agreed. I employ six people, who all do manual work, and I respect every single one of them, and would not ask anyone to do a job that I would not do myself.

Got a response to my bt sports query on Facebook.

You can leave your contract any time Howard, but if you still have time left then there will be an early disconnection fee. Sadly some channels do close, such as ESPN, but we work hard to ensure that new channels are added to your package. Recently we've had BET (channel 184), MTV HD (183), MTV Music (310) and Nick HD (714) added to our packages. As soon as we have any news on BT Sport, you'll know. Melissa.

So all those crap channels added recently are what I expected all along to say we brought you all these since the beginning of the year yeh not:(

At the end of the day VM have not announced anything so everything we are all saying is pure speculation. In my opinion news about BT Sport etc will be tied up with Liberty Global's sale figures tomorrow morning; please remember that BT Sport does not launch until 6pm tomorrow afternoon.

Been lurking and had to join the action, had fun reading some of the posts on here for the last week or so. Hoping for a positive announcement regarding BT today for us Virgin subscribers. I'm an avid football and US sports fan but refuse to pay an extra £12 a month for a standalone subscription, would like to see it included in the VIP package.

Personally I love all the rumours - the wackier the better I say! It's just a bit of fun........ Until Virgin tell us they couldn't reach an agreement and then it's time to open a can of whoop-a##!

UPC will be treated different to VM I imagine. As far as I understand you can't get the regular BT broadband services in the ROI, so UPC would not be seen as a competitor (unless the liberty global/VM connection comes into play)

Currently BT Sports is being offered in ROI as part of the Setanta sports pack

Seen this before but have horrible feeling that this is what VM customers can expect too, I'm thinking we won't see the BT Sports channels tomorrow but will by the 17th Aug when the premiership starts.

Contractually I'm not sure of the position with ESPN, maybe VM have a claim as I know contracts do often carry over when the ownership changes.

OK! I've just gone through and edited out a certain word that I pointed is swearing in any form earlier in this thread.I would not have had to do so much editing if people had refrained from quoting and repeating it.

Last warning. The next person to use it will find me using the frack hammer against them.

Another point could we keep to the topic of Coming Soon to Virgin TV and avoid discussion of football clubs and other topics that have nothing to do with VM TV.

Looking increasingly unlikely that we will hear anything from VM today, or tomorrow. Start of EPL on 17/8 will be key. Pure speculation of course, but have a feeling we won't have any news until around 15/8. Hope I'm wrong.

Just tweeted a few minutes ago by The Guardians chiefs sports writer:

@owen_g: BT confirm they've yet to do a deal with Virgin Media to carry BT Sport: "We are open to doing it at the right price and talks continue".

Getting the feeling we might be waiting a couple of weeks yet. Premier league starts August 17th...

Once again, Virgin want something for nothing or next to nothing.

No Atlantic
No BT Sport
And importantly no reduction in cost of the XL Package. They are utterly hopeless in Business, want it all for nothing and won't hear of taking a hit on their own profits!

I've maintained someone (From Liberty maybe) needs to go into the company and clear out the dead wood.

All the channels we have in XL are not something for nothing.

There never was or will be a reduction in price for the loss of channels that are beyond the control of VM. Having ESPN was down to a deal with them. If BT won't play ball (!) then you cannot expect VM to reduce their price especially as this has been one of the best years for new channels ever whether they are your favourites or not.

It is the people who want the price reduction who expect something for nothing imo and it really is not going to happen.

Virgin getting Sesame Street could be quite significant if they can get other shows which have not been aired in UK which is the case with recent Sesame Street episodes

No, it needs to stay balanced - if you're on XL and we lose the Sky Channels in another spat, what would you do? Continue to pay premium price for non premium content?

I don't think that they are useless at business. If they paid what Sky and BT asked for just to keep some of their customers happy, they would be out of business in 5 minutes. You would soon be moaning if the price went up just to get the few channels that you want. There is no proof what so ever that Virgin media are trying to get them on the cheap, they have to think what is best for their customers as a whole not just the ones that want certain channels. I am sure they will get it once they feel the deal they are being offered is fair and best for the customers.

That's a little harsh in my opinion , Sky who have plenty of leverage with its wide range of channels haven't managed to negotiate a wholesale deal with BT its only available on their platform due to the fact its an open one and any channel can join. Who's the company which has complained and complained to OFCOM about Sky Sports availability/pricing and yet the only way you can obtain their sports channel is through them and not on every platform.

Of course they'll put out statements like that! They want to increase pressure on VM to get a better deal for themselves. But BT sport need VM subs!
