MB this is what can safely be described as your thread and in just 45 days it's had over 2,900 posts and 308,999 views. What he said. :tu:

Rumours are what drive the thread MB.

Don't change because some argumentative gits can't distinguish between rumour and fact. If they don't like the rumours or your grammar ( or lack of ;)) then let them move on.

Quite frankly i couldn't give a toss about the people who can't seperate rumours from fact.

I've just seen a message from my insiders that Virgin are set to launch News 18 this week as planned and will be including Netflix with those who sign up to their new XXL Pack which is the same as the XL Pack but with Netflix. All rumours at the moment though, I'm sure TheOne, MB or Howard will be able to confirm these.

Of course, the price differential between XL and XXL would have to be less than £5.99 to make it worthwhile.

It will be n the reformed XL pack. Not to start with but it will be included once VM have completed the moving of channels to other packs such as nat geo wild moving into the L pack , true movies moving to M+ pack. As i mentioned in the last thread XL will become VMs version of Skys HD pack but will have BT Sport too. VM staff will be briefed in due time.
This is all rumours and not actuall fact at this moment.
How do i know all of this you ask? Maybe just maybe one of my sources is very high up in LG ;) or claims they are anyway.

Virgin Media TiVo customers on other packages will be able to make the most of the one-month free trial offered to all new Netflix members."

But the small print reads:

Doesn't make it self clear you could be right but the why would virgin give two fingers to vip and premier packs. I hope they don't do that because that would be very sad and make me cry

nialli 12-11-2013 11:55

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2013) Vol. 5.

I don't know any more details than I got in the VM press release. Maybe Ben or Spiderplant can comment? I'm already a Netflix subscriber, so not sure when I should cancel my direct sub and replace with a VM one - no idea how this will work. With Spotify I started a new VM Premier account and cancelled the old, I guess I could do the same with VM but it would be nice to retain my customer profile and selections with the VM account.
Picture quality btw should be stunning :)

Been using Netflix on TiVo for the past few weeks (since the testing began) and have been very impressed with the HD quality. Makes up for on demand's limited HD selection but of course you have to pay for this.

and the extra good news is that Lilyhammer, season 2. starts on Dec 13.

I wasn't actually expecting any channels to launch during the Netflix rollout either. I'm a little cautious about this piece of news, but if you're right, theone, this is looking very good indeed!

I really don't see why that's such a big issue.

VM are a business, so aren't doing six months free for no reason. It's there to gain or retain customers - so in return they will want some guarantee that it's doing that.

I agree, Ben. Competition is fierce and you can't blame Virgin Media for attempting to lock people in.

If people want the freedom to hop about between suppliers, they are going to have to weigh up the cost/benefits of doing so!

I don't think so, Dave, you just have to sign up to the pack that is best for you.

But the small print reads:

As far as I understand, yes. If you do have any problems though, do post here though.

Does anyone know when this offer for Netflix ends? I was thinking about coming back to Virgin at the end of December / beginning of January. Half price for 6 months plus free Netflix is very appealing to me.

Customer services told me today that you can apply for the Netflix six month offer until 31/12/2013. Also confirmed that you will be taking a new 12 month contract for your virginmedia services if you take the Netflix offer.

So it'll be a new 12 month deal if you want Netflix. A new 12 month deal if you want the new BB speeds next year. This could be locking some people in for 2 years.

I am tempted by both to be honest, but I also want to know what VM are doing with Sony and the PS4 before I extend anything.

I don't think it is. If you're a long term VIP customer, then if you sign a new 12 months contract, without the need to make any changes to your services, you'll get it. That's how I read it.

Do VM do anything with Sony and the PS3 just now??

where did it say that we had to have a new 12 month contract to get the new speeds I thought they were "doubling" speeds at no additional cost or is this above and beyond that i.e. next phase?

If you read the text in full, it does state that this is an "opt in" service for the upgrade, and by opting in, you are committing for an extra years contract.

Assume if you don't opt in, you don't renew your contract, but the speed is not increased

That's the choice you have to make. Personally, I think the speeds are quite good enough for my use of broadband, so I won't be going for it. I will certainly go for Netflix, though.

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2013) Vol. 5.

What about long term customers who aren't technically on the bundles but have the equivalent or more? Are they entitled to the 6 months free Netflix?

I'm on:

T V Size: X L
Broadband XL (Up To 60mb)
Phone XL (Talk Unlimited)
Talk 08 2
2 Tivo boxes

Bill shows
Triple Combo Loyalty Discount
TiVo Monthly Fee.

For existing Netflix users, with the 6 months discount, do you still continue to pay Netflix in the same way as previously and after applying the code, Netflix just don't bill you or 6 months?

Thanks

I used to think my download speed was good, but with growing children in the house, streaming items in laptops and ipads, internet radio's etc, it will mean more capacity for me to do the things I want without stopping them

That's a Customer Relations offer, so you can't get the 6 month Netflix offer with those - you'd have to move to the Premier Collection to get the Netflix offer

MGM not coming Thursday my source got the dates mixed up sorry guys. Just can't get the bloody staff these days.
It is coming though most likely with the Sky channels when they arrive.

Is that a confirmation though from your source that both MGMHD and Sky Atlantic are definitely arriving "soon"?

Do VM do anything with Sony and the PS3 just now??

They do nothing with the PS3, just back in August they announced some kind of partnership between the two companies. Probably ending up in a specific gaming orientated broadband deal. Although if they are increasing the limits in 2014, then I can't see a "Gaming Only" broadband deal coming out specifically for the PS4 release.

Also I would hope that for those long term customers that are on collections equivalent packages that they would be able to do a deal to move onto Premiere or VIP. I think they'd be happy to sort something out to tie people into a 12 month contract.

Thanks Ben.

The Premier collection isn't as good as my current bundle though as it doesn't have two Tivo boxes, XL phone or Talk 08 2.

Talk 08 2 was a free add on from VM that they offered me out of the blue via email.

Thanks Ben, though I have just seen the bit about loyalty discounts so it wouldn't be worth me while signing up for the trial anyway

I'm in the same boat as you. I'm not about to give up my goodies just for 6 months Netflix. If I could keep my goodies then goodie :p:
