbox One Thread

So I could still connect the TiVo through the console, but use the remote instead of Kinect?

SnoopZ 13-10-2015 13:14

Re: The Xbox One Thread

You could as that is how i have always viewed tv through it, however you can't use the OneGuide so it will be just like watching normal tv with instant access to the console. I recommend it i cant imagine going back to just having tv and no console on.

Tezcatlipoca 13-10-2015 20:24

Re: The Xbox One Thread

I don't see the point without Kinect or an IR extender. It just means you need to use an extra remote (and more power) to watch TV, with the only benefit being freeing up an HDMI port on the TV.

Just set up the TV through the console. Some slight lag for me, but not a huge deal breaker. Also it's a shame that we can't access recorded content through the one, so I have to use my sky remote for that :)

You can set the console to go straight to TV in the settings if you want.

Not sure if there is a point of having TV through the console without Kinect and a media remote though as Matt said, i have both so it works well.

I've got the Kinect sensor. Can you change channels via voice commands?

SnoopZ 24-10-2015 15:39

Re: The Xbox One Thread

Yes you can, whether you will want to keep doing that is another matter, trying saying something like .... Xbox watch Sky One

It should work, but you need to make sure you have told the console what sky equipment you have in the options?

You can also use the left stick on the controller to move up and down on the channels which is super quick.

The 500gb is far too small, so i would go for a 1TB personally.

However even 1tb is kinda small, if it works out cheaper i would go the 500gb route and you maybe able to purchase a 2tb external drive which is about the size of a pack of cards but thinner and plugs into the rear of the console.

This is the external drive i have and many others on this forum. You will have to do the maths on whether it would work out cost wise about the same, but you need the space for the games as they are 30-50gb in size and you get a few free games each month from microsoft with your GOLD account. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Passport-Ult.../dp/B00CSH1B4M

---------- Post added at 16:01 ---------- Previous post was at 15:53 ----------

Amazon are selling the Xbox One 1TB for £298 but without games, i think your son would want some games and they're expensive, so if the games are good you maybe better off with 500gb console 3 free games and a 2TB external drive which you can add at a later date.

What i do recommend though is getting EA Access this will cost you £20 a year but you get loads of full games you can download in that cost, which again will need alot of storage space!

See my edit on Amazon i would shop around on price for sure as 500gb will be filled up in a few game installs especially with all the games you get with EA Access(check them), so if you can get the 500gb £50 cheaper else where it may make you get an external too.

Yeah, it's pricey on its own, but the console bundle itself is a good deal considering you get the controller plus a 1TB SSHD console. I'd been wanting a new console anyway (my Day One was getting very noisy, and I'm on my 3rd PSU), so thought I may as well go for the Elite.

I have the elite controller pre-ordered , it's got really good reviews too , hopefully will turn up on Tuesday so I can use it for halo 5 :)

I can't either as I've throw my 2 at the wall many a times, I must control my anger. :D

Thanks SnoopZ think I will go with the bundle pack and buy the external drive at a later date as the Bundle contents: •xbox one console with 500gb hard drive •wireless controller •chat headset •hdmi cable •power supply •xbox one wireless controller •the fighter within •killer instinct •halo: the master chief collection. £384.99 whereas the the TB console is £349.99 with no games.

As SnoopZ says I also have a WD 2TB HDD it's easy to install.

I fact I'm planning on getting another one to install 360 games when the backward compatibility is launched.

How is the Elite compared the Day One? I really wish Microsoft would trim it down and allow as to put HDs in.

The New Xbox Experience dash is set to launch for everyone on November 12th.

Hopefully they will fis the stuttering media issue while playing MKVs by then so i don't have to use my work around.

It's good, but I agree it'd be nice to have a smaller console!

I also wish that MS would redesign the awful PSU.

I am *very* impressed with the controller, though, more than with the console itself.

What's so good about it? Any improvements if you're not going to be remapping the controls?

Tezcatlipoca 28-10-2015 02:24

Re: The Xbox One Thread

The build quality is *far* superior to the awful Day One controller. It has a true "premium" feel to it.

The paddles are *very* useful, even if you don't care about remapping other buttons.

e.g.

On Destiny, I have X and A mapped to the back left and right paddles, enabling me to reload or jump without taking my thumb off the right stick. I also have the bumpers mapped to the front left and right paddles, enabling me to use my grenades, melee, and super without having to take my fingers off the triggers.

You can choose from a variety of pre-set profiles, or create your own. The controller itself can store two.

Mine shipped yesterday so its currently waiting for me at home, can't wait to try it out on Halo 5 :)

Yeah, I imagine that it'd be great for Halo just as it is for Destiny :)

I'll be making a Halo 5 profile for when I start it this week.

Totally agree with your comments , very high build quality, now have reload, change weapon and jump on the back paddles so I don't take my finger off the thumb stick, turned look sensitivity up a considerable way to allow for the longer stick which clips in very snug, overall very pleased with my purchase :). Took a bit of getting used to but had a game of team slayer and went 23-11 which is my best yet also had a 12-3 but the other team was garbage !!!

All Games with Gold starting November 2015 will be backwards compatible and can be played on the Xbox One.

The first 2 will be Dirt 3 and Dungeon Siege so with the 2 Xbox One games we can expect 4 games in November.

Todays update of the new dash has fixed my MTU 510 error, can now also test the multiplayer connection without an MTU error, MKV still doesn't stream without a stutter at the start from a wireless drive, work around fast forward a few seconds then rewind then it plays fine.

At last this latest update build 10586.1001 which was pushed today has appeared to have fixed my MKV stuttering issue at the start of trying to play one!!! I have been moaning about this since the first release! MTU is now reported as 1480 too.

HUGE update for the new dash this morning around 3GB!!!

Version number is now 10.0.10586.1005 (th2_xbox_rel_1510.151107-0003) fre

I have been told that the reason it was a 3GB update is i would have missed 1, so going by the number it looks like i missed 2, i last updated at 3PM on Friday so they're sure churning these updated out quick, especially over a weekend!

Yeah, MS has been updating it almost every day in the run up to the public release.

I don't have any problems with it now since they fixed my stuttering MKV streaming problem, i think it is awesome. :)

Don't get it at all, i did occasionally get it a few builds ago but after the builds last week it is all perfect.

It wasn't really lag for me it was more of a missed frame though.

Are you on the latest build?

Yes that's the latest, i take it you have reported your problem as that is the point of being on the preview?

Have you got another TV you can test it on, it could be some TV setting as it is 100% perfect on my TV? All settings 50% (all of them?) there is more than 1.

Do you know, I downloaded the update yesterday and it downloaded and installed quicker using WiFi connection than it ever did on an ethernet connection.

. The 50hz setting disabled itself during the last update. I've re enabled it, so that should help :)
