Probably means your area is now ready for 120Mb. We had speed doubling , but not 120Mb yet. Awaiting 2 upstream channels.

Strange. It looks like a 12-hourly packet loss spike.

Not having any issues with speed tests, or loading youtube :-/ I don't really know what the yellow bit means though, can anyone help in explaining why its so high?

I've ordered the other half to go on Fifa to see what the lag is like as it's usually horrendous when there's lots of yellow bits.

We had this discussion yesterday I think, but May 2013 and August 2013, I think that's what you mentioned when I gave you the first part of my postcode :)

What causes the heavy downstream/upstream load?

I'm determined to understand this better so I can keep going back to the CEO office until they sort my connection out... :p:

If there's game lag, then it's your upstream that's likely to be playing up.

the yellow is peak latency, so its the highest altency recorded during the interval on the graph, so high yellow is bad but its not necessarily a true indicator of whats going on, the blue is more important in the regard. The blue is average latency, on your graph the difference between blue and yellow is quite big meaning your peaks are high but your average is not as terrible however you should not be getting those kind of spikes 24/7 consistently so thats a warning something is wrong, and the blue is ever increasing suggesting something wrong also.

The green is min (base) latency and looks normal.

Ideally you want blue as close as possible to green and for green to be steady flat.

Have you installed JDAST? You can watch the latency test which displays graphically, showing the peaks/troughs over the chosen period for the test.

Not yet, it was going to be installed on my other half's laptop as it's wired, my laptop isn't usually unless I plug it in myself (usually when downloading).

Would it still work on my laptop? or would it be best to go on the wired connection?

you need to post up before and after on the VM forum including the new down channel added. they will probably pm you to book a tech but be wary my downstream power levels went up a few weeks ago then dropped. upstream increased a bit too. not sure what was going on but it went back to normal. i refused a tech visit because i had a feeling it would go back to normal but then again my upstream wasnt 58. has your connection become unstable? i remember you was connected to the pee box? no banks of different attenuation and rather the other type (i cant remember)

Aye, can't see the issue anywhere else.

Also edging closer to the 12th December date I was given for the high utilisation to be fixed. Can't wait for it to be pushed back again..

qasdfdsaq 03-12-2012 14:15

Re: Think Broadband Ping Monitor Results (POST YOURS)

This is probably an additional problem and unrelated to that though. The bump is caused by overload between CMTS <-> Core, not Home <-> CMTS (which is where most people complain of high utilization issues)

Lots of yellow = mildly bad.

Green being unstable = moderately bad.

Lots of blue = very bad.

Speed tests at TBB have been higher than ever this last two weeks. Usually my TBB speed tests have been at least 10Mb below 100Mb. Does this indicate an improvement in VM's dodgy connection to TBB? Does this have relevance to TBB line quality graphs?
