We've had really heavy snow showers on and off for most of last night and today, East side of Scotland.

Aber is on a hill so when it snowed some more stable students would polish the paths to ice, made things interesting for those whose balance was less keen.

Winchester seems to get different weather to surroundings. Our grocery delivery man yesterday said we was having difficulty only a few km away. Other times we get the snow and it's clear in surroundings.

We are now on an amber alert for more heavy snow, Tayside, we have approx 8" at the moment and it's still coming down.

A couple of dustings here, one overnight which melted again this morning, and another weaker attempt [this afternoon] that partially melted again before the temperature dropped.

Well it looks as if winter has arrived here, we have a red warning for severe weather with winds up to 90 MPH, and blizzard conditions in some areas, at the moment it is very windy and the rain we had earlier is starting to turn to sleet, so we're expecting the sleet to turn to snow, looks like a wild night ahead.
I don't think I've ever seen a red warning issued before, saw a few amber warnings issued, but never red.

The east side of Scotland is going to get pretty wild. I’d have a quick look outside while it’s still daylight and make sure there’s nothing loose in your garden.

It's been snowing lightly since late morning here in South Manchester. Stopped at the moment, leaving an inch or so covering over all of our garden.

Freezing already and clear skies with -4°c forecasted overnight. Unfortunately I'm due out very early for hospital tests and treatments so I will have to be extra careful on the roads.

I've been in places like that. Even where we live now our weather can be different to surroundings in either direction - we have snow none around but usually it's other way around.
At university (Aberystwyth) one Feb we had some mile weather but cars were coming into town with a good layer of snow on roofs. (Naughty drivers not clearing it off.)

We live in the UK and unless you live in the sticks or up north where you get beautiful scenes and lots of snow then most of us will have to endure about 4 months of sleety hail mushy sort of snow that just makes everyone feel rubbish.

It was the November weather that was greatly instrumental in my dad emigrating us to South Africa in 1968, much more civilised climate though up in the high veld winter can get cold at night.


Here we just have different temperatures of damp most of the year.

Only a dusting here. When we do get a good fall we all go out and clear the road, pavements and drives/paths of infirm residents. Good exercise and great to be together. At the moment I don't leave my desk much. Work from 0900-1730 then essays til dinner then more essays to 2130-2200. The ice doesn't make me want to go out much.

It was treacherous out there earlier. Sleet, then freezing rain. It looked soggy, but it was actually black ice on all surfaces.

Was snowing very heavy in Cambridge at 9am with 1/2in settled, 3hrs later it was all gone luckily!!!

I won't be happy if it snows next week as I am on early shift as clearing the car and navigating the roads at 5.30am is no laughing matter.

There was defo some pink showing up in photos, but nothing particularly visible to the naked eye where I was. Clouded over (typically) around midnight when activity was at its strongest. A colleague got some amazing photos a couple of weeks back on the east coast.
