Being desperate to get somewhere that you know full well won't let you in because there're loads of hand wringers scared of your nationality, skin colour or religion etc means you're likely to do desperate things like throw away your documents but this in turn does not automatically mean you're in one of the groups the hand wringers seem so scared of, you're making me think about the episode of Young Sheldon where he's scared of catching the flu.

The most utter rubbish so far in this thread. Throwing away your documents because the country doesn't want to let you in?

Nobody without documents, except in obvious cases, should be allowed into the UK, let alone the European countries who have shuffled them along to Calais.

I'll remind you of the problems:

1 Albanian gangsters and crooks.

2 Potential Islamic terrorists (there is a track record).

3 The trafficking - criminality.

If you can't see why we have to keep these illegal immigrants out, then you need your head examining.

As you quoted, he stated "People who have deliberately thrown away their documents are a potential serious threat to the country."
You're assuming he meant all of them, he didnt actually say that. ;)

Judging by a couple of teenagers in our family, they seem to think that money will just roll in without them actually needing to do any work.

Yet he's advocating refusing access to anyone without documents, potential threat or not. Though I notice in his reply to my post the start of a good old Tory directional swerve.

Think you missed number 4, genuine people. Or is that option hidden away by changing your statement to now include an exception for people without documents in obvious cases.

Care to share what those obvious cases are because to date you've not really made it obvious what your exceptions to the no documents no entry rule would be?

They'd be the 'obvious exceptions' that anyone would reasonably be able to identify - even you.

Economic migrants via a legal route is fine. People fleeing from oppression is fine. People who have deliberately thrown away their documents are a potential serious threat to the country. If you do't see that then you need to do some re-evaluation.

Nah - my eyes are open and I smell the coffee.

Again you will never win . As long as they are not local to them people will say let them in:shocked:

But it’s fun fighting them as they become increasingly ridiculous.

So obvious you're not going to share. Don't ask me to justify your swerving comments, back them up with some information.

so obvious that it doesn’t need sharing any further. What’s not obvious about the Albanians who have no business smuggling themselves into there UK?

But of course, under the proposed new laws, even the "obvious exceptions" won’t be allowed to apply for asylum if they enter the country by methods being made illegal, and they can’t apply for asylum if they aren’t in the country, and if they get deported because they came in in small boats (because they can’t apply from outside the country), they will be deported and banned from applying for asylum…

All you seem to have is blue ink and rhetoric. You have no evidence to back up your views, just right wing tropes. What percentage of people claiming asylum are Albanian gangsters, ISIS agents and People Traffickers? Without evidence, you are just another Chicken Little.

Does it need to be a high percentage ?
A single person can blow up a bus, stab multiple people in the middle of London, or even bomb an arena, as the past sadly tells us.

Not at all. Your mind is stuck on ignoring what every one else can see. On TV, btw.

You might dislike the Tories; you do love the EU. But do you really want illegal migrants of the type I've described to come here from several safe countries on their route to Calais?

If so, you can't be sane. Sunak is following the right policy.
