No it was pretty cheap Den. Not even worth sending back. I'll be able to modify it without too much difficulty. Gives me something to do over the weekend to keep me out of mischief.

I'm finally suffering. Been told for years that because my knuckles crack I'll end up with arthritis, and this week my right index finger has been very stiff, especially on one knuckle.

My aunt went for home dialysis but found it very hard to keep up the cleaning regime.

In the end she found it happier to be amongst others for a chat during dialysis in the local hospital.

Got to experience the new A&E at the new Queen Elizabeth hospital in Glasgow yesterday after deciding to examine the ground at great speed during a run.

An hour of having a wound scrubbed to remove grit and six stitches later I've decided it's Ok but I wouldn't want to rush back.

nashville 13-04-2016 12:18

Re: Moans and Pet Hates part 8

This hospital has received a lot of bad reports, a friend was admitted with cancer in the lung, one nurse came in the room and put a cavertar in She told them she was not in here for her waterworks , Two hours later another nurse came in and said " Who put that in, this is not for you, Another old man fell in a home was taken in with severe pain, they took 3 days to give him a scan and his pelvis was broken in 3 places, The hospital is too big and not enough staff, I wish they would have kept the Old Victoria opened and just modernised it, Seemingly trying to park your car near the main entrance is a nightmare,

Derek 13-04-2016 13:26

Re: Moans and Pet Hates part 8

Can't fault A&E but I do think building a huge hospital to replace a bunch of others was a poor idea and the issues with parking and traffic were going to be an obvious problem.

denphone 13-04-2016 13:38

Re: Moans and Pet Hates part 8

We did exactly the same down here building a big hospital to replace 5 smaller ones and its utterly chaotic throughout most of the day with serious traffic and parking problems and its sadly going to get even worse one suspects.

Hugh 13-04-2016 14:53

Re: Moans and Pet Hates part 8

I think it's done because of economies of scale - it's more cost effective to run 1 large hospital than 5 small ones, and it also allow a wider range, and larger number, of specialists in one place.

The latest Windows 10 update has killed my PC, just get a black screen and flashing cursor, can't even get to any recovery options.

Stupid me didn't have any recovery options like a DVD or bootable memory stick so I am currently stuffed!

My only option is to try and make a bootable memory stick from an old laptop which hasn't been switched on in 12 months, but that is a job for the morning before work.

Are you on an Insider Build? Make sure that you don't have a gaming controller plugged in as one of the previous builds had an issue where it wouldn't work at all (A black flashing screen) if you had a XInput device plugged in. It resolved and works fine once removed.

I came off that when it reached RTM, so creating the media now via the laptop hopefully that will either let me do a repair or reinstall and hopefully my SDD hasn't gone pear shaped.

Ah, hopefully you can rescue things. Windows 10 seems to have worse disaster management than older versions. The ability to get straight into Windows Repair (Which does kick in without needing media to do so but only if a boot fails entirely) would be nice.

http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/boot-windows-10-safe-mode/

I know you can't do it now, but look at Method Two at this link. You can re-enable the ability to hit F8 upon boot to get into the startup menu, saving the need in future to get another USB disk etc to boot in situations like this.

Managed to recover it using the media stick and doing a repair which took seconds, wouldn't have been possible without the old laptop to create the installation/repair media, always have recovery media folks and don't do what i did!

'Product Registration' - which most companies make you think it's essential to do, if you buy one of their appliances. Absolutely no need, as long as you keep proof of purchase, that is your guarantee in the event of breakdown.

No matter what brand of appliance you bought all these 'registrations' are directed to one company, Domestic and General, whose only business is selling extended guarantees. They also collect marketing details for selling to others.

I play 8 ball pool sometimes on my mobile or tablet and what really grinds my gears is the annoying people who need to add (Hehe) as they a about to pot the black and win the game, although sometimes they can make a fool of themselves and pot the white so therefore lose the game I must admit that I'm tempted to put nice short when that happens but never do.

Double Ouch den, our car cost quite a few hundred last year to fix some problems and thankfully this year it sailed through it's MOT.
Hopefully that will be your experience fingers crossed.

That does not look nice when read let me explain what I meant :) hopefully the money spent this year will pay off next year den. There I feel better now :) just needed to add that den.

Yes sadly when cars are older the expense becomes a bit more but as you say its better to do it now and hopefully because of that there will be less cost the following year.

The thieving pikey *******s who tried to nick my bike 3am on Thursday.

Thatcham Cat1 approved chain, lock & ground anchor, a disk lock alarm and two dogs put them off. Unfortunately by the time i got downstairs and got the front door open they were long gone.

Since invested in two new Almax chains and locks, an Almax ground anchor. Motorola external WiFi camera. Bike moved to a safe location for a few weeks.

I've seen a slide/fold out garage that mounts to the wall when being used and can store all the biker stuff.

Just had 2 sonic booms over the house - according to FB and Twitter, they've been heard in Doncaster, Harrogate, and all points between.

We thought there had been explosions locally, as the windows all rattled and the house shook - everyone on the street came out to see what was happening.

Apparently it was the QRA Typhoons from RAF Coningsby - probably gone to say hello to a sneaky Ivan...

Update - they went to intercept a Paris to Newcastle flight that went off course.

Sorry to hear this Dilli, I don't think many people would put up with all you've been through without having a damned good moan about it and worse. It's easy to get bogged down with relatively trivial issues/problems and maybe lose sight of the fact that many people have things far harder and don't give up. Have some marmite matey! ;)

Yes l remember going to our local hospital about a year ago with my partner and our friend and they had to put three cannula's into my hand as they could not get a approapiate vein and our friend was close to nearly fainting while it was all happening so yes its certainly not very nice dilli.:eeek::Yikes:

Not really a moan or pet hate but more of what can I do to when I see a loved one grieve and the answer is nothing, I don't think I have ever felt so helpless in my life.

I wish I had a magic wand to remove the pain and heartache they are feeling atm.

It's hurting me seeing them hurt so much.

Although painful to watch, the grieving is a vital part of the healing process following bereavement. The best thing is just to be there as and when they need you. :tu:

It is a painful thing to greave for someone. The hurt is unbearable, but we can only carry on and wait for the pain to ease off, You just have to be there beside them to help, I was in a terrible black place when I lost my Gran, who brought me up, I played sad music all day when the family was out at work. It helped me get through the day, You never get over the loss, but you can start to think of the happy times as well as the sad, That was 1977 I still cry for her,

FGW time keeping. Late into Westbury from Exeter today by 5 minutes. Had the linking connection been on time I would have missed it. Didn't help that the announcement on the train specified the wrong platform for the service.

Luckily (?) the connected service was late by 15 minutes but the platform mixup antics on other services were quite sublime.:D

They need to take some lessons from Southern region: Clean roomy electric trains arriving on the split second. And decent announcement and messaging systems. I guess we're just spoilt. :)

As those on the union left would have back: Dirty stinking slam door trains, fictional time tables and bolshie couldn't care less staff on strike at every opportunity.

It's not..

When I started my current job, one of my then colleagues actually told me the only reason the Uni could afford to employ me is that his colleague had died of cancer a few weeks before I started. I felt awful, as I knew the guy as a student and he was a nice man. I talked to my then boss and he assured me that was not the case.

Anyway, The Daddy, it can be horrible losing a colleague as they can often be friends as well as work colleagues. I hope you feel better soon.

I was a rolling temp as the guy whose job it was was having cancer treatment.

He was very good friends with the QM, who I'm sure does resent me working there.

Google Chrome.

I opt out of its 'targeted advertising' based on my browsing, however it's incredibly regular updates always opt me back in again. I'm sure that's the only reason for it 'updating' so regularly.

And another one (i'm on a roll tonight !). Virgin Media webmail - it's so poor and frequently inaccessible - can't be that complicated a function to deliver.

Yes l have to agree with you on the second one Mr K as its Webmail looks like its been produced on a shoestring and made by amateurs.

Not used my ISP webmail in donkeys years, I would say it is best not to tie your email to one's ISP as these can change.

My retinopathy screening result came back, I have the start of it in my eyes. As you can imagine I'm not calm about it. Might see if I can get the images and go to Moorfields.

Got locked in the spare bedroom as the door latch would spring back, luckily i had a tool box in front of me so was able to prize it open!

So it is off to Homebase in the morning to replace atleast 3 door latches in my house as those are also very dodgy!

TV Programmes aimed for the UK, yet they insist on using Kilometres & Euros.

2 units which mean nothing to me, plus the later changers constantly.

My company is being ISO audited, every I & T has to be dotted & crossed.

Its a right pain in the ass, as they go through every procedure with a fine tooth comb.

They asked if the company had a procedure/policy in-case our syndicate wins the lottery, they haven't, that was a mark against us.

As was the lack of KPIs, which are virtually impossible for us to do, but they don't see it.

It's almost as bad as "Six Sigma"

How much of a chance do the council give people, The house has had the Pest Control out 4 times within a year, She keeps black bags full of Rubbish in the house council had to come and take them away. Her children have not been allowed to stay there till the house is clean, the children are never at school. They have been given new furniture three times as they break everything, Children have been running wild destroying and leaving Rubbish about, She has a partner who has a house of his own but lives there and works seven days a week. Police and social services are never away from the door, She now not has been seen for a week , so she now has 28 days to come back and get her house in order or she will be evicted, The family are above my house and our house and the rest are all bought houses, I pray she stays away, We are going to see a councillor this Monday for advice, I think I mentioned this family before to you. They are a gypsy family

Saw my grandfather today for first time since last summer, and I am shocked how much he has changed. He now looks even older than the 79 he is, and to be honest I'll be stunned if he makes his 80th this November. He might be a selfish cantankerous old git but it is sad to see a man who was fighting fit just 10 years ago go so downhill health wise.
