Well we haven't spent the past two years increasing the channel capacity for two weeks broadcasting.

Seems fairly unambiguous to me....

Why don't you check with your 'high level'' contacts?

No way, he is very anal when it comes to Virgin Media and will say don't do it to be on the safe side. Then, if I do, and Pricedrop TV goes down, i'll get the blame :D

If you do some searching (some articles actually come up from this site), there is an argument that the t&c's do not prohibit what I am proposing. This is particularly true if it does not produce noise onto the network, which in itself is open to various opinions.

Besides, you wouldn't get any more regional channels than you do already. They are only broadcast in the regions where they are required.

It was in the December 2010 presentation to investors.
"We are providing 300 standard definition channels, 30 HD channels at the moment, but with a path to grow to 80 HD channels over the next two years, or three years."

There should be over 60 HD channels by the time the Olympics start.

I work late, so, if I did it, it would be done late at night when they are probably asleep.

IIRC someone tried this (or it might have been a chipped box) and found some different ITV regions (this might have possibly been in the analogue days).

I have also been told that the cable tuners in TV's and the system that VM use are not compatible, so it may not work anyway.

This isn't aimed at you bud.

Still to this day I don’t know why people hang on to this quote as some sort of guarantee from Virgin that 80 HD channels will be delivered within 3 years. There is nothing in the quote which says “We will deliver 80 HD channels” or “We plan to have 80 HD channels”. The quote simply suggests they have a path to grow to 80 HD channels, and nothing more than that. I don’t see that as any kind or promise, pledge or solid commitment.

If people are taking that as some for of guarantee, they better be ready to be disappointed. I don't think there will even be 80 HD channels broadcasting by December 2013.

Companies are like Politicians in that they depend on vague statements to make themselves sound good while not providing anything specific enough but the reality is that anybody can make this kind of statement without any fear of being caught in a lie.

In this case the bottom line is the one that counts. & that`s positive as I ever get. "Whats the bottom line" How you dress up the rest is just that, dressing don`t be fooled by it.

Perhaps its time for you to join the Sky advertising team as you seem to be a fine vehicle for advertising their products Mr Stokes.;)

What's happened to DF? Hopefully, the reason he's not been posting is because he is too busy with a new job...

Just off the back of that little exchange about advertising, I got a letter through today urging me to switch to cable, because apparently Virgin aren't aware that I'm already their customer. What struck me was that the leaflet included pictures of TV screens showing screen shots from shows on Sky channels. I can see why Virgin would want to make it clear that you can get Sky channels on cable, but not what advantage there is for Sky-yet surely they've okayed the use of these pictures?
