It is the installing that is the problem, if you go into the X1 network settings it tells you the download speed, still not great but it should be way more than 8mbit.

Xbox One Elite Bundle

http://news.xbox.com/2015/08/xbox-one-elite-bundle

http://majornelson.com/2015/08/31/ne...ss-controller/

http://www.xbox.com/en-US/xbox-one/c...te-bundle/home

Xbox One + 1TB Solid State Hybrid Drive + Elite Wireless Controller.

Launches in November for $499. No UK price yet, but the US price is the same as the 1TB Halo 5 bundle, which is £399 in the UK.

Given that you get a 1TB SSHD rather than a 1TB HDD, *and* you get an Elite controller (which itself is over £100 on its own), that's actually a pretty good price.

I was going to get the Elite controller anyway, and had been considering getting a new console, so I think I will probably just get this.

Re: The Xbox One Thread

Please can anyone help me. I recently went from PS3 to owning the Xbox One and the performance of Netflix seems poor in comparison. It almost looks like it's a lower frame rate and judders during streams.

My Samsung plasma TV is outputting the picture at 1080P at 60hz.

I'm very fussy about picture quality and a little disappointed. Playing games on the Xbox One the picture quality is amazing in my opinion.

I did a bit of googling to get a resolution and noticed when the machine first released there were problems and many people say they were ironed out.

Please any suggestions would help. I'm a Virgin Media customer on the 152Mb service and use 5G wifi connection on the SU2.

SnoopZ 05-09-2015 09:09

Re: The Xbox One Thread

In the Xbox options there is a setting to make everything TV related to 50hz otherwise the picture would judder when watching broadcast TV, i guess this maybe the issue with netflix but not sure.

This option is already ticked in the display settings. Thank you for the suggestion though

I have run out of ideas, can you try wired to see if the problem goes away as i dont have any issue streaming wireless on 5ghz with netflix although the xbox is only about 10 feet from my SH2.

I will check after work whether my TV reports as 60hz or 50hz when using Netflix and report back unless someone beats me to it.

Another thing you can try is a hard reset, hold the power button on the console for 10 secs to force a full boot and also try different wireless channels in the SH settings.

alexcopeland 05-09-2015 14:39

Re: The Xbox One Thread

I tried the wired connection to no avail. Really odd as Netflix worked great on the PS3. I've done a full reboot and run the network test in the Netflix options. Funny how my wife doesn't see it but I do. I feel it has some thing to do with the display being 1080P @ 60Hz but there's no option to change this as I'd like to try 1080P @ 50Hz.

Just done some tests on mine, and although mine doesn't display when it is in 50-60hz i can tell when it is switching from one to the other based on the 1080p HDMI message popping up.

So based on my results below and the fact that you get the same wired which rules out wireless i conclude that either your TV has an issue with 1080p 60hz or there is an issue with your broadband not being as stable as it should be.

My:
Netflix is displayed at 60hz 1080p
Xbox menu and games run at 60hz 1080p
TV broadcast is displayed at 50hz 1080p

Just had a thought though, look in your TV settings for things like motion flow and have a play, failing that borrow another TV or even another HDMI cable.

I've recalibrated the whole picture displaying settings for both the Xbox One and my TV and it's improved it well. Sitting in front of my TV starring at it for what felt like hours adjusting and tweaking. It's seems nicer on the eye now.

I've never had a problem with my TV picture calibration luckily, just a case of plugged it in and switch on if I remember correctly, what problems did you have?

alexcopeland 11-09-2015 06:37

Re: The Xbox One Thread

One thing I'd advise to double check is whether your TV supports the higher deep colour modes. Simply selecting the highest value doesn't always give the best results. Secondly, most of my TVs processing gave a poorer picture and by turning of a majority of settings for dynamic contrasting and edge enhancing made the picture better. Finally tweaking the c olour, hue, brightness and contrast for around an hour did the trick.

I have just had an email from MS regarding the New preview!

You have to OPT IN if you hope to get it and they will roll it out in waves.

Be warned guys this is VERY broken, so read up on what games and Apps don't work before taking the plunge.

I did Opt In but after reading the below i may Opt Out again!

http://www.windowscentral.com/heres-...rience-preview

Quote:

Games and Apps: The following are known issues with specific titles on the initial New Xbox One Experience updates.

Games Failing to Launch: The following games may fail to launch:

Guacamelee: SCTE
Unmechanical
Elite: Dangerous
Pool Nation FX
D4: Dark Dreams Don't Die
Xbox Fitness
Skylanders
Destiny: The Taken King
Game Compilation Discs (ex. Borderlands: The Handsome Collection, Saints Row IV).
Forza 6: You may encounter graphical errors (screen turns a blue or purple hue) when participating in races

Assassin's Creed Unity: Installing Assassin's Creed Unity DLC while the game is open will cause it to crash when the DLC finishes downloading.

Elder Scrolls Online: Logging in to an existing character will cause an error indicating you do not have network connectivity and prevent you from connecting to the server.

Titles with DLC installation issues: You will be unable to install DLC from game collection as no manage UI is present. Simply download the DLC and bundled title from the Store.

Apps Failing to Launch: The following apps may fail to launch:

ABC News
VUDU
SlingTV
WWE
Showtime Anytime
Every Street United
BlinkBox
TWC TV
Apps with video issues: The following apps will launch but videos or streams will not play. - SyFy - USA Now - BravoNow - TED - MLB

General System Issues

System Update Errors: If you encounter an update error screen while downloading a system update and the console freezes, please wait 3 minutes before rebooting the console to ensure crash data is captured. Crash data is submitted automatically; no action required on your part.

Party Chat: When entering connected standby with a party chat session open, after resuming from connected standby party chat may no longer function. Workaround: Hard reset the console.

Xbox Button: While holding down a button on the controller or plugging in a racing wheel and pressing the Xbox button, the power menu may pop up after which the Xbox button will fail to recognize input. Workaround: Hard reset the console.

Automatic Downloads: Content purchased from Xbox.com will not automatically download to the Xbox One console. This feature is planned to come later.

Browser: You will be unable to use voice commands in the browser; using voice commands in the browser will likely cause the console to hang and require a hard reset to resolve the issue.

My games & apps: After downloading a system update My games & apps may fail to populate. Workaround: Hard reset the console.

Games stuck in the queue: You may find games are unexpectedly remaining in the download queue.

Notifications: Friends do not receive game toast notifications.

Live TV: The following issues affect the Live TV experience:

Cable/Satellite set top box compatibility is not yet at parity with the current Xbox One experience. Please continue to report video playback and audio issues using the Report a problem app to help us improve the experience. HDMI troubleshooting steps:

Go Home and press the menu button on the OneGuide app to quit, then restart it.
Unplug and re-plug the HDMI-in cable from the Xbox, ensuring it's seated securely in the port.
With the Xbox One turned on, pull the power cord on the cable/satellite box, wait a few seconds, and plug it back in.
Press and hold the power button on the front of the Xbox One to perform a hard reboot of the console.
Dolby Digital surround sound will not work for Live TV.

App channels cannot be set as a Favorite.

The "Xbox Snap TV" voice command does not work. You can snap TV via voice command by saying "Xbox Snap OneGuide" or choosing OneGuide from the Snap Center.

The OneGuide pin doesn't function. You can launch OneGuide using the app, voice commands, or from the OneGuide twist.

You may experience a stuck frame streaming TV to the Xbox App. You can enter OneGuide or resize your window to restore video playback.

The media transport controls do not work when streaming TV to SmartGlass and Xbox app clients.

When resuming from connected standby the Xbox One media remote may fail to send commands; a hard reset resolves this.

Community Twist

Currently this area is not fully populated with content and is missing large sections of the user experience. Activity feed content also may not be actionable and items on the trending items second level screen have not been fully tuned. As Preview moves forward content and features in this area will light up.

Xbox App/Smartglass

SmartGlass and Xbox App Live TV/OneGuide: You may experience issues connecting to Live TV or OneGuide when connecting to the console with SmartGlass. Workaround: Set your SmartGlass connection to auto connect, quit the app, and restart. If the issue persists, hard reset the console.

Basic SmartGlass functionality is now available including gamepad navigation, touch navigation, remote text entry, media playback control, and companions for apps and games. Other features such as two-finger touch panning, media companions, and power on/off will not function in this build.

Accessories

Xbox One Media Remote:

When resuming from connected standby the Xbox One media remote may fail to send commands; a hard reset resolves this.

The buttons for media playback will not work (rewind, play, pause, fast forward, skip back, stop, skip forward). The directional and center "select" button will function as normal.

USB TV Tuner: If you have a USB TV Tuner plugged into your Threshold Xbox One console, Windows and Windows Phone SmartGlass devices will crash when attempting to connect to the console. To avoid this, you can switch to the Xbox App on Windows 10 or reset your TV settings and avoid setting up the USB TV Tuner.

Third Party Steering Wheels: Using a third party steering wheel will work in games, however, it may cause instability to the console after attempting to use the Xbox button to return to the dashboard. Workaround: Hard reset the console.

Well I never really use apps and mostly play games and none of the games I play a lot are on that list so I am going to opt in.

Most of those issues will be fixed before long I am sure.

My MGS save game started to get corrupted. Was getting 'unable to create save game. Please exit and delete save game'

Thankfully found that if I put in offline mode and hard reset, change the date and load the game it works fine. Hopefully it will still be fine when I try it online again.

Think it took about 20mins or so to update after it had downloaded.

Got signin to work by doing a hard reset(holding power button down for several seconds) then it signed in.

I will test the following again to see how it works the next time but for now.

What works
1. I needed to enter my wireless password after the update.
2. Elite Dangerous tested once and loaded and plays fine.
3. Call of Duty Advance Warfare loaded and played fine.
4. TV works the same as before no stutter.

What is NOT working
Having serious issues playing MKV content through the media player, it stutters like crazy but an MP4 movie played fine, and i can only try and watch those 2 as they're the only content appearing on Media player, will investigate further! Really not happy about this as it is a nail in the coffin if i can't get that to work on this update, not even sure if it is a known issue.

Actually thinking of restoring the old OS on my Xbox, too many problems!

Just had wireless not working and it told me to send the xbox in for repair! Got it working again after browsing for a fix.

As for TMS media player!!!! it is now saying i need to allow access to the folders, no idea how to do that as it looks like everything already has access, just rebooting the server and then i expect it still won't work or the MKVs still won't play.

I recommend anyone that is thinking of signing up for this to not do so at this stage and avoid like the plague.

Surely they'll have to fix all these issues pretty quickly?

If it is next month it will be a disaster, i hope it isn't for a long time.

I have managed to get some access to my media folders on the TMS server by messing with the server settings, not really sure what i did though, and i appear to be able to play a fair few MKV files smoothly but there is also loads that won't play and they all played fine before!

Yes it is next month the roll out and i am shocked with the short time frame and all the problems, this maybe the Xbox One problems all over again just like when it was released.

Never really used the One Guide on the old OS but i am loving how quickly and graphically it is to see what is on and flip through channels, this may make me look again at ditching regular TV.

I had to switch the language to US English :grind:

I also seem to have lost just shy of 20Gb of space since it installed. Is the updated OS REALLY that large?

Why did you have to switch to the US?

No idea how much space mine used up as i also have a 2TB external drive.

Menu was all gobbledygook, letters had been replaced with symbols.
Menu on the guide was partly cut off too when expanded.

The only menues for me with that gobbledygook was the sign in menu so I could live with that as I knew it would be fixed.

Still annoyed with random MKVs not playing properly, if it wasn't for that I would be reasonably happy with the new dash.

Are you guys able to test streaming several MKV files wireless from a network drive to see if you have the same issues as me?

---------- Post added at 17:45 ---------- Previous post was at 17:22 ----------

It actually looks like i got an update today too, and still have unusable MKVs while streaming wireless from a network drive, i guess this wont be at the top of their list to fix.

I have a work around for anyone with terrible stuttering when first playing some MKVs.

If this happens to you then just fast forward 30 seconds and it should play normally.

The Media Remote controls work now as well after the latest update, i am really enjoying it and glad i went for the update as i thought i would regret it.

Hows it for everyone else who has it?

One problem Kinect doesn't log me in anymore and i can't find out where to calibrate that again? Also when i go into the Kinect settings it sees me as a guest.

Found the setting it sure is buried! Still doesn't sign me in though but it sees me as me.

It is verrrry slow for me. Not sure if its a NXOE issue or just a very popular title :)
at 6% after about an hour - most games would be ready by now.

Try pausing and resuming the download.

nothing helps. just going to have to suck it up. I think it's a NXOE wireless issue.

Try downloading something else to see if you can do that or delete and start again.

Currently D/L the beta and xbox reports usage is 4.5MB/s 15% after only about 10 mins I think.

Think ive figured it out. i was streaming to my win10 pc and i think that killed the wireless speed. Stopping that for now and ill hopefully see it speed up.

First impressions?

I enjoyed it, very quick to get into a game, but to be honest i am no expert in judging it as not played similar games other than COD. Need to play more for sure.

I am having a lot of fun with it and can't wait for the full game for the other maps and game types.

The graphics are simply stunning.

I am having great fun with the basic multiplayer part, not won a battle yet!!! not tried any other mode.

Will buy it for sure on the cheap digital because it is 1 of the rare games with split screen multiplayer!
