I've bought lots of passes, for Entertainment and Movies, and so far!, never had a problem. It does also sometimes pay to buy direct from NOWTV, because usually if you cancel they offer you a great deal to stay, my Dad just got a three month of movies deals for £3.99 a month.

I do think Virgin has lost it's way with TV. I have kept my VM Broadband as it's flawless, but the TV, i downgraded to M Pack and kept TIVO to record, but at the end of this contract i'm ditching it completly.

Is there any risk in buying passes from third parties?

I'm thinking forgeries, expired passes etc.

Never had a problem myself i always check ebay feedback though for the seller before buying.

Just to let everyone know that the excellent UK/US tv news site TV Wise is back! :D:D  www.tvwise.co.uk

They list all the new premiers coming and its a really great site and was sorely missed over the last six months.

It's a shame a site like that can't combine with other tv related sites like this one to create a real powerhouse, commercial-less tv site. I loath with a passion the site that Digital Spy has become.... :sniper:

Got word about TV Wise returning about a month ago; I thought it was originally due to return in June; good that it's back sooner.

Quite agree about DS; I never use it now if I can avoid it.

Yep Digital Spy is certainly the pits in my opinion.

Six channels testing then, not just the two! Don't know what peeps are complaining about! Never had things so good. :D

Don't get too hyper, old chap!

How often are you likely to watch these channels if and when they are added?÷

Everyone needs to get a grip.

Now, Sky Atlantic would be something to write home about!

Will we get it? Fat chance, the way we're going. There really needs to be a fundamental reassessment of the packages offered by VM that puts us in a better position against Sky.

Is this how H2 HD came about?
I seem to remember the channel launching on all of Liberty Global's Cable Networks? Which might explain why the UK didn't get the other missing channels like History HD at the time?

Well, it would make sense as to why this anomaly exists ;)

I wonder if we'll still have to wait until carriage agreements expire before new channels are normally added?

Just noticed that channel 272 has been left vacant, so I think that there's a good chance that VM hope to get History HD at some point.

I'd guess the sellers would get bad reputation points if they did do that, so it'd be the case of sticking to sellers with high ratings.

Thanks for the advice :)

I've asked where they get these passes from in the streaming thread.

For channel choice, VM will never match Sky IMHO.

The only significant channel missing from Sky, is Atlantic, and that's been the case for the last five years.

Sky grabbed Showtime recently. Why didn't VM previously do a deal on that? You can't blame Sky for making deals whilst the pay TV opposition is showing no interest in content. Amazon and Netflix have taken the rights to other quality shows, on a show by show basis, or with smaller distributors.

Quite frankly, the situation as it currently is, works very well for me, giving me quality shows via Now TV, Prime and Netflix, coupled with a minimal Pay TV sub.

VM may have missed the boat for obtaining a significant amount of quality content.

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin Media TV (2016) Vol 2

.... they can still do deals as and when current ones expire. But I think the next battleground will be between Netflix/Amazon and establised pay tv companies such as HBO and Sky.

I was just reading an older article from 2011 stating that Netflix may well bid for some first run film rights when the current deals with Sky are up for renewal.. Netflix's boss wants to poach new film rights from one or two Hollywood studios and sees Sky as his biggest competition in the UK.
