Hopefully that will happen with VM too - they seem to have a good relationship with BT

I think the original wording was along the lines of "available to BT Customers (with the full BT Sports pack) via the Sky EPG."

You don't have to be a 'Sky customer' to get BT Sport via the Sky platform - but you do have to be a 'BT Customer' to get BT Sport via Sky platform.

It also seems to must have opted for the full BT Sports pack on Sky.

Sky customers with BT Sport are 'BT Customers' too.

Those watching via VirginMedia are NOT 'BT customers'.

I hope it does come - but currently it is still promoted as being only available to 'BT customers'.

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2015)

Is it not true that by offering desirable sports channels to the XL package, VM attracts high numbers of sports fans giving VM better numbers to negotiate deals better deals for the non sports channels, if bt sports was in a sports package and all the sports fans dropped XL then then VM wouldn't be able to negotiate based on potential advertising revenue.

I agree with you. VM has said that BT Sport Europe is coming but has not mentioned that AMC is coming. Hopefully BT will stretch the definition of customer.

Yes, and also to probably stop lots of emails to them which all cost time and money to answer.

We have started to think the same way (If they are not new channels).

We was only thinking of new channels due to TLC HD being on top of the first V0-- Channel when it was testing up until last Friday.

They was testing like:

-TLC HD
-V0--
-V0--
-V0--

But yet it's on nowtv ok it's owned by Sky but they claim nowtv is seperate from Sky, plus i think vm customers may be in for a nice surprise within the next 5 months.

The other nice surprise which i mentioned awhile back for next month is... Historyhd is rumoured to be launching on the 14th july on vm in time for Black sails.

As for those who don't appreciate my information you know who you are to hell with you i will keep posting any rumours i get as i will not let you ruin it for others.

It's not Netflix (or YouTube, TiVo iPlayer, or other OTT services). It's all the "normal" VOD. The network is segmented so only streams that people are watching in your local area are listed.

I have 3 NOW TV SKY Sports day passes to give away for free. Only catch is they need to be redeemed before midnight tonight! I've had them for ages, and only noticed earlier that they are about to run out. Once redeemed through the NOW TV website, you have a full year to use them.

There's not catch, no BS, I'm just looking to give them away to 3 people who will genuinely use them. The first 3 people to direct message me will get them. Remember they must be redeemed in the next 90 mins!

I'd rather give them away than see them go to waste. I'd been sitting on them for nearly a year. Noticed the small print which stated they had to be redeemed by 30th June 2015, hence the last minute give away.

They've went to good homes :D

Wow, haha.

I love a good rumour as much as anyone, but from your position you must have been seeing posts saying "Look at all these channels being tested" and thinking "Nope, nope, nope" every single time a V0 number was quoted as evidence of this.

I guess as with other rumours is to never believe anything until you see it.

BBC3 set to go online only as trust backs plans to scrap TV channel

BBC Trust back BBC plans to close BBC Three.

-BBC Three and BBC Three HD is now set to close in January 2016.
-BBC Trust rejected another proposal to launch a new BBC1+1 channel in place of BBC3 because of its likely impact on commercial rivals including ITV and Channel 5.

Any info on BBC 1 regional news going to be in HD?

Surely it would be better for BT to get a guareenteed amount for their product by being in the XL pack. I will certainly not be paying extra for BT Europe and I imagine a lot of other people would feel the same.

Nothings been decided yet about BT Sport Europe but BT may yet see that they`l get more money from Virgin by allowing it to be included in the XL package. For all we know the deal may of been done but BT have insisted Virgin keep quiet until August so as not to spoil their current campaign.
Re the weather,it`s extremely hot here in Middlesbrough and I`m loving every minute of it!

Under the current deal Virgin pay BT £75 million pounds per year to carry their channels. If the new channel is to be included in XL Virgin will need to renegotiate the deal. How much will BT be looking for? £85 million per year? £100 million per year? That's crazy money.

Virgin, in my humble opinion, would be better dropping BT Sports from XL and reinvesting some of the money saved in beefing XL up in other areas i.e SKY Atlantic, all missing HD channels, Netflix included in XL and the likes of Premier Sports and Boxnation for the sports fans. That for me would make XL a much better rounded package making if much more attractive to a wider spectrum of customers.

I can understand where you are coming from, Chad, but VM appear to be basing their USP on the value of their sports package. This is probably a wise commercial decision.

While I would welcome the addition of Sky Atlantic to the XL pack, I think it is more likely that they will add the Now TV streaming service.

SA will come via Now TV on the TiVo streaming service.

Not that good value for us as we get most of the channels anyway, but I think that this is the only solution available for us now.

No it really won't , why would VM allow Sky to pick up direct customers when VM are already selling the likes of Sky One , Sky Living and Sky Arts in their own packages.

The customer relationship with Now TV is direct with Sky so never going to happen in my opinion.

Why do you say that, Den? Sky would be laughing all the way to the bank! It's already available on smart TVs and on TV streaming sticks such as Roku. It's now the only way we are likely to get SA on VM, given the commercial decisions that they have made to date.

Nowtv is never going to be on this generation of tivo, tivo struggles with netflix so nowtv would be useless on it.

Nowtv isn't even on Samsung smart tvs and they are one of the most popular and biggest brands so chances of it being on tivo are zilch at the moment.

Imho football has ruined pay tv the money spent on it is ridicolous.
But people want the football, companies pay stupid money for it and the consumer suffers as a result, then you get those wanting everything for nothing.

To put this in a simple way vm already carry the channels available on nowtv (except for sky atlantic), it just would make any sense business wise for vm to have nowtv on their tivo.

Had you said the BBC I-Player, I'd have agreed with you. The constant buffering is really annoying.

However the TiVo seems to cope perfectly with Netflix (at least on my box) although it does take about a minute to load initially. Once in, however, it is fine.

ITV Encore and he Sky box sets are on there as well.

VM don't have to pay anything if they just present Now TV as a subscription based service.

Most of the channels on Now TV are available to VM customers in its various TV packages as is the Sky catch up why would VM want you to have access to this content cheaper and with their customer having a direct relationship with Sky.

so virgin media have created a job title and role they never had before ie had survived on without before....without playing devils advocate vm are now probably paying 300k a year for this bloke. it had survived ten years + without a "Chief Digital Entertainment Officer" before.

Seems to be an ongoing thing at the moment. companies cut jobs, hike up bills but then create these phantom jobs which hadnt existed before on huge, huge wages. its illogical.

But if vm can give me bt sport europe in xl ill hero worship them again like the massive handsome hypocrite i am

They're also on LG Bluray players, but the Amazon app won't do 5.1 audio.

If streaming is all you want, then personally I don't think you can beat an Amazon Fire TV/ Now TV box combo. The Now TV Box has all the UK main channel catchup services, and the Amazon Fire TV can have Kodi added for streaming any ripped DVDs.
